  1. Yup that is what the Dicks sporting good store worker told me, that since we had a Bass Pro Store in our location they decided to remove the fishing section... unfortunately for me they do not have sales that are near as good, sigh. Academy appears to be doing the same thing, fishing section getting smaller and smaller.
  2. I caved and just ordered online and have to get free shipping which means I bought a boat load. Minimaxes, evo's, freeloaders, mooches and I wanted to finish it off with some trd's but for some reason they were not buy 3 get 3, bummer. I ended up getting some crush city ned rolls, guess we will see if they catch fish...
  3. I had that happen last time I ordered minimaxes from them. All I had to do was send pictures and chat online with the customer rep and they sent me a replacement, got to keep the mini...the lack of a clasp is the give away.
  4. Dicks is really gotten to be the worse for me, they have stores everywhere near me but have removed the fishing section out of all of them except one that is way further out...seems like at some point they are not going to do any fishing. Now I need to decide if I want to drive an hour...ugh
  5. Yeah it really is the best deal when they have it, basically becomes buy one get one...they have it on strike king, zman etc...bought nice chatterbaits that basically become 50% off. I have one store near me that carries fishing stuff and was going to take a drive tomorrow and see what they have on hand...i know I shouldnt but I am anyway, lol.
  6. Been waiting on this do you know how long the sale runs?
  7. Welcome to the RIGHT side 😜 EH I'm an older guy and when I started fishing with baitcasters pretty much all that was available were right hand retrieves, just what it was....what was funny was I originally started on old Mitchell's spinning reels and they were lh retrieve, go figure. It was just baitcasters that were RH, wasn't until a couple years ago that I picked up some LH retrieves that were on clearance and took a little bit to get used to them but for any moving baits they are about all I use if available...RH still out number the LH but not by a lot...
  8. I have been reeling with the wrong hand all my life and picked up a few LH retrieves couple of years ago...now I am replacing most of the RH retrieves....they still out number the LH but I am only buying LH now when I can get find a good deal...
  9. Clearance at any of my local stores this year have been almost non existent, totally different from last couple of years. Usually Walmart, Academy etc have a good bit of stuff..not much this year at all..I usually would be tempted to drive to the one that has fishing stuff but the 10in of snow this weekend have roads still a mess... maybe be take a drive later this week.
  10. Must be local or in store sale since its not listed on the website...
  11. Thats what I have noticed also, they have these decent sales but you think ok to purchase something and they are out of stock...smdh
  12. I need to make a trip to Ollie's, dang never thought about that...thanks for that tip, my wife not so much. ..
  13. I get the Ned Khde Newsletter and here is the tribute from Ned from his email: Dion Hibdon of Versailles, Missouri, died on Jan. 12. He and his father, the late and great Guido Hibdon, played significant roles in the development of Midwest finesse fishing. Moreover, his grandfather, Guido Clinton Hibdon, Sr. and uncles were important forefathers to the art and science of Midwest finesse fishing. For instance, back in the late 1950s and early 1960s, they introduced us to the virtues of a split-shot rig. In 1977, Dion Hibdon used a soft-plastic worm to create the original Guido Bug for his school's science project in Versailles, Missouri. After that initial creation, the Hibdons, along with Stella Hibdon and her brother Virgil Conner, handcrafted thousands of Guido Bugs. Guido and Dion taught us various ways to rig it and present it to largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and spotted bass in a variety of waterways, and it became a standard-bearer in the repertoire of the early Midwest finesse devotees, who affixed it to either a small skirted jig or a small skirtless jig. On a skirtless jig, we used it the same way we used the Beetle and Puddle Jumper. This is the Guide Bug Dion created and his family manufactured. It is 3 1/2 inches long. It is interesting to note that decades ago the Hibdons used to use a sewing needle to sew a thread or two or three or four from a rubber jig skirt through the torso of the Guido Bug, which is somewhat similar to what the dice or fuzzy baits Japanese finesse anglers recently created and U.S. lure companies are manufacturing, such as Z-Man Fishing Products’ Fuzzy TRD, Fuzzy BugZ, and Fuzzy NuggetZ. In the finesse world, the Hibdons were stellar pathfinders. 14. yea, you and me both....lol. I have tried blade baits but no luck with them either....
