Ollies got me again, their pricing leaves a lot to be desired since it must be based on how much of something they have. They have tattle traps the original Bill Lewis but have them priced ar 5.99, i know that its cheaper than retail but not by much, anyway done with my rant... They had multiple boxes of soft plastics, Netbait paca craws all sizes and lots of googan plastics. I know many not a fan of googan and twnd to agree but some of the plastics are decent like the krackin craw in different sizes along with stick baits and drop shot etc...the NetBait and Googan plastics were all 1.99 per packet...so of course I had to *cough* get a few.

Take it from an older dude, I know its easy to think your better but its better to bite the bullet and just recover properly. Otherwise you end up making thjngs worse and making recovery even longer...just do what the doctor says to do, frustrating but better in the long run. I missed almost a whole year of fishing due to two open heart surgeries, 6 months apart, so trust me I can relate.. Hope both you folks recover fully and can soon get back into it full swing.

Whats your favorite technique for that in between time spawn/post spawn LMB
I tried a lot of different things today, fluke (weighted), whacky, squarebill, buzzbait, pop-r, small underspin swimbait, spinnerbait, bladed jig. I caught some dinks on squarebill, couple of dinks on bladed jig and one keeper on bladed jig. I guess I have a lot of other things to try as mentioned above, I did not throw any bottom baits pretty much all moving baits. Next on the list will be a swimjig, weightless trig trick worm, d-bomb and maybe a compact jig. Just crazy that things were on fire couple weeks ago and now its really slow, one here one there etc, nothing that I can pattern etc...will be going back out on wednesday. Was bluebird skies and I went out in the afternoon time frame.

Whats your favorite technique for that in between time spawn/post spawn LMB
Nice explanation, in my case its a smaller body of water (600 acres) and the upper end is really stained from all the rain, chocolate milk and the lower is clearer but lightly stained maybe 1-2ft visibility. Kind if been throwing the same things, chatter, spinner, jig, squarebill some buzz. I was just thinking of what else to try, i think I will tie on a pop-r and a fluke and maybe a prop bait...just wasnt sure during this period what would be better to try. In my reaponse i left out whacky rig trick worm...i think all my zoom trick worms have salt but I fish a small weedless hook with my whacky rig and could just trig the worm instead, thanks.

Ive thrown a buzz bait and no takers. I usually always have one tied on since I like throwing them... Im not targeting spawing bass either but i am fishing shallow, water is stained enought that I cannot see beds or fish for that matter, Im just trying to catch fish....

We have had such warm weather that the fish have been spawning sooner that normal and we went from really active shallow fish to now where things have really slowed down. Water is not clear enough for me to really spot fish but pretty sure things have progressed and we are in that stage where fish are spawning and guarding fry to post spawn. For that time of the year just wanted to hear what most folks have had success with and what technique has worked the best to continue catching LMB. Thanks

But we are saving money.....just keep saying that to yourself. Oh and there is another thread that serves as therapy and support if needed, the baitmonkey support group ;) https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/259717-latestrods-reels-purchase-thread-bait-monkey-victim-support-group

Yeah ollies is hit or miss for me, even when they have stuff I want to buy the prices are not always that great. Don't get me wrong I have bought some stuff lately just would buy more if prices were lower.

I could gave swore it worked differently but I guess Inalways bought the same price items. At least in the store you could purchase them separately to get things to work out. Honestly i wish the local store carried everything at some point I think they are just going to stop having any fishing stuff....

Right the problem is online if you purchase items for different prices they credit you the lower price item. Its not an issue if all of the items are the same price. Doesnt work that way in the store, each item once you reach 3 will ring up 50% off, doesnt work that way online. I just wanted to make sure folks were aware of the difference since it is different.

Yup I've never had any issue at the store either but we only have one store left that has any fishing stuff and they have very poor selection. Real shame but once bass pro opened stores here, Dicks started pulling all the fishing stuff out of all the stores, only one left and its fishing section stinks.

