  1. I agree here,I don't believe the bass hone in on the smell as much as we like to think. I'd like to think that once they bite a bait with scent, there's a higher possibility of them holding on just a second or two longer.Allowing you to set the hook on them. Again it could be just confidence as well. Berkley has some of the nastiest smelling baits on the market, yet they work pretty well. So what do I know?! I made a jar of crayfish scent, that actually smells like crayfish....and I mean STRONG SMELL! I've used it a few times and one day I ran into a school of hungry Smallmouths that really favored that crayfish scent(tried a bait without it and they stopped biting). There was about 40-60 people lined up around that river bank and I was the only one catching them. Confidence? Scent? or pure luck on my part? I'd like to think it was a combination of all three...LOL.....at one point I was asked if I was a professional fisherman. I laughed and said "no".
  2. I have almost too many to list to be quite honest. There's three of them that stick out the most. 1. My old sega video game system fell on my head........blood everywhere and mom was freaking out...LOL 2. Middle school, walking into the gym and there's a long metal pole used to hang the flags up. It fell over while i was walking through the door and cracked me right in the head. The school was so paranoid that they thought I or my parents were gonna sue them. I was fine and hardly felt a thing, but everybody else was like "dude, how did you handle a blow to the head like that?" I replied back "Guess I'm hard headed"....lol 3. Playing softball with brothers and some girls.......Some girl hit the ball pretty well and wacked me right in the middle of my forehead.....never been more embarrassed in my life from that incident. I had a red mark for 2 days on my forehead......but the girl was rubbing my head for a week......so it wasn't too bad.....she was cute as hell!
  3. My buddy takes home Bass every so often.....I have no problems with it to be quite honest. He follows the rules and regulations. I'm strictly C&R for the most part.
  4. Serves him right....what an idiot.
  5. Since i grew up in Texas where the majority was Hispanic population....I grew up on baseball and Soccer(futbol).....I was a pretty good player too(they say good for a white boy...lol). I'm 70 pounds fatter and 20 years older....I probably would suck hardcore at it now.
  6. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/spinnerbaits-bass-fishing.html this is a must watch...it'll help you a little.
  7. Get yourself some tubs from walmart for $1.97.They are the perfect fit to hold bait packages...That's what i use in my fishing room to store my plastics.Since I'm a shore fisherman, binders work well. I've learned to just take what I need and really cut back on trying to carry 20+ pounds of plastic every time I go out. The only thing is if you are a rage tail fan, you'll have to find the right size tub,or put them in sideways . The rage tail packages are much bigger than your normal packages from other lure companies.
  8. I will be! Prayers sent.
  9. I'm always stocking up....the past month it's been nothing but jigs.
  10. How much of that plastic you actually use? i say invest in 2-3 binders for plastics.... http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-Single-Worm-Binder-Bag-or-Replacement-Pages/product/13318/197941 Something like this?
  11. Anybody watching that doomsday preppers on TV? I'm with Marty though,I don't think about it nor do I care to. I don't think you can fully plan for it.....it could be anything.
  12. Very, very good point here! I got a drainage creek right by the trailer park I live in and kids around here has told me there is crayfish in there. I remember growing up and there's a little creek where I used to catch crayfish with raw bacon on a string. It would dry up every summer in Texas being it gets so hot down there. Then comes spring and they would magically appear again in that little creek.
  13. Ever smell JJ's magic....It'll cause temporary blindness...LOL
  14. man,I've been fishing the gambler ugly otter for a few years now. So it only made me disappointed the bait got attention it is somewhat getting now. Ugly otter outfishes the sweet beaver for me....that was the only thing I had going for me here while everybody else fishes sweet beavers here mainly. Gambler has some great baits,so in the end I'm glad for the company.
  15. Technically you can't fish for them. lol. But yes bass will hit crappie lures as well. A buddy of mine likes to go fishing for Northern pikes...LOL. I'm not a cold weather person.....I'll wait till April or so before I do any fishing. However it's starting to climb into the 50's by next week.
  16. I fish zoom's ultra vibe once in awhile. I slowly pull my rod sideways and pause a few seconds. Works for me. My favorite continues to be watermelon seed color.
  17. Somebody here did that and caught a nice bass on it. I wish I remembered who it was!
  18. man,that is nasty looking!
  19. I ask myself this.....How often does a bass see a real worm swimming the bottom of a lake? Other than rain maybe washing them in,I've never heard of a worm swimming in the water. Yet Bass eat them pretty readily anywhere and everywhere. Just because it's not in the water doesn't mean Bass won't eat it. I don't have shad in my pond at work, yet they'll hammer the shad pattern crankbait.Bass are predators,if they can fit it in their mouth, they'll try and eat it.
  20. I don't play with my baitcasters in the winter either.....even in the early, early spring. I tried one year and I back lashed horribly because I couldn't get my thumb to work right. I don't break mine out till Late April or early May when the weather is a little warmer. One thing I hate about the North...it gets too dang cold up here...LOL
  21. I remember asking about how long they plan on doing this,I believe Glenn said there's a 20+ year plan as long as they can get people to participate.I'm gonna make it one year, but right now Money, time among other things just aren't allowing me to make it. Long as they keep doing it I'm bound to make it one year.
  22. There's suppose to be a type case they now sell where those devices will not work through it. If I can find it I'll post the link...but for the life of me I cannot remember what they were.
  23. I got a kid at my work who does the same thing....over 20 people has mixed it up for him and he still solves it in under a minute. he says nobody can mix it up good enough. Talk about amazing....It took me over 5 minutes and i gave up....
  24. X2 @ http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/ jigs. I absolutely LOVE mike's jigs. I caught my PB a few years ago on his jig. Northstar has excellent communication, get a hold of him and let him know that you are having problems. He may have some answers for you. He takes pride in his work and always puts his customers first.
