  1. NGL this is all just making me think i should just get more hybrid ceramic bearings for all my reels and not have to worry about cleaning them haha I got 3 rugrats at home and no space for all these chemicals, at first I was thinking okay I could do the alcohol in the basement with ZeRo ventilation, cheap and easy enough. Looking at all these they need ventilation and each bottle is like 20 bucks and more than I'll ever need in a lifetime to clean like 4 or 5 reels' bearings. Unless I'm misinformed about hybrid and full ceramic bearings, my understanding is they don't need to be cleaned like this. No? Do you rinse or dry first or right from MS to DA? in case I do decide to go down this road. For bearings and gears?
  2. So first soak with Acetone then rinse with denatured alcohol?
  3. What brand and how are you applying it?
  4. Would this be good to clean bearings? And @bulldog1935 after I clean should i rinse with isopisopropyl alcohol? I've seen some people mention it elsewhere
  5. Don't we have a couple chemical engineers on here? Can anybody confirm if I can just buy the big can of the off label stuff without the big name/niche market mark up?
  6. Do you dip the stick into the mend it jar? Why not solder the whole tear? How do they hold up after this?
  7. I like but most don't Yo zuri hybrid Cheap AE lures, because many of them are manufactured in the same factory as big names, just without lining the pockets of CEOS with a 1000% mark up. The trilene knot for mono/fluoro Uni knot for braid Barely ever use a leader now I don't like Keitech paddletails Manufactured rods Drop shotting Tackle Warehouse
  8. That's weird, aren't we allowed to discuss favorite AND non favorite brands/techniques/anything fishing related? This is how we learn from each other, thinking and speaking freely - respectfully of course Maybe it's because I swapped the bearings to hybrid ceramic, but I put a 1/4oz underspin+3 inch plastic (so about 3/8 total ish) about 40 yards. Now i need to explore what this can do with a little weight to it
  9. You mean fill ultrasonic cleaner tank with water and put the bearings in a glass and then put that in the water?
  10. These are the only people we should bash for it, as well as tournament organizers who don't care about the sport and only care about the money, but I get that. That's the American way, destroy and reap the rewards, salt the earth so nothing grows and say you've conquered. Seriously think about it, if every boat just had 4-6 lines out trolling around "finding fish" would you call that competitive professional bass angling? Ffs is the same as trolling, it takes the fishing out of finding fish and neither belong in any tournament level competition. You just out their on your own looking for a PB, go for it.
  11. This started immediately after having my first child, I used to be the jump off the top step down the concrete flight, jump out of a moving car going 35 (true story), jump out of a plane, jump the gun kinda guy when it came to rFiUsNk Second I became a dad I turned 85 years getting nervous to walk down a hill too fast and fall... because what if I get hurt? Then I can't work and we won't be able to pay the mortgage and we won't be able to buy groceries and I won't be able to help with the kids and we'll burn through our savings and I'll end up working 3 jobs for pennies each and never see my family because I'll be working 80 hours a week Now I walk slow
  12. Just changed my world brother, thank you I'm a little younger than you but it sounds like a fireworks finale when I get up. And small shows throughout the day from my feet to my neck. The cold bothers me now
  13. But why? Why is everyone so focused on the wind and how should it impact my fishing hourly outside of the concern for swells that could Tip my yak? Why? Also for you yakrs, what's the max wind you'll go on the yak?
