  1. I would love to get up to the cowanesque someday. It’s just a good bit of a drive for me.
  2. I watched a dude musky fish a lake that was extremely hard . Most people never even got a fish out of there and he was getting 2-3 50” fish a day via live scope. @AlabamaSpothunter watching a fish react to your presentation is the most important part. You can pattern what color retrieve and lure style seeing how they react. Spot lock and power poles have been around a long time. It was just the manual form of two called an anchor. Now they also do have live scope with target lock. Again I know it’s legal. I didn’t say ban it. Go ahead and use it. It does not mean my stance on it changes. I could go put two on my boat right now. Money isn’t the issue for me it’s the principal of it for me.
  3. I know it’s a tool and I know it’s only going to be more widely used. I don’t like it but, I can’t change that it’s here. That’s why we all have our own opinions. I saw how effective it can be for musky. How it made a joke out of some tough waters around here. It’s also at easier to make a fish eat when you can watch real-time how it is reacting 10lb would be nuts
  4. There is a few ramps like that I have been to. I agree high water does play a factor in it. I also can’t say I have ever seen them do maintenance to any. The only ramp i have seen them replace they made worse launching wise. Instead of replacing the cement planks they filled it in with stone then pushed a cement pad out and called it a day. The cement pad is already shifting. It’s a glorified kayak ramp now to be honest. That was after they got I don’t know how many signatures and petitions to get it done.
  5. Did you ever take notice that most ramps in the susky have a rock ledge or boulder right behind the ramp? the ramps we used are fish and boat commission ramps and they look like that or worse. Don’t get me wrong there are some alright ones but, as a whole it’s pretty bad.
  6. That is one heck of a fish! I know others will disagree with me but, my personal opinion is there is an asterisk by it because of the live scope. Just as it would be for me if it was live bait. Great catch they used the technology available to them well.
  7. That’s awesome man! Just don’t be like in grumpier old men and make him late to his own wedding because he’s fishing!
  8. @Gregorym38 ahh gotcha I didn’t know if you were planning on anything specific. I’d just circle hook them through the back then. The big thing people do with ice fishing is use hotdogs on quick strike rigs as well. I don’t know if anyone does it in open water.
  9. I dated my wife for ten years and almost threw it away. It was my fault she didn’t have to keep me around. I had my reasons of why I did certain things I did. That still didn’t make it right. It was after that I realized I could never be without her. After some planning and money saving we got married. Sometimes you need that wake up call to see what you want and what really matters.
  10. I think it came from wanting to succeed. When I raced motocross growing up I wasn’t blessed with talent. So I worked my butt off to get as good as I could be. I also watched my dad work 21 days straight all the time as well. I worked a full time job welding and always had side work or a part time job. One day I got upset with the owner of that company walked out to where I’m at now. Within 3 years of being at the company I’m at now I became in charge of all the welding there. There is about 80 welding employees there. It’s mostly office work or training. I still am the first person to roll up my sleeves and get under the welding hood when it’s needed. When I am under the hood I’m the same old hungry employee I was. Let’s get the job done right and fast. I can tell someone till I’m blue in the face this is how long this build should take. Nothing earns their respect more then from time to time doing it right along side of them. I may still be relatively young but, Hard work, skill and knowledge got me to where I am at. That is also what is going to keep me where I am at or move me higher.
  11. I don’t know what size perch you are looking at using but they do make quick strike rigs. As far as fish being leader shy don’t think into it to much. Blade baits are far from natural looking. So are hooks, jig heads, lips, etc. I am not saying it can’t make a difference but from what I have seen is most times a steel leader does not.
  12. I won the first fishing tournament I ever entered. I was destined for greatness at the age of 5. My dad was at work my mom was with me at this little kids only tournament. I remember running that bass up by hand up the bank to the “weigh in” about 15 minutes before it was over. I ended up to be the only kid to catch a fish. I won a 4ft spin cast set up. I have talked about doing tournaments but, I have come to one realization. I don’t want to be told when where and how long I have. I don’t want to have to follow any regulations other than the legal ones I need to abide by and whatever ones my wife gives me. I just want to fish. I’ll just say I went out on top
  13. I haven’t been out in awhile I’m itching but, don’t think it will happen. Great job getting some fish in the boat!
  14. I was there but only a handful of times. I was fishing for musky though. Lots boat lifts and docks to fish. I hear it gets super busy in the summer with boat traffic there is some lots of l potential I’d say go up near raccoon and halsey island.
  15. Welcome aboard buddy! Great story I hope your daughter is hooked now! You should start a family fishing photo album. I get prints of memorable catches and put them in an album instead of relying on a phone or social media for them.
  16. I wish I had a picture of the old Falmouth ramp where I launched from often. It was missing most the cement planks dropped off at a crazy sharp angle. Many tires, rims and axles have been ruined. The new on they replaced it when we’ll people out just put right bending trailers and axles on it because it’s to flat then drops off into the dirt. Those small wheels on that trailer wouldn’t last here either.
  17. Yeah I know where you are talking about. I have not fished there in the winter. There is a dam right there that above a certain water level you can get over it with a jet and get up to the inflatable as well.
  18. The little low head dam area by the Selinsgrove launch? I have only been there a couple times I generally go more south of that or up to the north branch.
  19. You are spot on with this. I’ve watched people bend axels on their trailers. I have been to NJ MD WV and everything is much better. The susky ramps are junk for the most part. I have been to a couple decent ones but far and few between. @TnRiver46 heck that’s perfect compared to what I normally launch from.
  20. The little kid with the bobber and worm would have caught him lol
  21. I have caught lmb ice fishing in 4ft of water right against the bank. I would suggest if you can try to fish a moving body of water. Neds are awesome.
  22. I carry a glock43 small and light enough I can carry it in the waist band of my gym shorts. I do carry a spare mag with it.
  23. What are these dock things you are talking about? Most of the ramps I fish from are garbage. They are broken potholes all over. 200 yards of fishing line balled up. Beer cans and chicken livers or sunnies scattered all over them from the people catfishing the night before. One of the ramps I launch from the most doesn’t even have a parking lot. It’s a stoned area that can fit maybe 4 trucks and trailers. That’s sadly the river rat life here in PA. At least since there is a walking trail by most of them now the cops frequent the areas a lot more often. The drug use at the ramps used to be overwhelming.
  24. If he can teach you how to correctly use the technique that is working you are learning. Learning how to position a boat is a big factor in fishing. Some guides don’t fish with their clients because they feel like them fishing is taking away from their clients experience. Pick their brain though! Ask why this technique or why this particular area? I am glad you had a good time and made memories with your son!
  25. Looks like you’ll be busy with the tackle lol
