Lot of myths in this thread. FC stretches the same as mono and has less abrasion resistance than both Maxima and Big Game mono. Line doesn’t transmit vibration under water you feel line movements, not vibrations. Buy if you believe that FC has superior qualities the confidence can’t be denied. Tom

The problem with giving the giant bass to a local tackle shop is few are still open. Marlin are very large and perfect for a fish restaurant. I will put a note on the giant bass mount where to take when that time comes. Now the mounts live in the garage where only my wife and see them, one of us enjoy them. I caught the 12-1/4 lb Northern LMB in 1971 at lake Casitas and the 18.6 lb Florida LMB with a similar ( same) jig at the same location in 1981. Good memories for me. This mount represents my 5 giant bass with 19.3 lb top bass caught in 1993 at lake Castiac, similar jig. The 37 lb Musky I caught with my wife in the boat using 1/4 oz black hair jig. The musky didn’t make it due to too much handling during father in laws birthday party when we showed off the musky. Good memory but old skin mount. The 10 lb Rainbow trout is a skin mount caught back in 1960. The mounts served their purpose keeping memories alive. Tom

Garmin bought Navonics in 2017, not sure if Garmin does on the water updates that Navonics did? Or if you can down load updates? Your maps should have detailed 1’ elevations. Tom

If the balance point is the center of the reel seat the reel weight isn’t a factor. Giving custom rod builder the reel model, lures you use and any other info helps to locate the 1st guide etc. low profile vs round reel for example is always a good idea. Tom

I had a dream last night that my fish mounts ended up in the dumpster! My Rainbow trout 10 lb 2 oz Rainbow trout is a old skin mount of little value to anyone. The 12 lb 3 oz Northern Bass skin mount is right thier with Trout. The 37 lb Musky skin mount could join the above in the dumpster. My Giant bass mount is a replica of my 18.6 lb FLMB and represents the 19.3 lb and 3 each 17.4. 17.4 and 17.6 FLMB. This mount shouldn’t end up in the dumpster after I am gone. It will cost creating and shipping to anyone interested. Hate the thought of this mount ending up in a dumpster. Tom PS send your email for photo if interested.

Just can’t see using a small bass reel to cast Big Game Wood Choppers used in the Amazon region. Tom

Use smaller diameter increases line capacity but using 20+ lb mono/FC reduces line capacity after marking modest 90’ cast hold the spooled line is out. With very low line the IPT is reduced about 50%, difficult controlling strong fish with 1/2 the line gone. The larger size 300 reels are stronger imo. Enjoy your trip! Tom

Have ever watch how a double blade spinnerbait runs through the water on the retrieve? The blade on a clevis wire can only rotate flooded back, can’t spin forward. The result is the spinner bait head and trailer is hanging down about 45 degrees from the upper wire inline with line pull. All you see when a spinnerbait is displayed is the head and trailer shown parallel to the surface with the wire arm and blades pointed up 45 degrees. In the displayed position the forward blade on the clevis can’t rotate. Tom

Suggest increasing line capacity and use the Tranx 300 size. Will do double duty for salt water use. Daiwa Coastal 200 SV TW works. Tom

Alex you are the senior citizen of BR inspirational and still going strong👍. I am a few years behind you at 82 now, no boat to keep peace with my wife and haven’t lost the passion to bass fish. I wait for an invite or hire guide to get out on the water now. BFS has become my new bass fishing technique and enjoy it. Tom

Rods cast lures reels hold line. The new generation BFS reels on a MF rod should be able to cast 1/8-3/32 oz total weight lure well over 75’. ML casting rod will increase casting distance but getting average size bass out of pads would difficult. Tom

The only reason I will occasionally use FC line is less coefficient of drag going though water ( less bow), heavier specific gravity then water (it sinks slowly). The reason I don’t use FC line more often is poor knot strength than equal diameter monofilament line. Tom
