Line expiration/use by date... use recommendation
I'm only considering this 15# for my casting set ups thinkin my spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, buzzbaits [all basically always tied on, about 90% of my fishing right there], swimjigs, wakebaits (wanna start to throw 1-4oz), magdrafts, glide baits (wanna start throwing 1-3 oz) Plus random treble hook baits like lipless cranks and topwater

On sale for $48... I too like my numbers like I like my women, crunched So if I do 125 on 2 reels and fresh spool with each change of the New England season that's 750 yards a year... I'll have this spool for 14 years and it would cost me $0.55 per 125yd spool vs $1.71 per refill with MSRP 900yd spool. But could I put it on more reels? Is 15# Big Game that versatile? Dang... hmm... I mean, for 70% off retail, if i can find more use for 15# BG I'm sure I could Mickey mouse some kind of spool holder I will say I've seen you post that a bunch of your big bass came on 10/12# BG (and XT)... makes me wonder if I really could make the switch and put it on 3 or 4 reels. Thoughts on Big Game from a kayak? Too much stretch combined with a Kayak's tendency to drift forward when you set the hook? Should I not? Would I be sacrificing casting distance vs braid or 12# YZH? YZH definitely has less stretch too... so much to consider

Vibrating Jig hookup suggestions....
I build rods now, haven't ordered a manufacturers rod in a few years, but my life situation at present precludes me from building. Bumped into a killer deal on the Edge rod knowing that I have heard rave reviews on this one for moving baits. Sign up for their email list and catch a sale, be patient, if you need a rod for an upcoming tourney this is not the way brother. But if you just want a fantastic rod at a fantastic price and you can wait, this is the right choice. Also, just to add cuz it wasn't in my first post, the rod is composite. I was way less sweaty fighting this big girl in than I'm any other bladed jig combo

Vibrating Jig hookup suggestions....
I'm relatively new to the bladed jig game, they were in the mix a number of years ago but I dropped them out of the rotation for quite a while. Year or 2 ago they made a cameo in my line up... became a recurring character in my show I just copped a new Edge 765 NEO basically just for chatterbaits, but also other moving single hook baits I'm fond of. I've never seen chatterbaits so well placed and hooked in the mouth before. I've tried all the combinations, mono/hybrid with a 7'3mh or 6'9h fast/exfast rod, braid with a 7ft moderate carbon rod, braid with 7'6 mh moderate fast carbon rod... Here's what I've learned Make sure that you have the drag set to slip if you yank a hook set. I know myself, I get jumpy... too tight drag will make any combo you use the wrong combo. But the best hook set is **is this weeds...hmm...let me get them off...these weeds are pulling back... I guess I should reel down and give a little umph and drag them in as quick as possible with my rod tip to the side and low so these weeds can't jump and spit the hook** Sharpen your hooks! I'm new to this. I feel like the grooved hook sharpeners don't work well, I'm trying to teach myself but I'm still pretty inconsistent. Thus I keep sharpening haha, until I'm very positive the hook is maximally sharp. This 7'5 heavy unique action rod, its like a moderate fast on the fight but a fast for casting and moving the lure, with 30# braid is unbeatable. Wish I bought 3 of them for all my moving baits set ups. Lastly, sell 2-4 of those rods and get a rod designed to give you more, it's totally worth it if you fish a lot. Invest in a healthy hobby, and really you can recoup some cash by selling on fb market. Your asking a lot from those rods when you're trying to dial your combo in and getting technique specific. I don't think we need 20 rods for 20 techniques, but you have almost 20 rods anyway so you might as well start getting specific. If not, go grab a MH or H ugly stick to try for your chatterbaits, they have a decent bend and might let the bass take it a little better for you. A 6# bass around here is like a 9# down south, heartthumpingshakyexcitement, and this rod pulled her in from the bank about 40 yards out over/though some decent vegetation. Kept her pinnee solid on a little jump, and I dont think any of my other combos would've pulled that off based on previous experience.

15# 10,800 yards for $48, that's over half off those 1/4 spools. I'm a sucker for a sale haha

Best Modern Low-Stretch Copolymer / Mono (Life After Defier Armilo)
For the YZH experts, please compare to Big Game. I do love my YZH, but messing around with some big game I can see it holding its own for non sensitivity based techniques. I just haven't been able to actually get out and fish in order to compare

I've never bought a giant spool before, but price wise I'm considering one of those 10,000 yard spools. How long would the line last on there (stored in basement away from direct sunlight)? Would the line become unruly/unmanageable after a certain lengthof time? It would probably last me at least 3.5 years, depending on if I find more applications for it. I'm looking at 15# Big Game Mono, thinking for glide baits and wake baits (maybe some moving single hook baits like spinnerbaits and chatterbaits...buzzbaits?) Thoughts on long term lifespan of line? Better to just get 900 yards at a time? Recommendations to use/ should definitely not use 15# Big Game for? How often you respooling your Big Game?

