Ned rig heads
Thanks wish they had more space going up to the head. Am I crazy for wanting a bigger hook, does it kill the action? I'm just afraid that I will break hooks even if I have the drag set properly.

Ned rig heads
I did a search and didn't really find what I was looking for so I thought I would ask. I want to try to fish ned rigs more over the winter but can't really find the hook combination that I like and its probably my issue but thought I would ask. The lakes I fish have lots of brush and not a lot of rock so I really need a weedless presentation. I have some texas style ned jigs but the hooks are tiny. I know thats the idea but is it really crazy to want a 2/0 hook? Is a 1/0 really the biggest that I should go? Looking for suggestions for texas rigged ned head, thanks.

Low profile baitcast reels, Shimano SLX 70 mgl alternatives
Yeah facebook is a joke most of the time folks selling stuff about what you can get new, yea no thanks. I would have to look at the 19 slx mgl but my guess if it has xship (pinion support bearing) its probably d**n near the same thing as the 16 scorpion which inwas getting for a erage $75-85 a reel...some new in box I picked up for $100. The newer curado mgl have an extra shaft bearing and the micro module gears, those are the ones I got on AE for 128, they are a sweet reel.

The 16 scorpions are a very nice reel, carbontex drags, xship (pinion support), the 70 series have shallow spools. They basically sit between the slx reels (not the mgl slx) and the newer curados. The newer 21 curado mgls have that extra shaft bearing and micro module gears. I did pick last time a slx70 mgl and it was basically a scorpion and they sometimes are cheaper than the 16 scorpions. The one I picked up wasnin rough shape and was geary when winding, opening it up it had water and I assume it was saltwater since the pinion support bearing had some rust spots. Soaked all the bearings in my cheap ultrasonic cleaner and cleaned the reel and lube everything and good as new...some I have gotten that were like new but just fyi you should be able to tear them down and clean if needed which is really easy imho. One more thing, the nice thing about the shimano even though they are jdm reels most everything is common to the us reels, you can go to shimano website and order just about any part that you would need and they are pretty reasonable on prices. If you have any more questions about them let me know. I will also say this the metaniums are the next level up and super nice reel they are out there also ...

I wish i had ordered more from AE, they are exactly the same tha I can tell. Once all the tarriff stuff started happening i started buying from Buyee and bought 16 Scorpions. The problem is left hand reels are not as common and it can be a mixed bag. Probably bought 10 reels that way, some look brand new others are more beat on than my reels. But i have a bunch of spare parts and only 1-2 reels needed anything besides a pinion bearing. The curados from AE have one additional bearing on the handle shaft AND have micro module gears but once the tariffs hit they are much more expensive, I think the cheapest now are 150 w/ import fees. Last three I bought from buyee including the extra fees were more like $110, before tariffs I was avg 80-90 a reel. I like the scorpions though and they are smooth with a pinon support bearing but if the cost was the same I would get the newer curados. The newer curados on tacklewarehouse go for 250 so the ones on AE are still cheaper just not as cheap pre tariffs.

Eh at least with getting stuff from amazon it doesn't scream "tackle" as opposed to getting it from tacklewarehouse etc...I'm old enough now not to care any longer...but thats just me, old and grumpy

Honestly I am not sure what it is, appears to be overstock or liquidations...it's not really clear what it is, all of my stuff that I have received appears to be brand new in box....only appears to be a deal when they have the additional percentage off....I added all my stuff up numbers wise and divided by what I spent and it average $2.70 per item, just crazy prices. Again they are limited in colors etc but crazy prices.

Agree its really clunky but appears to be pulling from all of there warehouses somehow since I am getting stuff shipped from everywhere...probably should be glad that its not easier since I would have spent more $$...lol.

You don't but have to have Prime but free shipping you have to meet $25 for free shipping. Not sure if you are prime member if it removes that restriction or not. I do have prime but I ordered so much stuff that it wouldn't have mattered in my instance, I ordered so much that I hit the limit for number of items that they allow in an order, lol.

Yeah I think with the pricing they just run discounts at different times...maybe when they hit a certain number of backlog or something but I know they had a sell a couple months ago so it's something that will have to keep an eye out and I am sure it will get posted here, lol... Dunno all the stuff I have gotten so far looks brand new, crazy...and with everything going up this was about the only sale that really had great prices...wish I had seen the rage chunks would have picked up some of them also, thats the one issue hard to find stuff but crazy site for sure..hope they keep doing the sales in the future...

