  1. I would suggest looking at Edge rods. If you can catch them on sale you can save a lot. I think they just had a 50% off sale.
  2. If you’re going for Arowana. I would think you might want to check out a stout rod. Arowana from what I’ve heard are a pretty aggressive fish. Like 2-3 foot long and hit hard and fast.
  3. If Castaic is within your drive. You might want to check out Pyramid lake. Not that far up the freeway from Castaic.
  4. If I can make a suggestion. You might want to try a black paint pen or black nail polish. Though with the nail polish. You might get questions from your girl. Be prepared.
  5. I don’t know if it’s been asked before. If so y’all can redirect me to the right place and mods can delete this. What I am wondering has anyone seen or done a definitive analysis on what color lines work or don’t work? In terms of what fish can see or don’t see.
  6. When I was fishing rivers in Washington state. A couple times I had bad snags. The first time it popped loose. The rig came back hit me square in the chest. Another time fishing the Cowlitz by the dam. I snagged. It popped loose. It came back hit me in the face. Luckily I was wearing glasses. I started using low lb leader after that.
  7. I am trying to add pics of the guides. Hopefully it works.
  8. As far as if the rod has micro guides. I am pretty new to understanding micro guides. I think the guides are micro. They are short in height, most of the guides are the same diameter and height. I am used to leaders. My fishing has been Washington state steelhead and salmon. The setup there is 5-7’ leader with corkies and yarn as the bait/ lure. The setup is kept in a pip box. Makes for easy swap outs if line breaks.
  9. I’m thinking this might have been asked a few times. To give some info on setup. I have a Kistler Argon 7’ MH and Diawa bait caster reel. I love the feel of the setup. It balances right at the hook keeper. I’m going to be bank fishing Tenn rivers mostly. Maybe some lakes. I’m thinking 30 maybe 40lb 832 main line. Texas rig 4-5”. I’m wondering about using leader or straight main line? If I go leader which would be the go to leader? What lb test? What knot to use or should I use clips?
  10. Funny you mention crawdads When I was young visiting family in Washington state. We would catch crawdads off the dock. It was fun. We used a string and bubble gum. We filled a 5 gallon bucket.
  11. Yall. Let us not feed into the rumors. We will know more in time. Let’s give our best to the friends, families, those involved in the accidents.
  12. I just got a Tatula TW 100 XHL. Should I oil it before using? Is there anything I should do to it before using it? It’s my first bait casting reel.
  13. I just got an Argon rod from Kistler. If you sign up for their emails. You get % off. I think it is something like 15% off. As for the Helium. Yall might want to check the Kistler website. I think they have them on sale. Plus the % off.
  14. I went with Tatula TW 100 left hand. I think it is a decent price and good reel. Thanks for all yall help. Much appreciated.
  15. I’m thinking of a 4-5” senko watermelon. I am thinking 30-40 lb 832 probably hi viz. cause I am old and have a time picking up what the line is doing.
  16. I looked at some JDM reels. At least price wise. I could not find reel specs. Can anyone tell me or point me to specs on a Tatula TW 100? Like what braking system? Line capacity? Gear ratio? Thanks for any help you can provide.
  17. Ok. Stupid question of the decade. bare with me as I have not had my coffee yet. All my fishing has been done with spinning rigs. I get with casting rod setups. The rod is turned and reel sits on top. Being Right handed. The rod is in my right hand. The reel handle is on the left. Does that mean I need to get a left hand reel? “ let the comments begin “
  18. I’m looking a getting a Diawa Tatula CT. I was looking at Diawa website last night. Did I read right, the CR has 2 braking systems? A magnetic and another braking system. I don’t know if centrifugal or what. Maybe I misread it, wishful thinking. I have seen some talking about swapping the spools. Using a SV spool. What exactly does that do or don’t do? Lastly. I saw there’s a Tatula CT R type. How does that differ from the non R type CT? Is it better, worse, eh, or marketing between the two reels? Thanks in advance
  19. I wanna thank everyone for their comments and recommendations on my posts. Pardon all the questions, second guessing, overthinking I finally pulled the trigger. I ordered a Kistler Argon MH fast. They have a good deal on them now. Plus they give another 15% off if you sign up for their emails. Now to get a reel. Diawa Tatula CT. It seems like a good reel. From what I’ve seen so far. Plus it is good price point.
  20. I’m looking at a couple of casting rods. A Dobyns KD713C or Cashion Element EW7 MHF. I found the Dobyns on sale. Both rods are like 5 dollars difference in price. I’m looking to use the rod with a unweighted/ weighted Texas rig. Using a 4-5” senko. I’ll be bank fishing mainly rivers maybe some lakes. Any recommendations on which rod might be better fit for the mentioned use?
  21. My thinking. Who cares what someone else thinks or says. Did they pay for your rig? If you want to spend a little or a lot more money to get what you want. Go for it. You work for it. Spend it how you see fit. Enjoy the new rig. Well.. enjoy it when it warms up. lol.
  22. I subscribe to the old term.. KISS. Keep it simple stoop Many times the old ways are the best ways. Less things to go wrong. As for if reels will reach a point. I think they will get to a point. That the changes will be minute. If any real change mechanically. Then it’s up to the marketing department to sell the “ new and improved “ They will probably come up with a new marketing phrase. The Grand Poohbah braking system is a totally new concept. That will revolutionize the fishing industry. When in actuality it is the same old with a new spin on the name. Are we at that point yet? I don’t know. There may yet be new materials to use. But is it going to make it all that much better?
  23. If I can chime in. You’re looking for Torx bits. If you live near a Harbor Freight. They have bit sets with the driver for under 10. That should get you by.
  24. Isn’t TFO owned/ operated by Loomis himself? I thought Shimano bought Loomis company awhile ago. I’d expect TFO to have Loomis influence.
  25. I don’t know if you would be interested. Mega bass Orochi is on sale at ALF. It’s under the Cyber Monday tab. Like 100 bucks off. Might be worth a look if there’s a rod for you there.
