Ark Reinforcer 72MH MF
Anyone own this rod? If so, what do you think about it? Worth the price? Lightweight/sensitive? How's the action? What do you use it for? Curious about any insight you may have

ALF currently has all their Exprides discounted. Is a new Expride coming this year?

GLX Build Quality
I like the Steezes and Megabasses too. I think Ark and TFO make some really good looking rods as well. Just think Loomis has the prettiest, mostly due to their use of cork everywhere

GLX Build Quality
Haha fugly??? Crazy. I can't stand the rods that do too much. Think the NRX and GLX are the two best looking rods on the market Summerland

GLX Build Quality
That's pretty disappointing.... Probably won't be buying any more GLs in that case. I love their aesthetics and wish more rod manufacturers stuck to the classic cork handles and locking nut. I've only fished with mine once but it didn't wow me when I went. To me it's a prettier rod than it is some otherworldly performing one in my limited experience with it. Really feel like my Zodiases perform just as well and are lighter and 60% cheaper. Hard to justify ponying up $500+ for a rod that was slapped together with no care

Hi vis line?
I use chartreuse/neon green braid for as many of my reels as I can. I can't use a moss green due to not being able to see the line on the water. Always helps to be able to see your line for those light bites. I don't discriminate on it as far as only using it on certain techniques

GLX Build Quality
Yeah that's kind of how I feel. I've bought probably 50+ rods made in China over the years across various price points and honestly never had any issues of this sort. So for this to come from a US manufacturer that beats their chest to their build quality is kind of disappointing. I emailed them. Hoping they will exchange w/ no issues Haha that's what bothers me the most too 😂. Can't stop looking at it once I noticed it

GLX Build Quality
Bought my first Loomis this past Black Friday, one of the new GLXs. Got to looking at it and it's got some cosmetic issues (see pics). The cork on the locking nut is uneven and the the issue on the butt speaks for itself. Nothing that affects the rod's performance, but definitely sloppy work. You always hear about their craftsmanship and they make a big deal out of these being made in the US, but doesn't seem like the quality is there on mine. Is this standard for them? Should I contact Loomis and see about getting an exchange? Am I being too picky? Let me know y'all's thoughts.

Braid and leader questions
20 lb braid to 15 lb fluoro or mono leader would prob be my choice. I'd go a little heavier on the leader since it's an all around rod and you're fishing Texas rigs

Mustad UltraPoint Ball Jig Heads?
Glad you told me! I'll have to get on their site. Are the 6/0+ still a light wire? Or heavier?

Mustad UltraPoint Ball Jig Heads?
I recently bought a pack of the 1/8oz #2s for fishing small swimbaits and like them. Will prob buy some more

Dobyns vs Kistler sensitivity
The Heliums are insanely light if that's what you're looking for
-
Orochi xx vs. Expride B
Anyone have any experience with the 610MH? Is it as fast as the 72 or a little bit more versatile of an action?

The Falcon rods thread
Awesome. Great info! Thanks for the reply

What would you choose?
Spinning 1: 1/8-3/8oz rated, fast or mod fast (I tend to prefer mod fast on light wire hooks) for lightest weight finesse lures Spinning 2: 1/4-1/2oz rated, mod fast, small moving baits and small treble hooked lures Casting 3: 3/8-1oz rated, regular action. All purpose rod. Jigs, t-rigs, single hook or larger treble moving baits, topwaters, etc Casting 4: 1/2-1.5oz rated, fast or regular action. Larger/heavier jigs, t-rigs, larger moving baits. Pretty much just an upsized version of previous rod to handle heavier lures Casting 5: 1-4oz rated. Big swimbaits, A-rig, etc Should cover the gamut. Length depends on what you like/how you fish. I tend to prefer regular/mod-fast actions because I think they're a lot more versatile (which may serve you well if you're limiting your rods) and I lose less fish. I also fish braid to leader on everything. But action can also be dependent on what works best for you

The Falcon rods thread
Does anyone else own the Cara eye crosser? What are your thoughts on it and what do you use it for? Pros/cons, etc. I like sub 7' rods and there's not many out there with that lure rating. I'm not a technique specific rod guy so I like to buy rods that are more versatile (mod-fast ish action) when possible

Getting my first dedicated frogging setup but I am torn on which reel to use
Tranx 150 is a great frog reel. It's got a touch more drag than the curados (I want to say 14lbs) and is still pretty light with enough capacity for 50lb braid and frogs

Talk me out of a Steez
I'd go alphas SV over steez. Bought an A2 and wasn't impressed, sold it. Like my alphas a lot more
- Choosing a good all rounder reel, Curado MGL and Tatula SV TW top choices
-
Shimano Curado Casting Rod??
I've got the 6'10" and 7'2" MLs and love them for finesse stuff. Don't ever go out without one of those two
-
Ark Rods....
I love ark rods. I own 4-5 of them and will continue to buy more. You won't be disappointed. Which line are you looking at?
-
Braid
Cortland master braid and 832 are my favorites. Stay away from smackdown, power pro, and jbraid
-
If you were buying a dedicated frogging reel…
Tranx 150
