I’m with you but that’s just what bass fishing is to you and I. That’s not what It is to everyone. To others it’s a job. To some it’s to be in nature. To some it’s a pursuit of only trophy bass. To others it’s for the competition of tournaments. Others don’t care as much about the fish as they do about go fast boats. There’s no right or wrong.

Lmao. Fair enough on the rods. I like the looks of both. One is futuristic, one is classic. But I do take aesthetics into account. Your truck comparison though, smh. Not even close to a comparable price between those two trucks. If they were the same price, who wouldn’t take the black one. But since they aren’t, it’s not JUST a matter of looks or warranty. It’s a matter of what you can afford. My example was two rods off comparable prices.

That’s apples to oranges. We’re talking about bass fishing here. That’s It. Not a mortgage crash or student loans or any other of a million things others can do to affect everyone. I see first hand every day in my profession how what other folks do affects people. It happens. It also happens that many people pay cash. There’s a National bass boat forum I can’t name on here that is more indicative of bass boat owners than this forum.

Is that the same thing as people owning livescope or a bass boat? There’s a lot of people out there with a lot of money. More people can afford these boats than you may think.

I get that. It’s what everyone always throws out. But I was looking at purchasing a new USDM P5 FMJ or a GLX MBR recently. I could have gotten the P5 for $499 tyd from tackle Trap or the GLX for $480 tyd. One has 3 year replacement, one has lifetime replacement. In 4 years if I break either, I’m looking at $1000 total for 2 MB rods or $600ish for two GLX rods… I guess if you believe the GLX is such an inferior rod to the P5 then that’s worth the gamble, great. I do not. I’ve broken my Dobyns Extreme twice so I’m hard on gear (I’m getting better). I was happy to have the replacement policy. All a moot point though because I ended up with the new Orochis for $175 lol. And then a week later found a gently used GLX for $275. Haha

Why does what others think they need bother you? What others want, perceive they need, and have is no concern of mine. Ive used It a lot on my 76 year old friends boat. He bought It and literally has no idea what to do with It. Scared to even play with the settings. I don’t believe it’ll revolutionize my fishing. But I do think it’s a tool I’ll utilize. Oh and I fish derbies lol.

You’re a brave man. Trading a lifetime replacement policy for nothing after 3 years. I had a P5 dark sleeper and didn’t like It for what I wanted It for. Currently own two Orochi XX but only because I got them for $175 each new. MB are the prettiest rods I’ve owned but I don’t think they blow my GLX or Dobyns Extreme out of the water or anything. Maybe it’s like high end whiskey. You have to be more refined than I am to really tell a difference. Lol

This is ridiculous. No one is forcing anyone else to buy the 100k bass boat. There are other options. As far as FFS…I know exactly ZERO people that own It who know how to utilize It properly. And I know a lot that own It. The vast majority that have It, put in their boat then go beat the bank anyway. Just like before with sidescan. Doesn’t bother me at all for It to be allowed in local derbies. In fact, I don’t even think about It. Not sure why a bunch of bank beaters and bass buster pond fisherman on forums care either. I assure you no one cares that you don’t like watching a pro stare at a screen. It’s not like bass tournaments have ever drawn viewers like other sports anyway. As far as “decimating” fish numbers…that’s up to the wildlife agencies to manage with bag limits. The bag limits were set for a reason. Who cares if you catch 25 crappie in 10 minutes with FFS or 25 crappie in 7 hours. It’s still 25 crappie. If it’s made It too easy to get the bag limit, to the point where so many people are doing It and decimating a fishery (which I doubt) then they should drop the bag limit. The hammers with ffs, were the hammers without ffs. Social media (including this forum) highlight the minority that are really good at using It, but there are waaaaay more people that own It that don’t even know what they’re doing. This is all much ado about nothing and will go away before too long (except for the whiners). News flash. It’s still fishing.

I’ve gotten to where I kind of hate throwing drop shot and I’ve always hated Ned rigs. Think I’ll start using these w/ shakey head, rigged weedless, more. Or pegged 3/16 weight. Although that’s kind of the same thing.

I have all Jdm - Zillion SV, Zillion HD, Bantam, Metanium. Met wins hands down but they are all super nice.

Anyone used this? I picked up a couple packs recently. Was told they were good jig trailers, and they may be, but seem huge compared to a jig. Anyone pitch them t-rigged?

I think It will be fine for you. I don’t know how to explain It. Maybe it’s fine for 3/8 and I’m just not used to the feel of a skipping rod. It just didn’t feel right. I’ll test again in better conditions on my own boat though. I already have the Brent Erhler AGS 7’ MMH X F rod. It’s called the finesse rod but it’s rated 1/4-1oz. I’m going to try that one with 3/8 jigs if the skipping rod doesn’t work out. I hadn’t really thought about trying the Ehrler for jigs until last night.
