  1. I was fishing on a Tuna boat many years ago, dogfish came in by the Acre... destroying our Baits and leaders..I was ticked, and grabbed one by the back, he swung that spine back and jammed me badly with that big spine right in my forearm (that's a pretty big spine-I know better, lost my mind)..I was dragging that arm in the Saltwater for 5 hours. It got better, but hurt like hell.
  2. I never got a chance, ribs/work,St Patties with the Fam, and weather didn't cooperate. Hopefully have a chance to go tomorrow, but schedule is pretty full... I'll have to get really lucky to even think about it. Pretty sure I can cast ok now, I can get out of my truck without issues. Looks like Chuckie dropped his draws...
  3. Some of my best ever fishing days were with White Spinnerbaits, dual Colorado silver blades.
  4. I haven't used it yet, but that Procyon AL is pretty smooth... It cost me barely above 100(was watching it), so it was a deal I couldn't refuse....it was about 169 or so when it came out, with many great reviews and In field videos. I'm guessing I'll be happy with it, but I think I will like the Stradic FM better... we'll see, I don't care, I own them both, and have no allegiance to either.
  5. My favorite bass was caught when I was about 10- 11, We rented a house for a week, and I was catching 1-2 lb bass from the property dock...they had a John Boat, but Mum wouldn't let me use it... Until she did.... I took off, and started Trolling (Trolling was ROWING) a live nightcrawler (always used big nightcrawlers back then-Pretty much TR)...I had what I believe was a Zebco 202... My rod bent pretty badly while I was "trolling"...I fought that fish and won(pretty much the middle of the lake)... I estimate 3.5-4 lbs, it was pretty big...and it had a chunk taken out of it's back, like a turtle bite. Great Memory.
  6. Thanks, Between the weather and my ribs(I really jacked them up a couple weeks ago) I wasn't even thinking about it..but I think I can cast, and I have NEW GEAR, which is really pushing me. Totally Bank. I'll Post, I actually expect to post, even if it's a Dink. 😆
  7. These reels are supposedly the same weight according to specs, I wanted Aluminum frames after dealing with the CI4+ Flimsiness...I hated that reel IMMEDIATELY after having big/tough reels that never flexed enough for me to feel it(Why I didn't do Vanford). The 2000D is not as smooth as the Stradic FM, this was apparent IMMEDIATELY, but it's still pretty darn smooth, like real smooth. I'm certain I will love them both for many years, and I won't know which one I like better until I get them in the field and beat the **** out of them. Aluminum...TYVM.
  8. We'll see, my ribs are pretty bad, but there's open water, with 2 new rigs and gear BEGGING for some action 😂 **** it is getting difficult every time I drive by. Rods are going in my truck tomorrow. I can usually get at least one... we'll see 😆
  9. Stradic FM 2500, and Procyon 2000D. Both Spinning reels, to go with Perigee2 M-MH, and Fenwick Elite MH...Both 7' 2 piece. The Stradic FM 2500 is MUCH Smoother than the Diawa Procyon 2000D. Any day now I'll test them OTW.
  10. Locals are losing Ice (At least parts)quickly here these days, I'll be surprised if it takes me to the 21st.. .. I haven't gone yet due to bad ribs, but my box is almost put back together after Monkey Business, and I'm hoping within a couple of days. Can't catch if you don't go. I'm assuming I'll be behind others around here that don't work, that doesn't mean they are going to catch them. I will.
  11. Yeah, don't think he'll do that. Thanks!
  12. My Goal is to better than last year, which should be easy. I saw fish all over the place where we went, yet it was a poor day as far as fishing went. I already told my BIL that we have to go back...after catching like 5 dinks.. He thankfully agreed Good Fish there IMO, we just didn't catch them that day.
  13. Fishing Jigs .I tried years ago with 3/8-1/2 and big trailers... and didn't do well. I've given myself a better chance with lighter jigs, and by reading this forum on the 3/8- 1/2 I already have. I'm a slow fishing guy, Jig fishing should be natural, but it isn't for some reason. I am going to concentrate on Jigs this year, I now have 1/4-1/2oz now ,and. I have more sensitive rods, I actually bought small craws instead of the 4-5" I already had. We'll see if smaller helps, I can't see why it'll hurt, I don't catch much on them now.
  14. Catch more fish in an area I don't know. I'm looking at Norway Me. Area, canoe access without BS SKI/Big boats..... Most of the small ponds up there are LL Access only....I might have to start asking permission.
  15. I fished Chunk Mackerel at night for stripers and bluefish, I don't believe I have ever tried my bottom baits at night for LM/SMB. I'LL remember that, but I haven't fished at night in FW for awhile, and I don't suspect I will anytime soon(an old friend liked that)...maybe up the street at Sabbathia sometime this year. Thanks for the info.
  16. I've never had the "Luck" to see a game warden, I've heard of others that had their gear confiscated. I always have a License, AAMOF, the last one I got didn't give me the option to print it, so I've fought to get that option. I have it on my phone, but I want paper in my pretty red enclosure if possible.
  17. Norway Me, I mentioned it in another thread- I may have missed with this one sorry. Sorry, I'm limited to 9 posts per day it seems, so when you folks asked me yesterday, I wasn't allowed to answer you. Seriously.
