A specific lure is rarely a panacea to catching bass. If that was the case everyone would be using it. The thought bass get use to specific lures and stop striking them imo another myth. What may be happing is bass susceptible to a specific lure get caught and no longer around to be caught again and again. Another factor is strike detection, most bottom lure strike are missed by the angler until they finally learn to detect those strikes. My advice is use lures you have difficult catching bass on when the bass are active and easy to catch in lieu of when your favorite lure isn’t working. Craw trailers are OK try to use trailers with less flapping claws, the old #11 frog type chunk works good and Yamamoto twin tail grubs. What line and reel are you using? Not fan of spinning rods because of the line twist issues for moving lures. You could add a swivel to structure and flutter spoons. C-rig would work OK. Tom

Fall to winter transition the bass going deeper the big bass are hunting high protein prey. Small bait fish are being targeted by school size bass, the larger bass usually look for larger fish 8” to 10” size and crawdads migrating to clay areas to burrow into. Structure spoons work good on bait balls that indicate the bait is under attach by predator fish. Jigs are my go to lure during late fall early winter big bass. I look for long major lake points with both rock and clay having steep sides. This time of year the presentation is a slower drag and shake retrieve working down hill about 45 degree angle that helps to slow the rate of fall. You want to work down about 8’ deeper then low pool depth. Tom

Late fall early winter transition usually means slowing down and using bottom contact lures like jigs, jigs and maybe T-rigged or C-rig soft plastics. I look for main lake long points with clay and rocks where crawdads migrate to. Very slowed down jerk bait trigger a few strikes. The dam area is the deeper slightly warmer water and a good place to try. Wind blown side is usually a better but uncomfortable area to fish. Tom

SoCal the MWD (Metropolitan Water District) runs and built our water storage system the Feather River Project that transfers NoCal water from lake Orville ( the head water storage) through the Delta to lake San Louis Ray and from there down the aqueduct to distribution for farm land irrigation ( about 75% ) ending in SoCal lakes Pyramid, Castiac and Silverwood. The Feather River system superseded the Owen’s River aqueduct now defunct. All other lakes in SoCal are rain water storage or water from All American Canal with the Colorado River. The Laser is a very fast hull and the old Merc V6 can be easily modified to produce over 200 hp. If the boat has hot foot and jack plate it’s a hot rod boat. Concerns would be the condition of the hull and carpets left outdoors in the weather. I believe Lasers are all fiber glass hulls no glassed over wood transom or stringers. Starting with my experience the deep diving plugs (crank baits) were; Bomber 200, 300, 400 and 500 the number indicate length and looked like a bomb with metal lip running backwards. Probably caught more bass the original Bombers then any other crank baits. Mud Bug very similar to Bomber with crawdad eyes added. Bomber A series followed 6A and 7A, medium divers. Bagley balsa lures lures the B series were outstanding with the DB3 Dredge diving to 25’ (sinking lure) Norman were good deep divers DD14 and DD22, number are the depth that ran. Poe Cedar 300 series, deep diver. The above is I needed for decades. Tom
