Tips for better hookups?
I see you're in NC. I have an Abu black max combo that's well used but still works fine I'll sell you for $20 if you'll meet me to get it. Hard to beat that but it's baitcast, are you comfortable throwing that? It's mh, not very sensitive but will set the hook without issue. Basically the opposite rod of an ugly stick noodle. I was going to use it for a catfish rod but am happy to set you up if you're interested. FB marketplace has fishing equipment regularly at good prices as well in Raleigh market and Winston and Charlotte, not sure what you're close to. Shoot me a message if you want to discuss it. Otherwise, definitely agree on light wire hook and not burying it in plastic.

March Madness
I'm sort of sad that Duke and State are playing Sunday. I'm a Duke fan but growing up in the area it's hard to not be excited for State after all their fan base has been through the last 30 years.

Whopper plopper
I will try that next time I tie it on. Thanks for the tip!

Whopper plopper
I have bone and bluegill. 0 fish caught and zero confidence. I want to throw it, but just can't convince myself to tie it on again.

Tackle and techniques for Ponds Thick with Weeds
You can texas rig any soft plastic and present in a number of different ways. weightless on top for topwater, swimming senko or fluke for mid column, heavy weight for punching, etc. I fish a pond that's got heavy weeds and mats, and all I throw is texas rig, or frogs. I start with frogs, because they're fun

Out in the lake or off the bank
I prefer a boat just because I find being on the water to be therapeutic. I caught my biggest from the bank, and do love bank fishing ponds as well. I love running up a skinny creek in a kayak just to observe nature when taking a break from fishing. All of it is much better than a day in the office 😎

For those asking about the best colors to use for a bait
Great use of AI haha

Lake Software for PC
Thanks for that, I've been using navionics free but this is as good or better. I'm on Mobile currently so maybe overlooking features, but do you just manually add waypoints to your hummingbird based on gps coordinates from this, or is there an easier way? I'm still learning my technology. Thanks!

Pricing Lakemaster chips
I'd like at FB marketplace and eBay for listings. I recently shopped and it seemed lakemaster premium vx was going for 100 or slightly higher.

The latest sale thread
Academy just launched a new fishing sale. Rod and reel discounts among other things. Seems like pure fishing is on sale most places right now, including their website. Good time to stock up on big game line if nothing else

Used well made bass boats recommendations
I'm enjoying reading this. Thanks for the updates, I'm currently just in a kayak but enjoying reading a learning about your experience. Hopefully one day I'll be on a similar shopping spree 😎

March Madness
Go Duke. 😎 Agree, watching Oakland beat Kentucky was a highlight. I also enjoyed watching this ncsu run, even though they ran through my blue devils in acc is refreshing to see some life in that program and history being made.

Custom Rods
@Delaware Valley Tackle is who I'd start with since they're a sponsor and I've heard good things, although I haven't personally used them

Setting up your kayak
@Koz I hear ya, I don't love having the 7" on my side rail and do hit it at least once an outing. Would love it centered, not sure it's possible with pdl system though. I haven't installed my hull wiring yet bc I can't get comfortable with where I want it.

New to Kayak fishing...bonafide pwr129 vs old town autopilot 120
@clemsondds old town pdl 106. Home made wheel system by prior owner. I leave wheels on while in back of truck (they hang below tailgate) but take them off and stow in truck once I've got it near the water. Not sure if this photo is helpful but I tried to capture it. I would have done it different a little but I bought it used like this. Pros and cons.

Setting up your kayak
Depending on depth you want to anchor in, a stakeout pole may also be an option. I just got one I'm experimenting with, can't figure out how to store it while not in use yet. Probably will end up in a paddle holder if I decide to keep using it.

Home Made Crappie Patterns
I agree there should be more crappie patterns and have often wondered why there aren't. For skirted baits it's pretty easy to make one with the right skirt, but for hard baits it seems like a missed opportunity. I'd love to hear Frank scalish thoughts on that. That crappie you posted has really cool color and markings, so defined! I catch them with a lot of black but never chartreuse, that's so cool!

Setting up your kayak
For the transducer, I got the switchblade mount so I can pull it up and down. My last transducer got pretty banged up in the factory mount under the kayak, and my new one cost a lot more so I wanted to be able to baby it. Also good to be able to easily clean it if you get into grass or something. I also added an extra cup holder, one with Holes to hang baits from. I love that for hanging crankbaits to dry before I store them. Also love it for an extra water bottle storage.

Shaky head and wacky rod
@new2BC4bass I probably end up spending more in the end buying stuff on sale because I get so much I don't need. My best deal was when the pure fishing coupons leaked last year. I got a Revo X ($120) for $30 by stacking coupons and promotions. Sure wish I could get that deal again, looking back I should have bought 5 of them!

Shaky head and wacky rod
I tend to toss them in a tree with spinning rod. Plus I already have that, the bait monkey says I need something different 🐵

Setting up your kayak
I'm not super experienced, but have the same kayak as you. My advice is watch Navarre YouTube videos, he covers a lot of recommended upgrades. Also don't permanently mount anything until you've tested on several trips. I still haven't permanently wired my helix yet, wires everywhere but I'm looking for the sweet spot. I'd try it stock before buying tons of things. What works for me may not work for you. However, I do recommend the steering upgrades and seat risers 😎

Shaky head and wacky rod
I have the MH/f airdx and am happy with it. I'll definitely keep an eye out. Looks like the m/f is only rated for 1/4 oz. I'd like to be able to throw lighter than that, I wonder if I should look into ML? Sierra has a ML/f lews custom lite on clearance $100 off for $70, I'm not sure if that'd have enough backbone or not? I'm tempted to buy and try it, just because I like a good deal 😎

Zebco 33 75th Anniversary Reel
I just bought my 6 yo son his first zebco 33 I definitely grew up fishing one, my dad still uses the one I grew up on. The new ones they advertise as being better/improved, but I highly doubt that's the case, at least from a quality/durability perspective. I'd be interested in buying this special edition, can't have enough of them laying around while raising boys
