Expride Rod Tip Failure Help
I don't know how it is with Shimano, but i've had the same thing happen with a 4pc rod from Megabass, and they didn't allow me to purchase just the tip, which sucks. My love toward the company was lowered by 15% that day😭

How important do you find sensitivity in your rod for bottom contact baits etc.
I would take balance over sensitivity, but its important.

Which Tatula SV Braking System is Best at Mitigating Bird’s Nests?
The best spool that i have tried that is ultra against birds nests is the original SS SV spool. It has a tall inductor that overbrakes, but messing up line on that thing is close to impossible.

How Do You Break All Those Rods?
I broke my first rod (the tip) while un-hooking a shad during the american shad run we had in Spring. The first rod i break in about 15 years. Still haven't recovered because i really liked the d**n rod, and warranty ain't covering it.

70, 150, or 200 Reel
If you haven't tried the Zillion, forget about every other reel, and get the JDM version through amazon jp for $200.

Do you use your index finger to feel the line when fishing bottom contact baits?
But you feel the bites pretty easily without using your finger.

Not seeing the point. If you use mono and a shakespeare glass rod from Walmart for $30, it will most likely help, but i am not seeing this being helpful with a quality rod. Not to mention that i only use braid to fluro leader, so feeling the bottom isn't taking much.

Current thinking on BFS reels please?
Alphas air was $150 on plat for months. That would've been the best of the best for the money, but it looks like the sale finally ended.
-
Is the Zillion and the Alphas the best bang per buck reels we've ever seen in fishing?
It isn't, the zillion is still cheaper through amazon japan. There is also the fact that the bantam is a tank that weights half a ton, so not especially great for many applications and the scorpion dc, which i had this summer, is a very bleh reel (in my opinion that is). Literally sold it within 5-7 days of use because it felt very low end.

I demand a 200-300 size Shimano Bantam
That's the thing, just like the Tatula 300, they're just too bottom of the barrel to me. I want something higher end, and the Bantam seems perfect for a 300 size. I have had the calcut300 a few years back. Good reel, but much prefered my Z2020 for anything heavy, so i sold it. Looking for something high end and low profile.

Do you own the new Zillion?
Not sure. The JDM version is so much cheaper that i honestly don't pay attention to the USDM one.
-
Do you own the new Zillion?
Palms much better. Its similar to the bantam and 2020 met if you tried these two.

Do you own the new Zillion?
Maybe the inductor is getting stuck sometimes?

To see if anybody else would be interested in a beefed up bantam. And its not about being able to catch or not. When you have a choice between an ultra smooth reel, and another that is just "fine", the choice is simple.

Rod warranty
Bought a 4pc rod from megabass. Broke the tip, contacted megabass, they have the tip which is only 6000yen, but they refuse to sell it to me. How incredibly annoying. And the guy at the customer service wanted to sell it to be, but his superior came by when the tip was being packed, and declined my shipment. Ever since this happened, i am thinking twice before buying megabass, even tho they're my fav brand for rods.

Do you own the new Zillion?
Everyone keeps talking about this reel since they came out in 2021. Do you own any of the variants?

Meh, the Tranx is just like the Scorpion, they don't have this glassy feel the Bantam has.

Shimano's DC patent is expiring very soon. Flood gates on Daiwa DC reels are about to open.
If you believe that following the used market is not accurate, you have never properly followed it. I cannot think of a single popular reel from shimano or daiwa that isn't or wasn't heavily flooded on the used market at some time. Can you? Disagree. Daiwa is the one that innovates the most between the two, and that since the 90s. You can't say that a simple DC system is not worth it for them when they've just released a significantly more sophisticated electronic braking system that syncs to your phone. If they created the IMZ, Daiwa has no limits when it comes to new creations because the IMZ and its price are ridiculous.

Its pretty simple, i watch a bunch of japanese videos on youtube, and literally all reels that sell well, are always in a bunch of videos. IMZ ain't one of those reels. Secondly, i follow the used market quite a lot, and the IMZ is so rare that they might as well not exist. So unless i have proof directly from Daiwa, there is zero chance that this reel sold well.

I demand a 200-300 size Shimano Bantam
Eh i ain't getting it. If after all this time it hasn't happened, it won't happen. They probably don't want to do it because if they were to release one in 200 size, nobody would even consider the antares md.
-
I demand a 200-300 size Shimano Bantam
Why don't we have one? I know they've just announced the Scorpion MD, but that's a Scorpion, not a fan. The current Bantam is solid, compact and smooth. A 200, 250 or a 300 size Bantam frame could be an amazing swimbait reel, but we don't have one for some reason. If they were to make one, its the only reel i see competing with my Z2020.

Difference between Daiwa SV boost and mag z boost?
SV for control. Z for distance. Never tried Z Boost, tho.

They made the IMZ, a halo product nobody bought. So yes, an investment on something much simpler that is the DC module, would be an easy investment for a massive company that is Daiwa. Btw do we know when the daiwa patent on mag brakes is expiring?

The competition alone in the DC space would bring nothing but a big positive. Shimano's IDC-5 has been around for way too long.

JDM 20 Metanium
You're in the US, they barely care about any kind of fees when you've even surpassed $800usd. In Canada, they charge you customs for a $20 lure..........