  18. Yeah, looks good, but it's my BIL Canoe, so nothing permanent. I think this will be a cushion thing...he already has some "Chairs", but they have straps, so I don't really like them much(pretty sure we tried them once...just like the trolling motor..nah). I think a reasonably fat cushion that straps to the fiberglass seat will be 100% better. Nothing good for a 6hr canoe at my age. O well, figured I'd ask the most experienced. Thanks
  19. Luckily we haven't had a lot of snow down here in SE MA, but it has been really cold(40's this week, yahoooo), so Ice out may take awhile... I'm still hoping for 1st fish March 21st, but that means I will have to pay attention, although I have a lake right down the street (not a big fan, have caught fish there though). I guess we'll see.
  20. Hey Swamp Girl. I also fish smaller ponds, My days of fighting with boats and such have been gone for many years, I fish in a canoe, so I've been there done that... Not again. My BIL Lives in Norway Me, so we've fished the right side/Little area of Norway Lake(Not A fan, almost 5' everywhere-never went into the BIG LAKE), and North Pond just up the road from that(in the back, it's a bunch of fingers, & there's fish there, Never fished the main body of water). I've studied that area, the small ponds in the area have zero access because of Private Property, except little Norway up the St(that's the one I really wanted to fish before I went up there), and that access is limited and treacherous. Thompson Lake is too big, even though they say it has big fish. Last September was the 1st time up there, It's going to take a few to figure out where to go. Looks like it's gonna be a few before we can get out up here, my stuff down here in MA. is still Iced, a handful of days at 40+will help...I live near Lake Sabbathia in Taunton Ma.and that's still locked except for a few spots that have springs. Biggest fish I ever caught out of there was 3lbs, on shiners fishing from shore 35 years ago, the guy I was with actually put tinfoil on a hook once as a lure... live bait was good! 😂
  21. Thanks Everyone, I was shutoff from posting after a massive 9 posts yesterday, including the introduction and a couple of Thank You's for answering me. I was then stopped from giving Reactions awhile later. Not sure what's up with this stuff, BOTS are pretty easy to figure out, I'm obviously not one of those.l, I actually gave info..... Hopefully 9 posts isn't the limit everyday. .A-Jay- I lived on Belmont St. In Charlestown for about 5 years as a kid(still have family down by the Constitution /Monument), I fondly remember the Carnivals(after the Bunker Hill Parade) down the neck near Schraffts as a kid, not sure if you remember that. I appreciate everyone's Welcome, Thank You All Very Much.
  22. Thanks padlin. Yes, I have seen that, I've been lurking for awhile now. Thanks Again
  23. Bought a few smaller spinnerbaits(like 1/4-3/8 single blade- savior some days), and small flukes, I usually fish bottom then top... Smallish swimbaits might work, I've never fished a small swimbait in the middle of the water column. I generally fish 5" Senkos, to 13" worms(5-7lb fish caught) over the years...but you'd better be ready, with those Biggins, or you will miss. My last 13" worm was destroyed catching a 5+, I need to source more, which I haven't done yet(It was a Black Curly Manns, not even sure if they are still around)dunno why, probably because I don't fish as much these days. Mann's had the paddle tail, it was Decades B4 others, and I still have some 9" Grape that just work better than new stuff....I bought them in 25 whatever weight pouch 40 years ago..I only have a few left in Ziploc bags unfortunately. I caught fish on the 9" last year, guess fish didn't get the memo. I've procured a few small spinners/baits, A handful of small/medium size swimbaits, some smaller craws, some smaller jigs(I have 3/8-1/2 oz currently ). When I bought my (E/Old)stuff, I was digging for nothing but HUGE Bass and Pike/Muskie. Now I just want to catch FISH! 😂
  24. I grew up on a Fenwick 6'6" 2 piece Fiberglass that was given to me when I was about 13(Zebco202 B4 that)..it already had years of use, but I caught some big fish on it...I finally remember pairing it with a Penn 450...which is REALLY HEAVY by today's standard..then used a Penn 4500SS to curb the weight some... This is where we lived back then..... I replaced all the guides by hand with 2 color thread and 2 wraps of slow epoxy on the wraps... I used a rotisserie to do this. The cork was never replaced, so I gave up, and bought a Medium 6'6" Ugly Stick(long handle), which BTW, still works fine today 40years later....but it's heavy(5.5 according to a new scale, figured it would be worse)..it was really the 14+oz of the 4500 Penn reel. We didn't have Small braid back then . I bought an Avid X 7' 2 piece M rod(Like $225-250) with a Stradic CI4+, and I hated it... I couldn't hit my spots or yank out fish like my heavy ass ancient US/Penn... Reel had too much flex in the stem. Loved it on the couch. I gave that SETUP to my BIL, who's never had a good rod in his life, he's a worm guy, he's going to be SHOCKED at what he feels . I bought 2 new rigs, Fenwick Elite 7' 2piece(need) MH S( sale- $97) with a Stradic 2500 FM, I never liked that CI4+, Felt flimsy, I'll give the OZ in weight for difference in strength. And a KastKing Perigee ii 2 piece, with M and MH Tips(I'll use M tip because of the Fenwick MH) with a Daiawa Procyon 2000D for $112. I need to be able to collapse rods for Travel, I don't have a boat to throw them on, and I've caught plenty of big girls on 2PC. I Also bought a soft case for my 3 rods/reels I'll use a towel between all the pieces when traveling....I broke that Avid X while tossing a golf bag in the bed of the truck, that US has been in at least probably 8 different vehicles, and is still fine...wish it was sensitive. Hoping to get started well soon! G