One more thing to keep in mind, right now the discount is not as much as it was last week, I'm sure they will discount things again just have to keep an eye on it but they prices last week were much better than what I see right now they had like a 50% discount last week...

Its a new site called amazon haul, just google that and it will come up then when your on the site you almost have to search for anything your interested in, like since you were buying swimbaits, search for swimbaits and it will show you all of the swimbaits. I dont thjnk they have Keitechs but they have a lot of stuff and most is cheap...so maybe you get some new things to try... Lucky you mine have been singles but the price I paid for them they are about as cheap as the walmart frogs, lol...

Amazon Haul update, I'm not sure how they are making money on this stuff or how it works but I ordered a bunch of stuff and things that I like I would get multiples. I noticed when I was getting shipping notifications it was a bunch of them. This stuff comes from any warehouse in the US sometimes one thing in a mailer. So far I have gotten 9 packages all from different warehouses (OK, MA, WA, NY, MD, IA, TN, KS) and still have mote to come. They must get this stuff for nothing since most of the shipping would be more than the item.

Actually a lot of good deals on the site, just hard to find stuff. They do not have good categories etc, just have to search for stuff and see what comes up. The other thing that is crazy is how things ship, they must be coming from all over since I ordered a bunch of stuff and its coming in like 10 separate shipments and even though I bought multiples of one item they may come from different locations. Would like to understand what this is and how it works but the prices are dope.

Following up on this, I decided to order some rods since I felt this was a pretty decent deal and wanted some composite rods for cheaper than normal. While I am very glad they have the sale the way that it works is a little disappointing. If you purchase 4 of the same rod series then it works as expected. If you purchase more expensive rods and have less expensive rods then the less expensive rods are the ones you get free. I wanted 4 rods and was trying to get free shipping, I had 2 of the Cobb series in the cart and wanted 2 of the invoker series rods, when I added the invoker rods it then changed the cobb series to free and you purchased both invoker at the higher price. I was hoping if you bought 2 invoker one would be free and then 2 cobb one would be free but it doesn't work that way unfortunately. Still a pretty good deal but wish it worked differently but I assume that is how they want it to work, I would have liked to have purchased 2 of the more expensive along with the lesser expensive but wasn't as good of a deal at that point. Just thought I would pass this along.

I really would like to start doing this but all of the casting blanks that I see for cheap appear to be fast models. I do not see any for $25 buts some of the kits appear to be decent deals, I need to learn more about all the components....

It was total number of items, I got to a point where I would add something and it would remove something from my cart...kind of lame but guess it stopped me from continuing to buy stuff, lol.

I hit the maximum number in cart limit...there are lots of stuff on there but like everyone is saying the way you find stuff is pretty archaic, you basically have to search for general brands and see what they have like these kind of searches, strike king, rapala, bill lewis, berkley, yamamoto, etc...then wade through the listings. I got some zakos, hammer traps, frittsides, 5xds, rage bugs, swamplords, sk menace, hair/preacher jigs and lots of other stuff..picking up crankbaits for under $2, crazy stuff. Some limited colors but enough that are good enough at least for me...

I also found that they limit the total number of stuff in your cart, which is crazy but I guess uou could make multiple orders but I hit the limit, lol.

Late Fall, early winter struggles need some ideas....
Sounds good, not sure I have any...I have some bucktail jigs but nothing like what was mentioned above. The smaller lake is fishing pretty tough, really clear water and at least for me tough to figure out where and what they want. Overcast day with pretty good breeze with a front coming through tonight. I thought jerkbait would be the ticket but nada and I threw multiple versions and just nothing interested. Tried spinner bait, bladed jig, rattle trap (caught one dink), deep flickershad crankbait, and bill lewis deep crankbait, caught a couple in 10ft brush piles and that was it. Lake is not that big and has some deep spots to it (deep for this lake is 30ft or so). I am up for suggestions in regards to hair jigs suggestions. I am going to pick up a couple more blade baits and some additional tail spinners but would be nice to figure out where the bass are, at least the bigger ones, lol.
