  1. Anytime I am taking a newb fishing, I always approach it as I am taking THEM fishing, not myself. Then I can go into the day with the mindset that it is not for me and it doesn't matter if I get my line wet. I used to be the opposite and would get frustrated when I couldn't fish when someone new to fishing came along. Approach it as their day, not yours. You are there for support and wisdom.
  2. You definitely get better distance with this technique when standing in a boat, but you can get closer and be stealthier in a yak, so it doesn't make much difference.
  3. Don't need to punch in my neck of the woods, but I flip and pitch a ton from seated in my Yak. 🤷‍♂️
  4. Welcome! Night crawlers are cheap.
  5. My weirdest one is I caught a steelhead on a 1/2oz spinnerbait. That was a huge surprise.
  6. black/blue fleck and green pumpkin all rolled into one is about all I fish. Many different names for the combo from the different manufacturers. money, tramp stamp, superbug...all the same color
  7. I live in the PNW. I am lucky if I am fishing and it is not raining.
  8. Well my local fun hole is not really big, but holds very big fish. The fish and game shocked the lake to do a survey of the fish. The largest LM they recorded was 12.3 pounds. Far bigger than my biggest fish in that small lake sized pond.
  9. This weekend I had LM hitting literally anything I threw at them. Used the opportunity to use baits I have never grabbed before. Sure enough they ate everything. Crazy colors, fast, slow, topwater. It was magical and illogical all at the same time.
  10. I could care less if the public knows how big of a fish I caught. Bragging rights with family and BR is good enough for me.
  11. Every February for me
  12. I really like PLine flouroclear on spinning rods. Low memory and strong. 4x to 8x for me on UL.
  13. Reaction Innovations smallie beaver and Riot Baits little fuzzy beaver is all I use and I jig fish the majority of the time. black/blue fleck money/tramp stamp kush/sprayed grass
  14. x3...er...4?
  15. I am weird and actually prefer pitching with a shorter rod with a shorter handle. I currently use a 7'1" SC with a 9" grip. I am much more accurate and the shortened handle length does not get caught up as easily in my sleeves.
  16. How would your lighter rod do throwing 1/2oz spinnerbaits, small frogs, stupid tubes, smaller cranks, 1/2oz jigs?
  17. Kinda sounds like the bigger rod is more universal
  18. Now I just have to decide between the two models we're talking about.
  19. best price i can find. this place legit? https://fishingshop.kiwi/Legit-Design-Wild-Side-Wsc611mh5/
  20. Have you every handled the 6'11" MHMF model?
  21. Anyone have any experience with the zodias travel rod? Looks like it breaks down to 19" https://www.fishusa.com/Shimano-Zodias-Casting-Pack-Rod/
  22. That's a choice looking little package. I've never heard of such a thing.
  23. What's the tube length end up being on that?
