  1. I thought us Okies were the only ones that called them sand bass!
  2. I took my son and my nephew fishing Saturday morning. The bass weren't cooperating, so we ended up trolling for sand bass (white bass). They had a blast, but my nephew really wanted to catch a big bass, so we spent the evening fishing at one of my favorite farm ponds. Altogether, the boys caught around 20 sand bass, 10 largemouth, one catfish, and one crappie, and Waylon caught his PB largemouth. I think I managed to catch three fish all day, but it was the most enjoyable fishing I've done in a long time!
  3. It's a spot. Save the picture to your computer, and zoom in. You'll be able to see the details that Tom mentioned. I guess it's possible that it may be a hybrid, but it definitely has characteristics of a spot. It is absolutely not a "standard" largemouth.
  4. A coworker of mine has a picture of himself holding what he claims is a 10 pound bass. It is a nice sized fish, but it looks more like a 5 pounder to me. He is a novice fisherman, and I'm sure that it's the largest fish he has ever caught. I don't have the heart to tell him that it probably isn't as big as he thinks. I did bust a friends bubble one time by correcting him not about the size of a fish but about the species. He bragged for several days about catching his first musky. When he finally produced a picture of it, it was clearly a northern pike.
  5. Most fishermen don't lie. They just exaggerate.

  8. I went by "Bird Dog" on this forum for several years because I had an old pointer who love to ride in my boat. I lost my faithful fishing companion a few years back, and the username no longer seemed appropriate, so I changed it to "S.Doolittle". I got a new pup about two years ago, but he was way too wired to attempt to put him in the boat. Finally, last weekend, I took him out for the first time. I'm happy to report that he loved every minute of it! He's not much of a net man, and he can't back a trailer to save his life, but I think I have found my new fishing partner. Bird Dog is back!
  9. That's what I was just thinking! Also, how would you show your license when ordering tackle online?

  11. Wade out crotch deep, and pee your pants while waving at all the passers by. They'll never know what you're doing. It's almost as much fun as crop dusting.

Welcome to BR! Where are you in SE Arizona? I grew up in Ft Huachuca/Sierra Vista.
  20. Is that an Oklahoma buck?
  21. Perirectal abscess. Google it. Not only was it the most painful thing I've ever experienced, but it was also the most humiliating.
