I grabbed one of these as a gift, then had to run before the monkey got me. Dicks was advertising all rods 50% off sticker price in store. I don't know if this is every dicks or just a local thing but they had st croix and dobyns furys under the same signs. For what it's worth the rod didn't ring up for the online price in store, but I showed them the website and they adjusted it no issues.

First dry day this week and the fish decided to cooperate.

Monkey bit me one last time for 2023. Took advantage of the rod sale at TW, and purchased a gift card for 10% off to pay. Brought the out the door total down to $230.40

Had the urge to head down to the shoreline with about 30 minutes of daylight left. Third cast this little stripey decided to smoke the duo pencil.

I really like the Owner sniper finesse neko weedless size 1 or 2 with a 6mm crossover ring. Almost identical to the VMC you're using just titanium weed guards instead of fluoro. For whatever reason the titanium guards snag a lot less for me compared to fluoro. Downside is the guards will eventually snap off.

Just picked this rod up at a local tackle shop black Friday sale. I've only had it out one day so far and used it as a vertical jigging spoon rod and was really impressed for the price. Can't comment on any other Phenix rods for OP sorry.

Yeah the dual handle Vanquish are both shallow spool finesse models. The larger 3000 spool also allows for a bigger/smoother drag stack.

Only difference between the 2 models you listed is the frame size. C (compact) Shimano models use the larger spool on a 1 size downsized frame. First letter after the spool size denotes depth M, MS, S, SS from deepest to shallowest (no letter would be the deepest spool option). PG, HG, XG denotes gear ratios. DH = dual handle as you noted.

No largies today, cold shut them down a bit I think. But a solid day of striper fishing, had 21 total with 4 keepers. Largest was 23" 18/21 came on the A-rig, they didn't want anything else.

38F this morning, only had an hour or so to fish the bank. Managed one undersized striper on the spook.

One of my Tatula Elites came well greased but with bone dry bearings, it screamed like a banshee when casting. Like stated above a couple drops of oil in the spool bearings and a very light coat on the spool shaft and she's dead silent and definitely freer casting. I had to bump the brakes up 1 click after lubrication.

I'm going to be good and not buy any more 7s, but I will probably add a 9 to the collection eventually.

Was finally able to snag an original KGB 7" TSG. Missed out on plenty of drops but this color spoke to me.

Targeting striper on Sunday but still picked up a couple green bass on the A-rig.

I don't have a conquest but the brakes on my SLX and Aldebaran BFS don't click, it's just a constant movement like an SVS infinity dial.

Most of what I find is rusted out junk (I still keep it). Finally snagged something still in decent condition, Bomber long A that looked like it was lost that day.

Owner flashy swimmer for weedless. Usually bladerunners for exposed hook since I can buy them locally. Dirty jigs tb 1/8oz for bfs.