  15. In a boat and I have electronics but no FFS, I've not really found the bass and assume they are stuck to the bottom. I have seen loads of crappie but thats part of the problem I have not had any luck finding them. Really surprised, I have thrown a jerkbait a good bit and no takers, I caught some when the water temp was in the 50's but after it dropped into the 40's nada. I need to do some more research but starting to wonder if the majority are florida strain and they are just really lethargic when the water is cold but need to talk to some folks and see if they know.
  16. Weather has been up and down and I think its now 3 or 4 times that I have been out and not had a single strike, oof. Don't get me wrong I would rather be on the water and not catching anything vs doing other stuff, I usually go out on nice days so its not nasty weather. I had the same issue last year, when the water temp drops to 40 degrees or lower I can't seem to figure out or get a bite. I usually go out in the afternoon after the sun has been up and warmed things up a little and maybe I should be out at sunrise but again I prefer the comfortable side of fishing. The lake that I am fishing is pretty small lake, 60 acres or so and most of it is shallow, 10ft or less. Towards the dam it does get deeper, I think deepest spots are mid thirties. I have tried quite a few things shallow and deeper water but just not having any luck figuring out what might be the best lure to find them. To make matters worse the only thing I am seeing on sonar is LOTS of crappie, lots and lots plus some smaller shad balls but not the large balls I was seeing earlier. Lake does not have a lot of off shore rock and pretty much the only thing off shore is brush piles, lots and lots of them. I've tried crankbaits through some of the brush piles and no takers as of late. Here are some of the things that I have tried and just looking for other suggestions for water temps around or below 40 degrees, and pretty clear water 4-5ft visibility. Jerkbaits, shallow and deep styles swimbaits, small and large single colorado spinnerbait fat albert grub on jig head ned rig z-man trd (really thought I would get some bites on this but nothing so far) multiple styles of flat side crankbaits, fritts, shad rap, wart, multiple styles of lipless (traps) 5/8 jigs with trailer, tried a couple different trailers through and around brush piles Probably other things that I have tried but the one thing I had read that thought I may try was a drop shot with a fat albert grub about 16" up and drag that along the bottom. There are a few folks fishing for crappie and they do catch a bass from time to time with a small crappie jig so thought maybe that might work but other than that not sure what else to try. Just thought i would get some additional ideas, thanks!
  17. Thats odd wouldnt think that would be an issue, i've never had any issues and by far best ones I have tried. I think they have a decent warranty pretty sure they would have replaced them....
  18. I love these braid scissors, best I have used and I think they are on sale Cuda scissor amazon or walmart for 3.84 - https://www.amazon.com/Cuda-Titanium-Bonded-Micro-Scissors/dp/B00K5VF8H4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.mgIznDWgFDxPhyz1l-V_Q-gkKgcnfc4weZmsO8AlqhH1HCyVu0QjHubfcx-Q7SblE6NG98UtLzqBSffbwgDzZvu0mNBX_ZVEZN6gPALlnwmYlXOG85X6knfi9L_LSzWBdRdVRL9Z6LY922Z30gs5_oRMGL9XguutvOE9Ua1vAK5OPlxyhH-ytq0_IcMI676DnxIDR3sk0Bkly3IjmfdifQ.upu4K33yNXDVYAORWxfVyZEkwbWqWI25fC51r8qhCFw&dib_tag=se&keywords=Cuda+scissors&qid=1768083232&sr=8-1
  19. Discount not showing up for me, regular prices....kind of glad not to be tempted...lol

My wife started a Christmas lure tree several years ago. I have a lot of old lures from my dad that I had kept and she thought it would be neat to do and I think its really neat. When I see the lures I think about which ones would I want to use today and I think I am going to pull some devils horse lures off and give through them some. They are all wooden and I would like to swap the hooks but not keen on unscrewing them, was thinking of cutting the old and adding split rings any one have any suggestions..included a couple of pitcures...
  22. FISHUSA is having a sale on some shimano items...https://www.fishusa.com/sales
  23. Yeah I purposefully do not go on their site since I just buy more stuff, lol....
  24. Understand, I was unable to get out today, three boats were already out and I didn't realize with the 2 days of really cold weather that we recently had 2/3 of the lake had ice on it. Going to stay warm for the next week or so and will get out next week. I think I am going to try besides the jerkbait, a ned rig, football jig and small swimbait. I have thrown the swimbait some with no takers but think with all the bait in the lake thats probably not a bad thing to throw.
  25. Ah, bummer I know at the time they also had them on the Abu Garcia website, hate when Amazon does that....
