Boat cover fabric question
Sunbrella is a good outdoor material but not water proof as far I know. Towable covers are OK for Aluminum boats not so good for fiberglass unless custom made with pads in the wear spots and trailer tie downs. A water proof tarp over the cover is a good choice along with frame supports and good water rain drainage and snow weight. Tom

Boat under 20’ storage length
BassCat makes their own trailers to custom fit their boats. Some swing trailer tongues pull straight out before swinging to one side and that design requires about 4” extra. The Fulton design swings back without extra length and weld on is shorter then bolt ins. Removable tongue doesn’t hing, pull 2 safety pins and remove the receiver. I would contact BassCat and inquire if they can shorten the overall storage length 4”. Tom

Boat under 20’ storage length
BassCat Bobcat is 19’11” with swing tongue trailer. 94” door opening is too narrow. Bobcat can use 150hp engine! What I did with the same problem was put the boat in the double door side and park another car in the single door side, problem solved. Tom PS you can get a removable trailer tongue kit and shorten another 4”. Triton TR 179 with a removable tongue kit works.

Experienced based opinions of a 13 tackle Blackout casting rod, please
13 Fishing was taboo on this site for years until Rapala-VMC bought them a year ago. The original rods are being closed out everywhere don’t believe much experience with new models yet. I have zero experience with 13 Fishing and get nervous posting anything 13 🤬 Tom

Why are all fish not smart enough to not bite lures with those giant clear lips ?
Because it’s winter and the bass like the fisherman are bored😎

Not sure what my thinking was🤔
Rod power varies greatly between mfr’s. St Croix power ratings are about 1/2 power greater then Dobyns for example Generally power 3 is Medium, power 4 is Medium Heavy and power 5 is heavy being the majorly of bait casting rods for bass. Spinning 2 power being Medium light and 3 power Medium for most applications. Action is how the rod bend under nominal load when casting lures. Moderate the rod bends about 1/3 the length, Fast about 1/4 the length and Extra fast about 1/8 the length. More rod bend is easier to cast lures like crank baits and Fast is better to feel lure moments. The “average” bass rod is 4 power or MH and action F for Fast for bait casting reels. 3 power or M nad F fast action for spinning. Those 2 combos are good to start with. Mono or Copolymer lines is easiest to cast followed by Fluorocarbon the braid being more difficult. Tom

Not sure what my thinking was🤔
Learn to cast using 12# Trilene Big Game mono line, it’s is inexpensive premium line. You didn’t identify the rods or reels so can’t help in that regard. If the reel is a 100 to 150 size and the rod is somewhere between 6’6” to 7’ Medium or Medium Heavy Fast or moderate action start with the 6.2:1. Treble hook lures lures are OK for surface and shallow diving lures fished from shore. Weedless (Texas) rigged worms with a 3/16oz sliding bullet weight is a good lure/rig to learn with. Look at Glenn’s tutorial video’s for good presentation tips. Tom

Novice angler looking for tips on bass habits
The basic annual life cycle for Black Bass including Largemouth is winter the cold water period when bass are less active and in deeper water. When the water starts to warm the bass move up into shallower water becoming more active and feeding getting ready for the Spawn. Bass Spawn when the water, not air, is about 60 to 70 degrees near wind protected areas making about a 2’-3’ diameter clean bottom spot for a nest visible to anglers. After Spawn is over bass scatter for the Summer and can be found anywhere from 1’ to 40’ of water. Summer is followed by Fall when the water temps drop approximately below 70 degrees until about 55 degrees when the Winter cold water period starts again to complete the cycle. You want to fish for bass where they are located. It’s a long journey figuring out all the nuances of Bass behavior....enjoy. Tom

I want to learn to skip with a baitcaster
I prefer using a MF 6’10” casting rod using 11# Armilo mono line for skipping jigs. My technic before knowing what skipping was is making a fast side arm cast aiming about 5’ in front of the target and let the jig skip under the dock. I don’t use much braking controlling the spool with my thumb like any cast. Never tried to skip a jig using my MH+ 5 power jig rod because the tip doesn’t load as easy. The reels listed are all good. Sougayilang Reels?
The Japanese were were the 1st to adopt the USA mfg technology by visiting trade shows and buying CNC machines as customers. This was followed by South Korea who bought the technology and machines in return to mfg parts at a lower cost. The Chinese simply stole the technology, copied it and counterfeited USA products. You can blame those who gave away technology to save money but buying from someone who stoled the technology is unforgivable. No product support from a thief. Tom

Quick question on bass behavior
digital thermometers are close to instant reading, mercury thermometers require time in minutes to adjust to the surrounding water temps, ie a pool thermometer. Tom
-
Quick question on bass behavior
Depth of light is needed to warm and hatch eggs/ bass fry. If water clarity is poor means the bass spawn shallower. Tom

Jitterbug
TW categorized Jitter Bug as a wake Bait in lieu of a surface crawler that it is! The folding wind crawlers dates back to Heddon’s Crazy Crawler, everything in that category mimics that lure. Tom
