  1. Roboworm in 6" Fat or straight tail model Pick a color, doesn't matter. That said, if I want to give myself to blindly catch the biggest fish in a lake, I'm using a chatterbait. Those two are obviously my confidence baits so take that fwiw.
  2. Really sorry to hear about your brother friend, and he sounded like an amazing angler.....a true angler who doesn't let weather, comfort, or time of day get in his way. Thank you for sharing a bit of him with us, it's how we keep them alive in our hearts. My uncle was like that, I wished we could have fished so much more, but he was taken to soon as well. I'll have to check out Sarah the closer Parvin.
  3. June and July are the only months really "unbearable" here in central Alabama, and for somebody who loves night Bassin, it's a perfect marriage. I find it much easier to locate and catch more quality Bass in a session during these two months at night. My best 5 during a session for these months could be 20lbs, whereas the rest of the year it's closer to 10-15lbs Ultimately the real prize for dealing with the heat is being able to fish February, and March when you have the best shot at catching DD fish here in the south.
  4. I think that's so cool what you guys are doing, and I would have loved to have had that opportunity. It's amazing how big of difference a good pair of polarized glasses make. In Saltwater it's pretty much mandatory. Keep up the great work, and don't stop chasing your dreams!
  5. How's it work with those sponsors on your shirts? You get free products, or do they pay the entries? I enjoyed the video, you guys are great anglers....although I thought somebody was going swimming ? Two on front deck is always tough.
  6. Do it brother.....Spots will never stop killing my plastic, I'll have an endless supply for you to play mad scientist with ?
  7. If it was anything like it is now, your old boss waited years for that opportunity. When I was looking into 15 years ago or so, it was 3-4yr waiting list lol. Once in a lifetime trip, and I bet he relished his time there.
  8. Perhaps, but cats aren't that prevalent in the lake. Did lose a lucky craft BDS to one a few weeks ago.
  9. Not gonna lie, didn't really want to die for a hobby ? Only did 3s and below in a skirted kayak, but have rafted a few 4s and 5 in Bend Oregon on the Deschutes River. Not sure I could have done the 4s and 5 in the kayak. Massive amounts of water and force.
  10. Not that I recall, I did it in college and a little after but then moved on to other hobbies. Just not a lot of good runs in Alabama, TN has some amazing ones though. I only got into it because they gave me elective credits for Kayak 1 and Kayak 2 at Auburn....yeah yeah save the Auburn jokes ?
  11. Really excellent reply, thanks! Now the tackle monkey will love me sweetly tomorrow....thanks again ?
  12. Beautiful fish friend! I love the panfish finesse stuff, and have been carrying at least one setup but it's a whole artform unto itself. Sheesh catching panfish is harder than Bass ? Looks like you're fishing some super clear water.....something very foreign to me.
  13. Very interesting and very topical for myself. I posted about this the other day in the latest catch thread. Since then I keep seeing it repeated over on sonar. Catching lots of 1-2lb fish in the 5-10ft column of water, however underneath them, and the huge balls of bait, anywhere from two or three....to six or seven big Bass essentially have their bellies on the bottom at around 15ft. Tried lots of deep cranks but only caught the 1-2lb class fish. What bait are you using? Have some nice swimbaits but new to throwing them. I took a pic of my sonar to illustrate what you and I are talking about....green circle is the 1-2lb Bass I can catch, red circle is what I imagine are 4-5lb+ Bass I can't catch. The balls of bait are threadfins, and intermixed in the frenzy are Crappie.
  14. Thanks for the very kind words Eric!
  15. Been trying out all the fancy lures I bought before I took a long break from fishing....these baits are from 2010 and before. Anyway I had a pair of these $20 Jackall Girons.....just beautiful baits. Today I decided to try one along some docks, and on the first cast a 2.3lb Spot all most gave me a bad day. Just like pretty much every Jackall hardbait, the action is just out of this world, looks so realistic. Jackall's erratic action on many of their baits is quite unique to them I'm finding. Ended up throwing it a little bit more, but no more fish. Funny how that works....1 cast, 1 fish...then nothing. Caught several more on the MiniMax w/ Armor Shad setup I've been having terrific luck with. Biggest was that 2.3 that gave it's best effort to steal that pretty lure ?
  16. They are certainly the older Terminators, like ones pre 2010 I would imagine. I'd say they are only about 5-6 of those, then other types. Might as well sell the whole binder lol ? If I let them go, they got your name on them.
  17. LUCKEEEE....never seen one in the wild besides dead ones. They are absolutely ninjas. Them and Mountain Lions are my favorite animals. Congrats on the encounter!
  18. In general people have no idea the enormous power of water, floods are a great example, every year countless people die needlessly in floods by being ignorant of the power of water. As a former whitewater kayaker, the power of water is mind boggling sometimes.
  19. Sorry can't help, but those things are incredibly cool. Wish I still surf fished just so I could buy one. I remember as a kid in the Outer Banks watching dudes paddle out Tuna heads at midnight in little kayaks. They'd catch huge sharks though doing it. Can the company not sell you an OEM battery?
  20. I hate them, and have a binder full of Terminators lol. I catch a fish occasionally, but they are an archaic Dinasaur of a bait to me. Seems you are correct in that the people who love these baits have certain unique conditions that make them work better. Shallow water on grass flats during a windy day sounds like a good time to throw them.....something I don't fish much of, and if I do, I'm going to run a lighter weight chatterbait over it. Spinnerblades are the most hate it or love it bait in fishing I think. That or Buzzbaits. I can't hardly fish in the boat with someone who is throwing one lol
  21. Personally, I want the added stretch with mono. Gonna get a Rebound rod myself soon. Anything moving I want as many advantages I can get....meaning I want my setup as forgiving as possible. I want to account for my fast reactions by giving the fish more time to get the bait.
  22. I mean in Musky waters...okay, STRAIGHTBRAIDBRIGADE ?
  23. Stupid me.....first I said musky in my head, then I thought is that big pike, and then I went back to it being too big in my mind to be a pike. Rednecks get a pass on Yankee toothy fish haha. I love catching other things by accident, because I can't myself not fish for Bass. All the fish are so beautiful, but something about the Bass takes your soul.
  24. Wow, and that's ridiculous imho. Red Snapper are highly monitored and limited, yet you still catch them out of season for example. That really is mind boggling to me.
  25. Awesome, so do the Musky come as a by product or did you fish specifically for them as well....I'd assume it's hard to catch them on Bass tackle with their teeth and size
