What are your go to crankbaits?

I own way to many crankbaits and keep buying more.  Currently my most used ones are.

Square bills.

Academy Sports H20

6th Sense Crush 50, 100 Cloud Nine Mine Mag, and Cloud Nine Magnum

Old Bagleys BB 2.  ( my favorite, but I'm down to my last one)

Mid  depth.

Bomber Model A 7 A

Spro Rock crawler

Rapala DT 10

6th Sense Cloud 9 C 10

Deep

6th Sense Cloud 9 C 15

Rapala DT 16

Strike King 6 XD

I have almost every color ever made, but most of the time I use something with Chartreuse, or some type of shad color.  For no logical reason, I have always preferred colors that have some purple in them. These are the baits I fish most of the time, but I still bring many more with me every time I go fishing.  Some days when it is slow I  simply stare in my many boxes until I find one that for no reason looks right.  Many times it will be an old one that I haven't fished in years, and it usually will work.  I don't care what brand model or color, some crankbaits are magic and some aren't.  That is why I keep buying more.

That’s a great list.  I’d just add Luhr Jensen Speed Trap and Hot Lips and the Norman’s Deep Little N.  All three are great baits.

I haven't had experience with a lot of different crankbaits, but so far I've had pretty good success with:

H20X Squarebill

H20X Mini Squarebill

Fat Free Guppy

Fat Free Fingerling

Rapala Shad Rap

Rapala Shallow Shad Rap

6th Sense Crush 50x

I also have had pretty good success with Ozark Trails 1/3oz round bill crankbaits at the river. I don't have the confidence to fish them at my local lake, but in the current I do get bit on them. I think that the current masks any issues with them running straight, and not being quite so good.

I have just got some new Black Label Baits crankbaits which I will use this summer.  Don’t forget Cotton Cordels big O.  LC and Rapala make so many I can’t fishing them but they are usually good.

Square bills.  Rebel Wee R, Rogers Big Jim, Rapala crankin raps.

mid depth .Rebel Deep Wee R. Bomber model A. Rapala Fat Rap, Berkely Dredger 10.5, Storm Wiggle Wart.

Deep divers over 10 foot . Norman Deep Little N, Berkely Dredgers. Rapala Cranken Rap 14.5.

I'll add lipless. Red Eye  Shad . Silent , double tap and rattling. I have one silent model that the weight is loose. Its my favorite but I rarely throw it because I'm afraid to lose it.

For mid and deep cranking, I use Rapala DTs exclusively.

I don’t really throw square bills.

Shallow is all I have been throwing since the Golden Mussel closures hit California.  For all practical purposes, I have chosen the CA Delta as the body of water to be exclusive with so not a lot of depth involved.

Shallow:  Hybrid Hunter exclusively.  (Not counting wakebaits)

Mid depth:  Red Eye Shad (yo-yoing outside weed line which is still pretty shallow)

I have had some success with the following cranks -

-OSP EX DR

-OSP MAX DR

-Megabass Super Z3

-Strike King 5XD

-Teckle Drunker

-Megabass Griffon/Cyclone

-Imakatsu Runvolt 120/80

In the shallower range the Imakatsu Geisha Shad has worked well

I've been kayaking many California lakes lately.

the Deps Evoke 1.8(?) is killing it.. but my old Bill Lewis in that weird orange craw color is the MVP.  it is so cool yanking a shallow crank thru weeds.  the bass smoke it when It comes out of the grass.

Rapala DTs and Rapala OG Roccos for squarebills. I'm pretty much a Rapala fanboy

I don’t have many, but the most recent purchases have been the Strike King XD models.

I’m stuck on the bank. So cranks aren’t really an option lol. But I love reading about them lol

This is what I use too.  Although I will admit that in recent memory, crank baits have not been a regular producer for me.

Shallow versions are the storm subwart and the XPS super shallow crank aka the egg.

I use a lot of Rapala DT. I’m trying to get into the Strike King XD crankbaits, as well. The Rapala BX Brat squarebill is a one bad little dude. I’ve been using mine more the past couple of seasons with success.

I never threw cranks much until I got sponsored by SPRO.  Even then I was hesitant.  I tossed my buddy a Little John in Cell Mate on one trip and watched him catch 6 fish in 6 casts.  It was a game changer for me.  We threw them a lot on St Clair and did very well.  Smallmouth, largemouth, white and yellow perch, walleye and a few pike and muskies.  I have a lot of all sizes of SPRO cranks and lipless in my tackle but since GSM purchased Bill Lewis, I have been migrating my cranks over to that line.  I haven’t used them enough to have an opinion yet.  The only other crank I ever throw is an original Manns baby minus 1 on the Potomac over the grass.  Those river bass can’t stand it.

Baby 1minus.......trap.....bomber squarebill......

Either a Bandit 100 or Berkley Frittside 5. Have a bunch of other brands but these 2 get used the most.

Jeez. This thread just reminded me I haven’t fished a crankbait (other than lipless and wakebaits) in several years. There’s just too much vegetation here.

I like the Evergreen SH-3 or 6th Sense Crush 100x for squarebills. For 10' or so I like a 6th Sense Cloud 9 or Crush 250MD and the Cloud 9 in lavender citrus has done well for me when the water is more stained. For deeper ones I like the Cloud 9 C15, 300DD, or a Strike King 6XD Hard Knock. The Evergreen is a bit expensive but it casts really well which helps if you are throwing from a bank (which I usually am if I'm throwing a squarebill). One thing that all of these have in common is they have more of a knock to them rather than a traditional rattle which I personally prefer.

For lipless crankbaits I like the LV 500 DRS in ghost minnow or the LV 500 in pearl threadfin or mh chartreuse shad which is sort of like a chrome one but just a bit different. Lucky Craft also makes an LVR D model which they say goes through grass better. I was skeptical about that claim at first, but after trying it a bit I do really like it in the pond I go to where there's a lot of bluegill (and grass). The 6th Sense Quake in bluegill fire is the other one I like for that sort of thing...

I throw crankbaits a lot. A have some Rapala DT. Square bills are a mixture of Spro and 6th Sense. I fish the SPRO Little John a lot. The regular,MD and DD. I have a box of Rock Crawlers as well. For Lipless I like Bill Lewis.

I like bomber and strike king squarebills.
For everything else I like Rapala.   Strike King medium and deep divers cast like tumbling potato chips for me.
I’m clearing out the sk diving lures to donate to someone or trash them.

Fish from the bank mostly in clear water around rip rap. Not a crankbait man BUT like to downsize and fish the Strike King lipless Bitsy Shad 3/16oz with 6 # test spinning with Shimano Solstace paired with BPS med. light Tourney Special 2pc 6'6" spinning rod. Also, like the Academy H2OX Shallow Running 1/8oz crankbait. Downsize looking for bites that will get some panfish but in the mix usually a Largemouth Bass.

Good Fishing
