All spring water is 50 to 60 degrees and warmer then winter cold water. The cold water is very high in dissolved oxygen (DO) and readily mixes with warmer spring water. Hot spring water is possible but not common. You will see heavy fog around a hot spring in the winter and light mist fog with normal spring water in the in the cold water period. Tom

Fighting big fish in general it’s extremely important to keep the fish in front of you. This means following the fish to keep straight out in front of you not letting the fish get an angle. Bass are not that strong or fast but you still loose control if big bass gets an angle on you. Tom

Finesse jig started out as a Puff Ball, then lion collar, now fine cut skirts and evolving. The first finesse jig I used was Skinny Bear followed by Puff Ball, still use the Lefty’s Puff Ball for deep slow shaking jig presentation with a split tail worm trailer it just works! Tom

The treble hooks are size 10 and light wire, weakness with the Karashi. The package says the weight is 3/16 oz but with hooks weighs close to 1/4 oz. Wouldn’t fish a Karashi around toothy fish like Pike. Tom

Just look for “ fine cut” tabs, several suppliers offer them. The frog hair silicone tabs are very fine cut. Tom

In disagree the Ark limited Ed BSF reel is difficult to keep adjusted, it has 3 adjustment functions and when set it stays set for your lures it’s well worth $150. Keep in mind BSF rods have more micro guides then standard rods and not sure how they accommodate braid with a leader? The Falcon Cara BSF is ML and can cast Megabass Karashi with ease. Lighter more air resistant lures the Phenix 7’1” BFS excels. Tom

The transducer cable is a shielded jacket wire to prevent interference. The key using quick ties is don’t over tighten just snug up. Leave enough slack so the motor can turn 180 degrees and doesn’t get pinched in the scissor mount. Black is UV resistant, 8” is about right. Tom

By open face you are asking about spinning reels in today terms. Spinning reels twist line period and line diameter is limited using monofilament or fluorocarbon lines. Sizes 2500 and 3000 are generally the same size with 3000 having deeper spool. To resolve the line twist suggest super braid very diameter to strength ratio. The 2500 & 3000 are common bass reels with about .010 dia line max with mono lines. Size 4000 reel you can up to ..013 diameter line. Flipping with a spinning reel you/will need braid for strength and a Medium Heavy spinning rod. Look at Tackle Waterhouse, they have a wide variety of both rods, reels and line to choose from. Tom

Selling my boat and becoming backseater changed how I bass fish. No longer have all my tackle and thousands of lures to choose from. Jig and worm rod, Medium fast casting rod for general use and now 3 BSF combo’s. Lures include a few hair jigs and pork rind bottle, Spoons, crank baits and top water lures, assortment of soft plastics with hooks and weights and about 8 BSF lures between 1/8- 1/4 hard baits. Enjoying catching bass on the BSF tackle. Tom
