you know that thick rubber band that comes with your Broccoli?
Interesting discussion. I've been thinking about doing the ziptie and split ring on one of my rods so I can remove the keeper as it's in a bad spot for me.

How do bass respond to a water outlet/intake?
This gives me some ideas, thanks all. I see evidence where others are fishing for panfish or cats there, as there are some bobbers stuck around it. Course... poor bobber casting doesn't mean a whole lot to me.

Last weekend was slow, but ended great!
Well... that's a lot of congratulations. Congratulations on the fishing trip, and on the half dozen? of boats. lol Make sure you get the papers to register those boats. I have one that I bought used, and turns out I am unable to register it unless I go to court since it's changed hands without paperwork since the original owner. I've used it a couple times with paddles (the only way legal in my state) and it was very fun. But for now, it's dead in the water.

Baby brush hog thoughts
I've been fishing the baby brush hog some, and having some success. Even having success with it at the city lake I fish which has a lot of pressure. I think not many people fish it. So far, I've only fished 2 colors, green pumpkin and okeechobee craw. What is everyone's favorite colors? I've been fishing it Texas rigged with 1/8oz or 1/4oz bullet sinker, hopped along the bottom. How does everyone else use it?

How do bass respond to a water outlet/intake?
One of the places I fish sometimes is a small local reservoir. It has a water outlet or intake, which flows back into the natural creek it originally came from. I don't know how much water the city uses, if any. Does anyone know what this is actually called? It's like a giant square hole. I've not fished around this much, but the times I have, I haven't had any success. It doesn't appear to be very fast flowing. So how will largemouth respond to this?

What are your go to crankbaits?
I haven't had experience with a lot of different crankbaits, but so far I've had pretty good success with: H20X Squarebill H20X Mini Squarebill Fat Free Guppy Fat Free Fingerling Rapala Shad Rap Rapala Shallow Shad Rap 6th Sense Crush 50x I also have had pretty good success with Ozark Trails 1/3oz round bill crankbaits at the river. I don't have the confidence to fish them at my local lake, but in the current I do get bit on them. I think that the current masks any issues with them running straight, and not being quite so good.

Gonna have to get good at middle of the day fishing
I fish a lot during the hot part of the day. The bite is slower, but it's still there. I assume you're bank fishing, like me. I guess you already know to fish any shade, even if it's a tiny sliver. I've found pretty good success using texas rigs and curly tail grubs. I also have had success using crankbaits. Squarebills and deeper crankbaits in the 6' range that can get out to the edge of the shallower water. I've found that there is most often some type of structure change not far from shore - a weed line, or rock line, or drop off that the shallow bass often move to, but they don't go super deep, just to the next deepest structure, and are still available from the bank. This ranges from about 10 feet out to 20 feet out, depending on the body of water. The other thing I've had luck with working over that deeper area is topwater, specifically the Spit'n Image. I suppose any walking bait would work. I work them slower, with a twitch every 1 to 2 seconds most of the time.

Ultra-light worm weight?
I didn't know they even made them that small. The smallest I've seen (and use) is a 1/16 from Eagle Claw. They are painted black, and have a hollow base to fit over the head of the hook. They work well for me.

Thanks all. I found one of these last year and have yet to use it.- How does one utilize jerkbaits of this type?
How does one utilize jerkbaits of this type? Jerkbaits aren't something I'm familiar with, other than the Rapala minnow. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Strike_King_KVD_100_Jerkbait/descpage-SKKJ1.html- First 6+ on Grand Traverse Bay

Somehow got this picture when putting the phone away. Fish can't see my rod cause it's camo.- Favorite Bullet Weights?
I reckon I'll have to try them out.- Pressure from livescope?
That's some good info right there. I don't think I'd like fishing that way, but I do think I'd love learning about fish that way.- Favorite Bullet Weights?
Almost everyone is using tungsten weights, surprising. I've never tried them. I do have one I found and I'll try it. Heck, it's not uncommon for me to lose a texas rigs. I lost one today. $2 each per weight will add up quick for me, so what is the advantage over lead?- Old Gear Causing Injuries?
I am a carpenter, mostly working in a furniture shop for 20 years. If I cast a pistol gripped rod, or try to cast one handed, it hurts my wrists. But I can fish all day if I use a rod where I can put my off hand on the bottom of the grip when casting. And I can get some decent distance too. It's all in the rod tip, and speed of the motion, not necessarily the power of the motion. If I put my body and shoulders into it, I can cast farther, but I don't do that repeatedly. I am right handed and I have an injury to my left elbow. I also cast some left handed. I've noticed that if I do so very much, I get pain. Probably from poorer form, but I digress, If your buddy can learn to cast left handed, he could spread the load out.- Favorite Bullet Weights?
What's everyone's favorite bullet weights? Does anyone still use lead? I've been using Eagle claw and Ozark Trail brand and I can't say I'm unhappy. I'm just wondering what all is out there.- Fishing gloves?
I have hearing loss from shooting without protection as well as woodworking machinery without protection. I am thinking about doing the sun shirt and gloves thing for any of the longer days on the water.- Fishing gloves?
I spend a good bit of time outside... I get burnt occasionally, but mostly I get tan. I thought it was just what country folks did. I don't think I've ever used sunscrean. It's possible momma put some on me when I was a small child. I haven't ever used it as far back as I can remember though.- In Praise of Dinks
I enjoy catching small ones. I often downsize my lure in order to get the small ones on the hook.- Fishing gloves?
Interesting discussion. I've never given the sun much thought other than not getting sunburnt.- Pressure from livescope?
I've been watching After the Cast, as well as Ott Defoe and Edwin Evers channels on youtube. One of the things I've noticed them talking about is that they will not have success using livescope. Sometimes the fish either ignore their offering or they run from it. They didn't say it specifically, but it makes me think that fish are getting wise to livescope. Anyone think that fish will ever get educated to it, and that it'll become less effective, essentially leveling the playing field again?- Powerbait Bass Attractant Thoughts?
I have thought about making my own scents from grinding worms and shad. Then dipping the appropriate lure in the mixture immediately before fishing. For the worms, I could, also keep some soft plastics in a tub of live worms, which would impart some of their scent onto the plastic worms. I haven't thought it through enough yet.- I've never seen anything like that.
