  1. Looks like I will more than likely get out Saturday. I’m pumped
  2. I ned rig all year round. Even though people say I am not ned rigging because of the weight I need for the river.
  3. @T-Billy hence why I started bass fishing. I did pretty much everything I can around here musky wise. I don’t have my interest in it anymore
  4. @T-Billy 26 musky is two-three seasons around here. 1 if you are live scoping them @gimruis I love ice fishing. It’s just so hit and miss here. Season could be a week. Could be a month or none at all. @RipzLipz I think there is more reasons than that to be happy no to live there
  5. This is such a depressing thread
  6. @RipzLipz is right. Top water smallies are a blast. Probably one of my favorite ways to catch them.
  7. Always get the biggest you can afford. I’ve never heard anyone say their boat is to big or has to much storage or HP. Unless you are trying to get in super skinny water. Which then a nitro would not be the best choice to start.
  8. Couldn’t you just use a stand up shakey head jig for this?
  9. @Creek Chub 1 I mean honestly at this point I’d love to fish for bronze backs there too.
  10. @RipzLipz probably tomorrow. At a lake to tuck out of the wind and I hate lakes for the most part. I’m a grown child as well. How I made it this far I’ll never know.
  11. @Creek Chub 1 yes sir. Always wanted to get to the new river for musky.
  12. @RipzLipzshes a great woman. I’m very lucky to have someone that doesn’t question my fishing.
  13. @Creek Chub 1 I use the medium as my all around rods.
  14. @RipzLipz my wife almost never questions anything I buy fishing related. She knows I spend my money on her, the dog and fishing. I don’t have money to blow on stupid stuff.
  15. I do agree with this. That is why I use 1/4 at the heaviest on mine.
  16. I know you are looking in the higher price range but, I run St. Croix premiers for bottom bouncing. 7’ med. anything lighter then 1/4 I will use a med lite. I can feel smallies slurp it off the bottom with these rods.
  17. @GreenPig sounds like you have a well rehearsed plan of action when your wife asks you questions.
  18. Burt’s bees wax and lithium wd40. You have to keep reapplying if it stays that cold.
  19. @Koz min had a panel in the front that was removable sit wa sheet meta screws to gain access.
  20. @RipzLipz the UHMW ones I think are about 1,000. I forget who makes them. As far as I know there is only one company in the USA that makes the aluminum bowl and intake casting. When I broke mine last year on my old boat I was apperently lucky to get one. I hope that changes.
  21. @RipzLipz running shallow is the only advantage. Everything else about jets suck. They don’t handle well. You lose a lot of HP compared to a prop. Wake sucks reverse is a joke and ends up kicking debris up into the jet impeller. 3-4” of water is standard for a jet to be able to run in on plane. My boat drafts at 6-8” while I fish. If you want to go play in the shallow rocks of the susky it’s pretty much what you need. I know there are some recreational style jet boats. I believe they make those more for safety of people climbing in and out o tthe back swim deck. That what you don’t have an outboard and no one can suffer a traumatic prop injury. I am unaware how they handle. also a busted jet intake is about $500. It does happen.
  22. A lot of the river boats here run jet motors either in board or outboard. They are either custom made or production flat bottom or tunnel hull aluminum boats. The grate is basically a vaccum and will suck up anything. Mine is an outboard style. When you suck stuff up on the grate you do not get enough water and it’s almost like hitting neutral. Revs go sky high but you go no where.
  23. River levels are always where I start looking first. Than wind. After that it’s time of year to determine what my starting line up will be. This year the little bit I never really got on a crank bait bite. That had me slightly perplexed. The top water did come in. The Ned rig is almost always in for me. I had a killer day on a spinner bait. sometimes the night before I just get that feeling it’s going to be great.
  24. I decided to put the bait monkey behind me on Black Friday and go fishing instead. I sadly left my dog with my wife because of the weather I knew would be to cold for him. The susky went from around 3.8’ to 5.1’. Water temps were 43-44.8. Winds 13mph sustained 20mph gusts. The bite was extremely tough. Lots of floating grass and leaves. Some of the other anglers were complaining of their jet intakes clogging up. I had no issues thankfully. All the floating weeds and leaves made it extremely hard to keep any presentation clean. I did manage to get one 2pounder on a white hair jig. Which, from what I gathered was better than most people. That will probably be my last time out till mid March unless we get some warmer days scattered in. I am happy I did not end the year on a goose egg.