PSA (Public Service Announcement) Pretty sure everyone except me knows this but Dicks is having the b3g3 on rapala and strike king and the only store that is close to me has little to no fishing so I thought I would order online. The b3g3 is about the best deal going when available and is even better if there is a store nearby so you do not have to qualify for free shipping. What I have learned though and this is the PSA bit, if you have items that are $8ea and you purchase six AND you purchase 6 other items that are $4ea you would think that you get three of the $8 free and then three of the $4 items free. But that is not how it works when you purchase both at the same time, if you combine those in the same purchase then it gives you the LOWEST price item as the free item so in the example it would make all of the $4 free. This is not an issue when in the store since you can just purchase each group separately but that is not possible online. The only way I have been able to get it to work online is to chat with a rep and explain that you want to make two purchases and have shipping credited since the combination would qualify for free shipping. I have been able to do this and get the proper discount AND get free shipping when the combined total is high enough to qualify for free shipping. Again probably everyone knows but when I was adding my lower value items my discount total that they show in the cart was getting smaller and I didn't understand why. But as Paul Harvey would say, now I know the rest of the story, good day! ;)

Lowland Reservoir LMB staging areas
Depends on where you are on the lake, upper end is chocolate milk from the rain, lower end of the lake has about 2ft of visibility. Heard from a guy that fished finnese jigs yesterday and caught plenty so I guess like I have said I need to cover all the water column and start throwing more jigs and plastics....

I have a 3/8 football wobble head tied on right now with a meance grub. I didnt fish it today but did on monday, more like slow rolling along the bottom. I have some 1/2oz also, just no takers on monday. Today caugh one keeper 2lb and a bunch of dinks probably over 10. Really windy today and caught most on rocco and a flat side strike king 1.5, caught another on a jerkbait but they were all small, really small. Not aure where the bigger fish are staging or where to start or what. All of the small ones and the one keeper were shallow. I should also say I threw multiple different chatterbaits, couple different swimjigs and a spinnerbait. Was catching some fish on the cranks so I fished them the most. What frustrates me is there was a tournament couple sundays ago and top 2 weights were 19 and 20lbs but the water has cooled and we got a good bit of rain but the lake can fish good if you can figure something out. One more thing this is the bigger of the 2 lakes, 600 acres.

Yeah thats one of my problems I need to get better at figuring out which brush piles are the ones to fish, the one thing the lake has is lots of docks and lots of brush piles. I just need to figure out how to be more efficient figuring out what and where. I have electronics but there are so many trash fish that I'm not good enough to know what I am looking at etc....I should be a lot better at this given my age but I'm not, lol..watch and read a lot of stuff and I can do just about all the techniques its just figuring out the where and what at this point again I just need to figure out how to be more efficient with trying a higher water column, middle water column and bottom column bait and then where. I have tended to do more moving baits so I can cover water and need to find a bottom bait that I can still use quicker to cover water. The other day I thought I would try the upper end that was more muddy, water temps are cooler, upper 50's just to see if anything was going on up there and spent a good amount of time trying things but nothing. Talked to a guy that had fished the lower end, still stained but better and had been catching fish, not a great number but still better than what I was doing. Again I just need to move on from something quicker if not working and have several baits that I cycle through. Any suggestions for a bottom bait that can be fished quicker than normal I am all ears. Good thing I like just being on the water on the boat, maybe one of these days things will click, lol...;)

No grass to speak of since its a big water sport lake sking, tubes etc so any weeds get killed pretty fast. There are some shore lines that have water willow which can be a bear to fish around since if you get snagged its goodbye to whatever your using...i need to get better at trying all of the water column. The other day I couldn't get a bite on moving baits and I should have tried a bottom bait, just harder to cover water with a bottom contact bait at least for me.

Lowland Reservoir LMB staging areas
Yeah when I say lowland thats probably the closest thing to what these are. They are small man made lakes with mud bottoms and not very deep. The smaller lake I was fishing is around 60 acres and while it has some depper sections towards the dam (deeper spots are 25-30ft) the majority of the lake is pretty shallow. I fished mid lake to the upper ends where its pretty shallow and I guess I should have stayed near deeper water. Only rock is along the banks for erosion, most houses have sea walls and docks. No real rock offshore, just lots of Christmas tree brush piles. My guess they are chasing the shad but I don't have FFS to really see whats going on. I just need to figure out additional strategies that can help me find the fish and then figure out what to throw....

Lowland Reservoir LMB staging areas
Yeah thats my problem, i can't seem to find them...I caught 2 dibks on a jerkbait and fish anlot of places with a lot of stuff and thats all I can muster. There was a pretty good breeze, tried chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, couple of different crankbaits. Not sure what I need to learn to look for, I saw lots of bait but couldn't find any pattern. These are small lakes, the one today is only 60 acres, water temp at the dam end was 54 and at the other end was 56. I probably should have tried a bottom bait but the lake has all this slime algae growing everywhere and bottom lures get coated. I would think the bass would be feeding more with warmer temps but man I seem to struggle...I still have so much to learn, lol.
