Why a Kayak?
My boat drafts about a foot. About half a foot on my sonar I can run my motor so 16-18” but once I am on plane I can run in 3-4” of water. Here is a video for reference of water we run here.

Need help converting PA DNR Points for Google Earth
I have used the gps coordinates for other lakes in pa and they will get you close. Down scan the area will be the best way to drop way points on them. I never fished nock much.

Any hockey fans?
@Deleted account yeahh it’s a mess in Philly. I am about an hour and half from there. I do not care for the capitols. I think they gave trotz a raw deal. I actually watched the eagles win while I was at a bar is Boston how ironic is that. @Way north bass guy that is a great accomplishment and having a slow start to boot

Any hockey fans?
@Deleted account I believe you have a good wife to hide the jersey going to see them play in Philly. My brother and dad are flyers fans. I also can believe you are still trying to work through the World Series game that would be rough. Thank you for your service though!

Any hockey fans?
If you are a hockey fan who’s your team and how are they doing this season? Also have you ever been to one of their games? I am a Bruins fan. They are doing excellent. I have made the 6-7 hour drive to Boston for three games. The most notable team I saw them play was the maple leafs. It was an awesome seeing two original 6 teams play in person.

Working to Stay Lean ~
My hats off to anyone who can stick to a work out/diet. I was 330-335lbs at one time. I am down to 205-210lbs. I try my best to maintain portion control. Between my job and my dog I walk anywhere from 7-13 miles a day.

Post a photo a day!
6 months ago my wife and I adopted this guy. The name given to him by the shelter was River. I am a river rat at heart so we figured it was a sign. He was a stray for two years and spent about 8 months in the shelter life. He used to rip any kind of food right out of our hands and scarf it. Now he licks ice cream from a dish. The hurdles we have over come with him.

My idea for tournaments
I agree with this. It would be like the NFL allowing PEDS. All the PEDs in the world could never make me NFL worthy. Do I agree with FFS? no I think it’s detrimental to fishing. There is way too much money involved. The sonar companies would just pull their advertising from any league that bans FFS. @gimruis I know guys here that clean up big musky with FFS. I am interested to see what the PMTT does. They are the only big show in town so they can do what they want. I don’t think it will effect their turn out numbers either way. From what I saw from most I think it was popular ban. One argument can also be they did not clean up the other rounds they were in either. I believe that team did more than one.

Anybody Ever Get Caught Without Their License?
I agree with you but, he even admitted to having no reason to tell me to what I need or don’t need. I was not trying to be rude to him. It was just getting to the point that the conversation was going no where. Sure he could have detained me did an investigation for whatever he wanted. Which if he wanted to do was fine I am not going to argue with him. Again hounding me on something that is not in even in his citation book he should have left it at that.

Anybody Ever Get Caught Without Their License?
I was fishing a stocked trout lake for bass. I had s license but no trout stamp. A police officer not a CO came up to me. Hey how’s it going blah blah. He said I just wanted to remind you that you need a trout stamp to fish here. I said sir that is not correct. In a compound meaning anything that is not a creek or stream I do not need one. Now if I kill or have one in my possession yes I do need one. He argued with me a little and I said is there anything you can legally write me a ticket for right now? He said no I cannot. I said ok I think we are done here then and he got in his patrol car and left.

Why a Kayak?
Unless you have to get out of your kayak to get over an obstruction 9 chances out of 10 I can get to that same place with my boat.

What do you generally find to be the magic number in regards to water temperature for stream smallmouth?
55-65 seen to be when I catch the most numbers of 3-6lb smallies. The other variable I calculate into that is river flow. Generally speaking the flow rates are higher during the cooler water time periods as well. They tend to stack into areas more when the river is flowing like that. Even if you fish a lake during those periods draw downs and refilling of the lake could play a factor as well.

Landing nets
Not gonna lie snakeheads are a bucket list fish for me. I have to travel about two hours to get to them though. They shut down two of the fish ladders below where I fish because of those and blues. The Conowingo fish lift I think they manually sort through.

Forward scanning sonar for bass fishing
I very torn on it. I personally hate it but…. If you can’t beat them join em is what I am starting leaning towards. I know a person who bass fished 90% of thr time. As soon as a musky pops up switches to musky fishing. I fish disgustingly pressured waters. I’m debating on my next boat purchase to get it or not. I honestly think using it will make catching anything feel less satisfying. It’s in my opinion taking the skill, knowledge, luck and instincts out of it. Which I know I have very little of each but, I do have a sense of pride in what little I have.

What technique or lure do you want to do more?
Drop shot. I have caught a couple fish on it but it’s just not something that seems to work for me. I have been putting in the time now to learn it. Now the water is cold so I was hoping it would shine more for me.

Landing nets
@gimruis I have my big drifter musky net, hook cutters pilers etc. We both know how hard it is to net a musky solo. I get thinking well it would have been easier to land this bass with a net then reach in for it. I never did like the flip them in the boat deal but, I had the mind set ahhh it’s not a musky why net it. Now my thought process has changed. @NittyGrittyBoy it is amazing how we never think we need something then end up using it all the time.

Finding fun in pursuing alternative species..
Don’t get me wrong I still do it. It does make the grind easier when the last three trips I smallie fished and had fun. To me nothing gives me more adrenaline than a musky. Smallies are a blast but for me musky will always be the biggest rush.

Finding fun in pursuing alternative species..
When I was diehard into musky fishing I had the typical musky guy attitude. “Everything else is bait, junk, easy etc”. Then my thought process started changing. The musky grind wasn’t near as appealing. It opened my eyes to I’m just going to go have fun instead of tear my rotator cuff. Now I just fish for whatever peaks my interest that day. It might be smallies, musky, eyes, cats who really knows. I think every species you learn to target successfully makes you better at angling period. This will over all help your most common target species.

Landing nets
I was wondering how many of you use landing nets? Love em? Hate em? What size? I am thinking about getting one for heavier fish so I do not have to get down reach for them etc. ps sorry if this is the wrong section. I didn’t feel it fell under tackle, rods/reels or boats.

Black Friday
I just got some uninteresting stuff. Terminal tackle, tubes nothing exciting. I am rethinking getting a little landing net for all the fish I do not catch.