Anyone else using mend-it to combat tackle costs?
Would you mind elaborating a bit on this? How exactly are you applying it? Just spray it on all over everything?

Acid Wrap - Theory vs Practical Application
That you missed your calling haha, I can barely draw a straight line either bro haha And how do you determine exactly where your first guide goes? Next guide? What about guide size? I appreciate you sharing your thoughts, seems like only upsides for me since I have no boat deck haha. Just gotta find the time to get a build in

Acid Wrap - Theory vs Practical Application
Just thought- what about an acid wrapped fly rod?

Acid Wrap - Theory vs Practical Application
I haven't had the chance to fish a spiral wrap rod yet, but in theory it seems like the way to go. If for nothing but avoiding braid wrapping around tip top, but also for the comfort in the fight eliminating the torque, and even more so the "pop" from left to right at awkward angle loads. Anybody collect any actual data on performance? Some people say they cast better... data? MANY PEOPLE say you can use at least 1 less guide vs conventional... you folks here agree? Found this https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/261817-what-is-your-favorite-rod-you-built/#findComment-3163218 @FloridaFishinFool wouldn't this affectively shorten the potential spread of the load? With the first guides so far out it wouldn't really load past the first guide to distribute further into the beef of the blank no? What are the steps for this process? Have any better pictures of rods with different characteristics to compare? Hravy Xf vs medium moderate type contrast? Anybody else have any thoughts on all this? Would really love to hear from the experienced builders here to learn and grow

Reels Open Thread! Repairs, UpGrades, Modifications, Maintenance, & ReStorations!
From my experience and the rod building community comments, it very much seems the quality is absolutely there. The rate... not so much haha But I'm sure the difference has a number of factors, including being a small company that does everything on US soil. I'm pretty sure the employees all get full health insurance coverage provided, pretty sweet benefit and respectable move Fun seeing all this reel talk I almost bought one of these a while back, Abu with a flipping switch

Reel Maintenance Mega Thread
Maybe I just got spooky bank fish, but I see scattering if I engage without holding the thumbar down and lifting slowly to engage quietly. Suddenly swirls are rippling all along the bank and sometimes bigger swirls that were probably bass. Thanks for all the insight on the double clicks, I'll keep trying to keep it quiet since it seems like it won't impact the reel or anything. Maybe I'll slap a glob of grease to quiet it down internally.

Also @bulldog1935 @redmeansdistortion @FloridaFishinFool @Delaware Valley Tackle @theotherththeotherwellexperiencedreelmaintainers When I re-engage my spool slowly, on just about all my casters, I hear two clicks. Is this the spring/lever clacking against the buzz saw lookin thing and the thumb bar slapping the reel body? I used to only hear it when I lightly press the thumb bar to keep the clack quiet, because I've seen it spook bass near the bank MANY times. But I now have one or two that it is 2 separate click clacks even when I'm not trying to quiet it down. Did I mess something up? Was this description/question clear? TIA

ShArPnEsS - The Truth About Hooks
Sharper than any hook I've ever pressed against my finger, I found it with my foot running out to the car real quick. It drew blood. When I gently pressed it against my fingertips, it stuck right in easily Never knew cricket legs were so dang sharp

Me too, I appreciate your effort and sharing with us. @KP Duty you said you use non fishing alternatives that perform the same. Any specific recommendations for product and your method for application?

How are you all applying the spray, directly to reel? No worries about it getting inside? The noname brand of KVD is silicone spray, and the water based spray is what off label non fishing brand? This thread got me reel curious to try some on my Big Game and Yozuri hybrid

Reel Maintenance Mega Thread
To get into my Daiwa reels I've been using a flat head Thanks for the details on all that, I'll be looking into some of those tools/manufacturers. I was just looking at some knipex cutters the other day, never heard of them before. But 75 bucks to cut wire a handful of times a year is a hard pill to swallow. If I have to replace the knock off once a year will last me 6 years, every other year and I'd probably lose them before then anyway