  14. Also I forgot to mention, or maybe it didn't wanna share the goods, but Low Brow Fishing drops lil gold nuggets often, deep cuts not another "BEST KEPT bladed jig SECRET THAT ALWAYS CATCHES 10 POUNDERS"... wiggle it... why'd I waste 23 minutes waiting for you to tell me to wiggle it, just heard that from that other guy!?! Low brow says things that costs pros money
  15. Banned User replied to Joedodge's topic in Tacklemaking
Lurepartsonline.com has bulk jigs no skirts and guards separate. Can get like 250 jigs for like 60 bucks or something like that. Was mostly 8-14g jigs and then 14-22 and a few on either end of the spectrum. I'd say worth it
  16. You can change the speed of the video, I watch most videos at 1.5x now, sometimes 2x if they're a bass fishing channel from the south, southwest, or west coast, then it just sounds either normal speed or just a little fast. @Glenn I've been watching your channel since I was like 19 off and on. Stalked the forums off and on for a while. I'll definitely say for a channel with as much info as yours and for how long you've had the channel you should definitely have nore of a following. But I think you're right, it's the mustache. Young guys can't stick around long enough to realize they should sub, old heads don't think you have anything new to share. Yeah, became very banal Yup
  17. How? Did you have to make an Amazon Japan account?
  18. What even is NMB? What parts do you clean with these or what parts need something different? And do I need ventilation? Why no simple green?
  19. From new? Or first time in 4 years meaning you did at least once 4 years ago? I have a zillion i don't wanna Crack open, but daiwa known for being dry so I'm assuming it holds true hear as well. When you say to just jump ahead and clean in solvent does simple green count? 90%isopropyl for bearings good? I also did grab an ultrasonic cleaner, did some digging and spent a little extra. Lots of amazon cleaners were just vibrating cases and not actually ultrasonic. What do it recommend to clean deep rust off a set of pliers? I also went out a little bit more with the hybrid Si3n4 hybrids, wish I ordered more before the tariffs wrecked my life. This is incredible how smooth and relatively quiet they cast. Should I sonic clean them too? From where? Ever compare to hybrid ceramic? What is DDR and DDL?
  20. They're still growing, I agree they are lacking in some lures and colors, but at this point if TW isn't having a mega sale or super clearance on something I nee...want, then they have nothing for me. Omnia pro app is killer, and the pro only deals are phenomenal, plus they're regular deals too I've basically avoided TW for leaking our data and not telling us for mad long and then dodging me when I reached out with questions. Baitwrx has had some good deals, Sportsmans Outfitters too.
  21. Go with Omnia, great sales often and the best customer service among tackle retailers
  22. All you gotta do is pull out the Drakkar Noir scented orange dye after that, it's like the spawn starts all over again
  23. @MassYak85 I appreciate the write up brother I'll look into cheap ultrasonic cleaner. Why do you dilute your simple green and what makes that one safer for aluminum? So obviously I haven't been doing total tear downs, just the basics. Which I feel is sufficient most of the time, but I plan to keep going and making myself familiar with more of the guts. I added the drag clicker to my tat sv tw103, and I did mess around with how the clicker arm was bent/angled a few times to tweak the sound to just how I wanted it. Not too stiff and clacky, but not too soft and or springy. Tried to post a video so yall could hear it, but can't. @bulldog1935 I also put in those Si3n4 hybrid bearings, you were definitely right about how much quiter these are compared to zirconia hybrid, this is incredible. I wish I had spent a little more time with this reel before changing everything so I could have a fresh comparison, but I'll report back with the results. I did get a chance to do like 10/15 casts with a 1/8oz jig and trailer, total was 7g. Again, I can't compare it to before, especially because I've never casted a 1/8 oz jig before, so I don't know if this was an improvement or not but I was able to cast it well enough away from myself. I'll have to bring a spinning rod to switch lures with to do a comparison. I was using 6# yozuri hybrid. I've also never thrown straight mono or fluoro that light before, so no idea how it compares. I do plan to throw some 20# or 30# braid on their and see what happens. Anybody have any pics of their own reel maintenance set up? Pics to highlight areas to be careful or to make sure to check/clean? learned a new tip, watch out for your sticky fingers! You go to put something down but when you release and move your hand it sticks and then drops. Also, remove washers and put them back in singles, not in stacks. And always look under something you lift up, just might be a washer under there.
  24. I literally put those exact ones in my cart last night. Now they're on their way haha How do you know when it's enough grease?
