My Son got this reel for me. Anyone have one? I’ve never heard of them.

Seems to be well made. I haven’t fished it yet…

Do a review on it for us, Mike. It's a discount Chinesium brand sold on Amazon.

@N Florida Mike Although I haven’t purchased any of their reels I’ll agree with Ken - @MN Fisher it’s a Chinese produced reel. I’m not knocking it as I have no idea how it’s made but I will say I have tried a few different Chinese reels including a KK and a Piscifun and I will say my Piscifun Carbon X reels have been treating me well for years. The only thing I will say is customer support for parts is sketchy at best and if you can find the original model they are cloning you may do ok finding parts as I recently did. Also as Ken said give us your thoughts.

I caught a couple dinks with it so it’s hard to tell how well it fishes, but I think I like it. It has a 5:2:1 gear ratio, which I like for worm fishing. The outer parts are not plastic, which I like. I like the appearance of it too.

It has a slight rough sound when reeling in. Like it sounds on a reel when the gears are about worn out, but not as bad.  It’s hard to believe something could be much good from you know where.

But I would say it’s worth it for the price…

The Japanese were were the 1st to adopt the USA mfg technology by visiting trade shows and buying CNC machines as customers. This was followed by South Korea who bought the technology and machines in return to mfg parts at a lower cost. The Chinese simply stole the technology, copied it and counterfeited USA products.

You can  blame those who gave away technology to save money but buying from someone who stoled the technology is unforgivable.

No product support from a thief.

@WRB I get what your saying but much of what is at wal mart is from there. Probably the exact same scenario. I try to stay away from walmart  as much as possible but when you don’t have much money, it draws you in…

If your son bought it off Amazon, there's usually a return window of 30 days. If that hasn't elapsed yet, send it back for a replacement. Won't cost him or you anything to do so, and you might have better luck with the second one.

I don't care where anything is made as long as it meets my needs, global economy and all.  I have bought a couple of the cheap amazon fly reels and are they as nice as my Lamson's, nah but for what I use them for they are great.
