This makes me sad, and @WRB has done a fantastic job of laying out why the lake/s of my childhood dreams are not what they were. I'd still love to fish Pine Flat Lake, but it sounds pretty slow, and not the same as it was either. Still a DD Spot is only second to a WR LGM in my book. I can't even fathom a 10lb Alabama Spot. It would seemingly pull the boat around.

I just paid $234 total for a Zillion SV TW 1000. I'd be buying another one tom if I didn't have other big holes I wanted to fill with the JDM steal-athon. Seriously, everything is a steal. The most high end stuff is the biggest discounted stuff. Daiwa's flagship spinning real is like 550 JDM.....same real is 900+ USDM

Imho, major Bass fishing circuits like the MLF and BASS will never have a format besides weight. It's like if MLB decided to change how they measure homeruns or something. When you don't account for girth in Bass fishing, you are truly only getting half the story and size of the fish.

You got to hand it to modern day elite (same type of money these two crooks swindled folks and sponsors out of) Bass tourney circuits. It's not easy to cheat in a major Bass tourney anymore I'd imagine with lie detectors, monitors, many times camera crews.....just way more eyes and scrutiny it seems on Bass fishing tourneys. I read in the early days of Bass folks were caught stuffing weights though. I'm not a tourney guy and this is just based on TV observations.

Bingo on it all. The first point is exactly what I ended up doing, and actually appreciate having it that way now. My main group of 27 for the TM has to come out each time to charge, but I can go a bunch of times before the group of 24 running the 9sv even drops to 12.8v on the screen. The idea of the backup battery is really big for me on an electric only lake that is border line too big for at least one 50lb TM . Hoping for a new decked boat with front mounted TM, and then a rear TM for long hauls. LOL.....I'm one lazy first world fisherman

That first one is for sure the Debil....and the last one you posted is quite curious. Has some Spot qualities to it, but overall looks like a Smallie. Beautiful fish as always! I caught a nice Debil right at dusk, and caught several more Bass, but the bite has been brutal the last two days since we got a bump in low pressure, and increase in heat. I got a double crown with a Crappie cherry on top......can I play?? Downsizing big time is the only way I've gotten fish the last two days. Mini Max took the nice Spot along with another chunk Spot, and a Flashback mini took the LGM and another small Spot. 4 fish all on Chatterbait types. The chatterbait is the only other lure that competes with a 6" Roboworm when it comes to keeping that skunk out of the boat for me. Look at how small of a profile this Mini Max makes with a 3" Armor Shad, and dipped chartruese tail.....able to throw a 1/2oz bait with a profile that size. Looks just like that baby bream size.

Congrats on the pig, but you know it would have been a bigger fish had you used mono/fluorocarbon....say it with me, "no serious Bass fisherman only use braid" ?

After 5months that would have tickled me pink....I'm waiting to find a $20 Luckycraft that hopefully rusts out of cat's mouth, and then a nice Jackall to start floating in a similar place like yours above. I wish it didn't bother me so much to lose lures, but it drives me crazy.

Oh heck yeah I'd love that too. Place sounds amazing, and similar to these lakes around here. I haven't gotten to catch Shellcrackers in forever, and I think these "dream lakes" have some. I've been talking to the owner of one, and he wants 300 a day, which seems fair. That's one of the most beautiful big fish I've ever seen. Just amazing! Great info, and it truly sounds like the place you go to bed dreaming about as a Bass angler. Yeah DD Bass in central FL are very common. Certainly, one of the greatest Bass fishing locations on Earth. Before Mexico, my fishing mentor said central FL was the place back in the day everybody paid to fish and catch their PB/DD fish. Still is to some degree I'd imagine.

Baccarac has been on my bucket list since I was a kid, just like Castaic, and few others that were always featured in the Bass rags back in the day. Really appreciate the info, and my parents echo many of the same thoughts as you as they visit Mexico once a year usually. They know the tourists are off limits, but occasionally something spills over. I need to research how much a trip like this costs. In Alabama we have these "Ray Scott" model lakes that you pay per day or weekend to fish. Similar numbers and size fish as Mexico, just on small lakes. Gonna try a day or two at one here shortly, hopefully that holds me over until I have time and money to dedicate a week to epic Bassing in Mexico.

What's the deal with security though, not only is that Mexico, it's the heartbeat of the narco trafficking state. Don't get me wrong, if I get a chance to go fish there, I would go during an active war lol but living there might be a different story. Awesome fish, I can see why you like the place haha
