  1. Let's say I catch a bass on a bed. When I put it back, will it return to the same bed all the time? What if I catch it on a long cast down the shoreline? Do bass that make a bed always use that same bed until the season is over? Do they ever change beds if they find another that's unoccupied? Do... bass come back to the same area every year to spawn, will they make their bed in the same spot or close to the same spot, provided that the water depth and conditions are the same or very close?
  2. Howdy and welcome.
  3. Wow, very nice! I didn't know you could get one with the option for so many compartments. Of course, I don't compete, so I've been just dealing with various terminal tackle in the small bags they come in. Been looking for other options as I'm thinking about going with a backpack for a while instead of the shoulder bag I have been using.
  4. Awesome. I like catching bream. I prefer to catch them on small lures, like beetle spins.
  5. Interesting discussion. I've not tried fluoro at all. But I've been thinking about trying it for my mainline, just to see if I like it or not. I've tried braid a couple times, always small braid. It digs in too much. I've not tried heavier braid to see how I like it.
  6. A couple days ago I went to Freeman Lake and the water was 2 feet high. I pulled this guy off the flooded bridge. This one came out of the bush. Both with a curly tail grub on a jighead. Today before bible study at a private pond, I got into a few with the jig. Then, unfortunately lost the jig. Then I got my first catches on a bladed jig. Black Lizard for the boy. Took out this guys right eye unfortuanately. Nice solid 2 pounder. Mouth of the above. Not sure how this happened, but, I did feel a strike. After bible study we had a some pretty sky.
  7. Welp, I am official on a bladed jig. This one sent to me by a forum member didn't have a skirt. I happened to have a googan spinnerbait that I'd snagged but it had a badly rusted hook. The skirt was in acceptable shape though. I added a rage tail trailer I had, rigged vertical the way Tyler does them. Conditions was, hot, about 5:30 pm, and a hard bite. I ended up fishing some shady areas and got 3. This nice 2 pounder was the largest. The way the bite feels is interesting. This one took a swipe at it, and I gave it a quick jerk, as if I was in weeds (which I thought maybe I was in weeds) then he hammered it. I was using a slow rolling retrieve with occasional pulses. Mostly a constant retrieve in shallow water paralleling the bank. Thanks everyone for all your advice and support. I have a ways to go before I can say I'm officially confident in it, but this is a good start. I have another bladed jig with a white, or maybe a white and chartreuse skirt. I'll have to try it too, though I have more confidence in a darker color.
  8. Well, I finally bought some of the US Bait Co 3.5" screamers. They are much smaller than the old Rattlesnake worms. Body diameter is much smaller and weight is much lighter than I remember.
  9. I've been wanting to try the Fat Ika.
  10. I don't need any help from the bait monkey. A comment that has both "poop bait" and "DD" in it is all the coaxing I need.
  11. I'm thinking it might just be the ticket at the heavily pressured city lake I fish. Some good distance and something they probably ain't ever seen before.
  12. That's great, thank you.
  13. Glad you missed him. I've hit 1 and dented my front end and hood up and busted my radiator. I also have had one run into the side of my car and put a dent in it.
  14. Thanks for sharing that, and welcome to BassResource!
  15. I have often speculated that bass eat goose and duck scat.
  16. Interesting replies. I've not broken off hardly any on fish, but I have broken off when trying to get unsnagged when I think it should have held.
  17. Thanks! I searched on Yamamoto's website and didn't find it. Poop bait? That's a new term for me. A quick google search shows it's a thing. Ought to be interesting to learn about those and give them a try.
  18. I do this too, as well as inspecting anytime I've been into sticks or whatever.
  19. I was gifted some lures by one of our kind members, and there is a bag of these. They are in an unlabeled Yamamoto bag, which might mean something or not. Thanks all for the help.
  20. Let's say I'm catching fish, but not getting snagged or abraiding my line, how often should I retie? I normally use the Trilene knot, but sometimes the palomar, does it matter? Should I retie after a 4 pounder? Should I retie after a dozen smaller ones?
  21. I appreciate all the insight. I'm not super confident with a spinnerbait, though I have had some success with them. I think that might be one reason I want to learn the bladed jig.
  22. I'm interested to know myself as I'm not familiar with fluoros longevity.
  23. Just as the name says. I want to learn this thing. Yep, TylersReelFishing has once again planted a lure seed. He does well with them cranking them slow at the bottom. From watching him, he uses them more like a spinnerbait than a jig, but I know they kinda can be used like a jig. I also know that there are some here that detest the things. I want to hear from you too. Also, how popular are they? I mean.. do they fall under some people's radar? Or are they the popular lure whereas spinnerbaits have fell out of favor? I'd never heard of them until about 2 years ago when someone I was talking to at the lake suggested using one on the riprap.
  24. Wow, I feel for him. I bet that was long 6 hour wait. Being stranded like that is no fun at all.
  25. I didn't know MTB was gone. Thanks for info Glenn.
