  1. It’s my first full year with graphs of any kind so I’m still learning on how to ID fish. I normally can get the picture of what’s happening when there a few fish on the screen but sometimes theres fish everywhere and I start to get confused, I’m not sure if it’s crappie, perch, Cisco, northerns, or bass. Some times there’s fish suspended at a certain depth literally across the whole lake or theres schools that are 20-40ft tall vertically. I can get a little idea with the size of the fish but a 14” crappie and a small bass look identical to me. Are there any videos online that you recommend for learning how to ID fish on 2d/downscan?
  2. Cool observations! I wonder if the largemouth were trying to make their time in the shallow water as short as they could to avoid aerial predators and this is why they would only attack perpendicular to shore. Maybe the spots felt safe in numbers so they would not mind being up there as much. Watching fish react in shallow water is some of the most fun fishing in my opinion. I snuck up on a group of small largemouth with my kayak last year and got to throw different lures at them for a while and watch their reactions. This is part of the reason why now I mainly pitch with heavier (1/2oz-1oz) weights even when I don’t need to punch through cover. They would only hit my d-bomb if it was falling very fast so they didn’t get a good look at it. Also once it was on the bottom they wouldn’t touch it. Sight fishing bass not on beds is also some of my favorite fishing especially for smallmouth.
  3. And if it isn’t a fish get ready to dodge a 2oz bullet coming right at you!
  4. The most impressive thing about your catches is the mix of size and quantity. I might be able to go out and catch 29 but my best 5 would probably go for 5lbs. I normally commit to chasing larger fish but I then I sacrifice numbers. You are able to do both every day! Awesome fish!
  5. Looked again and it seem like the p5 deal isnt up anymore. Missed my chance I guess.
  6. To my understanding Megabass built this rod for Carolina rig/heavy football jig dragging applications. Seems like some people like it for this kind of stuff but it also seems like its a sleeper 6” Magdraft rod, and big moving bait rod. I’ve heard people rave about it for Magdrafts and say they prefer it over the Mark-56 for the 6”. If you own this rod I’m curious what you use it for? If I was to get this one I’d primarily use it for 3/4oz preacher jigs, big swim jigs and other single hooked moving baits in open water to medium cover (milfoil & coontail). I could also see myself using it for magdrafts or 6” line throughs. Am I right in thinking that it would work well for these? Seems like it has a good mix between power action, being able to drive a jig hook in a long range but also load deep enough to keep fish pinned nicely. I’d also want to throw big worms and football jigs on it. I plan on using 40-50lb braid to leader. My second question is about the sensitivity. I know Tackle Tour said that the sensitivity wasn’t awesome and wasn’t in NRX territory but NRX’s are $150 more. How does it compare to other rods in and around its price range? What about the GLX, or Poison Adrena? Thanks! Edit: Looks like I can’t get the used BMG that I was planning on anymore. I’m not going to buy a new one at full price.
  7. I looked now and it says 6 in quantity. I wonder why they’d have this many of these used.
  8. I’m very seriously considering the P5 rod offer right now. Two rods I’ve considered separately for 50% off.
  9. What size g finesse are you using for 7-10in worms?
  10. @HawkeyeSmallie have you been out to this place again? How’d it go?
  11. I thought @Swamp Girl might like this bluegill shaped bass. Only 18” but went for 4.62lbs.
  12. That could definitely be my problem. When I picture fishing a buzzbait fast I picture reeling it fast not making less cast and fishing them slower but moving the boat quickly. Thanks for pointing that out.
  13. I’ll pick one up when there’s lots of water to cover and it’s getting dark quick. I’ll try to burn as much bank as I can and find a couple willing to eat before I go in. The MN state record was caught on one so I always have that in the back of my mind.
  14. I swim a tube back from the cover I flip it but not much other than that.
  15. Ive never been a big buzzbait guy just because I never get good casting distance with them. Normally with topwater I try to get the most casting distance possible but I’m sure they are great in the right situations.
  16. How does the magic worm compare to the Roboworm 6” fat? awesome man! That’s something ive never put much time into but know I should. What’s your main ribbon tail? Wow, you gotta stop making the rest of us Minnesotans look bad 😂
  17. Has anyone used the new gen PA 7’4 H/Regular? Is the PA regular similar to a dobyns Fast? I have no need for another jig/swim jig rod but there’s a good chance this will be my next rod purchase… The 7’6 H/F is definitely a possibility too.
  18. What are the baits that have stood out in your fishing so far this year in terms of numbers and size? Anything new that’s working well? Anything old that just isn’t doing it so far this year?
  19. I hear a lot about the 7’6 MH and the 7’7 H but ive never heard much about the 7’6 H. I got to hold this model at a local store and it was pretty sweet but it’s an Expride so they all are. It’s a fast action so I’d assume it’s less versatile and worse for moving baits than the 7’7 and better suited for t-rigs and jigs in cover. I wonder if the 7’6 will be slightly more sensitive? Does anyone own this model? What do you like it for? If you have any other exprides how does it compare? Thanks!
  20. I remember seeing the mepps ads asking for squirrel tails in outdoor magazines.
  21. I rarely pick up a treble hooked topwater anymore and jerkbaits catch a lot more pike than bass for me. I used to boat a lot more nice sized fish on neds but I couldn’t tell you that last fish over 3lbs I've landed on one.
  22. Awesome! Crappie is what I had in mind. What material did you end up using?
  23. You forgot: Bluegill Male bluegill Female bluegill Pumpkinseed Crappie Sunfish Perch
  24. Did you ever have any luck tying these jigs? Thanks!
  25. I didn’t fish it much yesterday. I pike robbed it from me within the first 5 minutes of using it and I didn’t rig another up. I’ll give it another shot next time I’m out.
