  1. Managed to snag some time to go fish the pond today for a couple of hours. Caught a catfish on a chatter bait in black/blue with a matching craw trailer and then after moving to the other side of the pier I caught a small LM on the same lure. Might have been a pound and a half maybe but fought like a 3 pounder. ?
  2. We’re working on it. Found out from another camper that he caught a 10+ pounder in this very lake. He’s a full time rv-er here and says this Lake is home to some huge bass. When we finally got back from St. Augustine late this afternoon the skies were scudding up with rain clouds so tomorrow may be hit or miss on another fishing trip to the lake here. I hear you Katie! I thought for sure that I’d be doing somersaults down the bluff after tripping over an exposed root. ?
  3. Finally got a chance to go fish yesterday but the ‘nature trail’ leading to Lake Oklawaha was blocked by a felled tree. Turned out both ‘trails’ to the lake go down a fairly steep bluff. Not so good for a 66 year old with 5 stents so I loaded up the truck and drove the 5 miles to Rodman dam. Wind was gusting pretty much the whole day and the current above the dam was pretty fast. On the opposite side there were fishing piers on both sides of the spillway plus a boat ramp. I tried a few jigs, a spinner bait and a couple of Ned rigs. Nada. Got to watching the other folks and no one was getting any bites so I moved to the boat ramp. Lots of Lilly pads around the little cove so I tossed a frog in them to see if my luck would change. Still nada. So after packing things up and heading back to the Ft. McCoy KOA I figure this leg of our trip was a bust fishing-wise. I did take a quick pic of the sign at the boat ramp though. It did keep me very aware of where I was. ?
  4. Happy Birthday wishes to Lynn and hoping for many more to come!
  5. I tried this plan too but my boss objected heartily! Did I mention my boss is my wife? ? Now we’re dragging a camper around Florida visiting family and friends with some fishing thrown in the mix. We’ll be up Tampa way (Dunedin) in ~2 weeks. April 26th I believe if all goes well. We’re traveling around coastal Florida and are in Jax now. I worked in the printing industry for around 40 years and witnessed all of the above. Made me wonder what kind of children I was working with. At least the machines never wanted to ‘fight’ or give me a lot of lip. If they did I’d just add more grease! ? Just passed my 1 year anniversary end of March. Congrats! Oh yeah, the topic…yes, I try to fish as often as I can. It settles me down and I find it relaxing. Best medicine I ever took!
  6. That’s definitely one of the places I wanted to visit. Key Largo looks to be a beautiful place to kick back and enjoy the scenery (fish ?).
  7. Yup, two medium spinning rods with 2500 reels. There are some lakes and ponds near and/or at most of the places we’re staying. My planning of the route may have had something to do with bodies of water nearby. ? ? My wife has wanted to visit the Keys so I figured a trip around Florida visiting family (fishing) and friends (fishing) would allow her to check that off her bucket list (did I say fishing?). I’m a thoughtful kinda guy. ? ?
  8. Decided to goof off a little this afternoon at the pond from prepping for our month long trip around Florida with our travel trailer. Got the fishing gear all ready as well so figured I may as well ‘test’ things out, right? ? Snagged this healthy looking fella on a 5” Yum Dinger in blue flake/black on a ned. He’ll do until I can ply the Florida waters. ?
  9. Appreciate the PSA and glad you’re feeling better. Condolences on your mom and uncle. Lost my mom to cancer as well so know a bit about what you went through.
  10. I tend to rig up several rods with different baits so I can switch up as needed quickly. It can hold up to six combos if needed plus plastics and tackle bag.
  11. I’m with you @thediscochef! I got me a stick of ‘dyn-o-mite’ ready to go! ?
  12. LOL! I’d settle for fishing from the bank at your lake! ?

Well I have all these ‘lure trees’ in our pond so… ?
  14. That about matches my latest dink @treble hook! ?

Show off! ?? I use the 12 and 15 on my BC reels. So far, so good
  16. That is truly one heck of a toad sir! Congrats! Sure beats my dink of a dink! ?
  17. I’ve been skunking out for a while now. Went back down to the pond with my Garmin to try to find the sneaky buggers. Found them alright. Made no difference though. They wouldn’t bite anything for some reason. Water temps were in the low 60s. Same as outside. Sky was going from partly cloudy to cloudy and back again. Finally called it and made one last cast with my KastKing Royale Legend 2/Daiwa MH rod with 15# flouro and a Booyah lipless crank bait. The fish that bit was barely larger than the lure. ? Still counts I guess.
  18. Yo-Zuri’s 3DR series are a good option as well. I’ve used them and they’ve worked well for me. Easy on the wallet too.
  19. Now see what happens when you take that ‘Georgia’ hat off? ? ?
  20. Been there, done that albeit a long time ago. Hard pass now but I’ll offer you high humidity and 90+ degree weather if you’re interested ?
  21. Same here! Now I don’t need the magnifying glass lol ?
  22. Done!
  23. We’re both getting hammered by the wind/rain combo. ‘Supposed to be’ sunshine today although I’ve not seen much of it yet.
  24. There’s a place down here in Moody, AL called Carpenetti's Pizza. The owner was a master machinist up in New York I believe before retiring and moving down here. Story has it he couldn’t find a decent pizza anywhere so he opened his own place. Some of the best pizza (and Italian food) I ever had. I also like spaghetti, lasagna and Italian sausage. ?
