  1. I own the 7'3 H and use it for swimbaits/A-rig. If I ever flipped big weights it's what I would use for that also. It's rated up to 3oz, I haven't gone that heavy but I'm typically throwing stuff around 2oz and it handles that great. I'm sure it could handle 3 if needed. Also TW is showing one 7'9XH in stock
  2. Doesn't affect anything, happens to every braid tag end
  3. Just go back to braid and all your issues will be solved!! In all seriousness, casting fluoro vs braid are very different. Fluoro requires much more braking power than braid does. Don't be afraid to turn your brakes up much higher than you have ever had to in the past when fishing braid. That was my issue when I first tried fluoro after only fishing braid in the past
  4. Apparently they are pretty heavy with the new blank material they are using. Saw a video where a 7'2" MH weighed 5.7oz. I'm not sure how this line will stack up against the competition with that significant of a difference in weight vs other options in that price range. Let us know how it is
  5. 90% of the reels I purchase I get a 7 speed. As others have stated, it's a good all around gear ratio that allows you to do just about whatever
  6. Zodias 6'10" MH F with 30lb braid. About to start experimenting with a TFO Professional 7' MH MF though. Want to see if I prefer the MF action. Have loved the Zodias though and used it for years now
  7. @casts_by_fly can tell you all you need to know about them!
  8. Jig 100%
  9. 20lb braid is too big for BFS imo. I'd try 10 or 8. 6lb fluoro works as well. For how I fish BFS, I like a rod rated 1/8-3/8. Should be able to cast the "heavier" end of the spectrum in most cases (5-7g)
  10. I started out kayak fishing and bought my first boat recently. I agree with you on the travel aspect - it can take FOREVER to get to places in the kayak. I have loved my boat so far but still use the kayak. I think kayaks are best suited for very small lakes or creeks/rivers. I fish my kayak in creeks/small rivers for smallmouth and love it for that. It's honestly probably my favorite type of fishing. I just put in at one spot and float down to the other. I don't have my kayak rigged with anything extra, so it's pretty barebones. The boat is essential though for fishing bigger water and you can do so much more with it. I'd say if you're only fishing bigger lakes then go with the boat. If you're fishing smaller stuff, keep the kayak. The most ideal is to keep both and use them in each of the scenarios they are best at though 😂
  11. I just had others in that L/P/A that I preferred over it. It wasn't getting much use
  12. Been super curious about this reel. There's really not a ton of long term reviews or anything on it. Glad to hear it's been good for you. I don't like the look of the knobs on the handle - any idea if it could be easily swapped with an aftermarket one? Also have you thrown any light stuff with it? I know it has a pretty lightweight spool. How's casting distance compared to a Shimano/Daiwa in a similar price point?
  13. I actually had this rod not long ago and sold it haha. Kinda wish I'd held onto it now Thinking about maybe trying a TFO Professional. They've got a 7' Mod Fast that's rated 3/8-1
  14. Amistad is a bit long for my taste but have heard great things about it
  15. You feel it can handle up to 1oz? Or close to it? They rate the Cara a MF but other lines have it as a fast I believe. Is the action different on the Cara version?
  16. Hmm. I may keep looking. I want to experiment with more mod fast-ish actions for moving baits. I've only ever really used a fast action in the past. And honestly the power/lure rating is prob a little overkill for what I'm trying to do. A 3/8-1oz would be more in line with what I'm throwing. But looking for something around 6'10" which is why I thought the eye crosser may work
  17. Who has experience with this rod? What do you like it for? Is it's lure rating accurate? A true fast action or a little slower like most Falcons? Considering it for heavier single hook moving baits
  18. I use 10lb braid but a lot of people use 8. I wouldn't go above 10 on BFS personally. Won't have any issues with line dig bc your drag will be set too light to dig in
  19. I would say no, at least not adequately. A 1/2oz jig really weighs more like 5/8 with the skirt and weedguard and that's before adding your plastic, which is prob between 5-8g on average. That puts you pretty close to a full oz. You could prob find a rod rated 1/4-3/4 that could fish the 1/8oz neds and a 3/8 jig decently. But 1/8oz Ned to 1/2oz jig is too wide a range in my opinion for one rod to do effectively
  20. I just didn't think it was very comfortable. I haven't fished it in a while so I suppose my opinion could be different now. But wasn't a fan when I tried it
  21. Anyone have any experience with these? I purchased a TFO Resolve Bass in the past and wasn't a fan, mostly due to reel seat. These have a different seat and are a super pretty rod so I'm somewhat intrigued. They list their rod weights on the site and they seem to run a little heavy. They have a couple of MHs in the 7-7'3" range that are ~5.5oz. Anyone given these a fondle? Do they feel heavy? Their weight is giving me pause on ordering one
  22. I bought a metanium on Amazon via I believe midway USA and a Curado 70 on Amazon from Amazon. Both are legit and arrived with no issues. As already commented above, should be good assuming your seller is a legitimate seller
