  1. I switch gears this time of year and fly fish for trout. They are always hungry.
  2. 100% correct statement Curious why 6.3 for jerkbaits?
  3. 6th sense produces well for me
  4. 38 total including bass rods, salmon and stealhead, trout, fly fishing, trolling, and saltwater.
  5. I have my first one that I bought with my own money around the age of 8 y.o. circa 1990ish. It is an abu garcia 521 xlt plus with the flipping switch.
  6. Green Pumpkin has never produced for me. Ever. Black/Blue produces every outing.
  7. @HawkeyeSmallie There has only been 1 version of each of those reels, and they are both in the current lineup. Curado 70 mgl weighs 6.9oz and has 12lb drag Curado 150 mgl weighs 6.5oz and has 13lb drag And no, you do not feel the weight difference.
  8. I have a Curado 71 MGL on my jerkbait rod, and I do absolutely love it. But after buying the new 151 MGL, I see no reason to ever buy the 70 size again. It is that good. It is really not that much bigger in hand, it casts 10x better than the 70 (the 70 casts amazing btw), and also allows you the option to throw other baits or even move it to another rod in the future for different techniques if you so choose. I am not a die hard Shimano fanboy. I have tried most every manufacturer. IMHO, the Curado 150 MGL is one of the best baitcasting reels ever made period.
  9. Curado MGL 150 /end thread.
  10. I know you said JDM, but hard to beat the Curado MGL 70
  11. Soft Plastics Yum Dinger black/blue 5" Riot Baits Little Fuzzy Beaver money Reaction Innovations Smallie Beaver tramp stamp 3 to 3.5" Stupid Tube black/blue - pick your brand Hard Baits Dobyns Beast 1/2 oz spinnerbait shimmer shad Riot Baits Lil Creeper football jig 1/2 oz blue steel Can't think of 4 more baits that are a "must have", but I have an insane amount more just for variety and not to get bored. I could fish the rest of my life in my area of the world with what is listed above and always catch bass.
  12. Lower ratio showing $80. The 6.8 is $50.
  13. Did they come in a package? Brand?
  14. I also use a sling pack on the yak. I exclusively sit as my yak is not very stable. Sling pack stays on my chest, and holds two 3600 boxes which I keep hard baits, jigs, terminal tackle, etc. There is a front pocket on my sling that perfectly holds about a dozen soft plastics in their original packaging. I literally never run out of anything I need. It just means I have to restock at home of the items I have used/lost on my outing.

I throw red and pink worms a lot, but when I am fishing for steelhead.
  16. My last resort when fishing is slow is a weightless Riot Baits little fuzzy beaver on a 3/0 EGW casting with a spin rod around structure and grass pockets. It is super slow fishing, with a super slow fall rate, but alas it never fails I can pick up 1 or 3 fish using this setup. It can be very boring though.
  17. Some sort of siwash style hook intended for a trailer on something like a spinnerbait?
  18. What is the house brand?
  19. I prefer Poor Boy's 3" and Secret Lures Stupid Tube plastics, and use exclusively Bite me Tackle Vertical Eye jig heads usually in 1/8 oz and sometimes 1/4 oz if there is current. Also the V&M Smallie tube heads are really nice, but super wide gap does not allow weedless rigging too well even though they claim it excels at that.
  20. If I'm honest...shopping new gear. I spend more time shopping cool lures/rods/reels than I do fishing lol!
  21. My unbiased opinion is the best reel Shimano has going of any baitcaster in the current lineup is the Curado 150/151 MGL.
  22. $200 is my price point for budget vs expensive for both rods and reels.
  23. 6'8" jerkbait rod is what I have my 71 curado in that speed on
