  1. You're not alone....I feel the same way sometimes. ;D I'm a little rusty when spring time comes around after a long hard winter up here. :-[
  2. Thanks for the reply firefightn15.Some reason i deleted the post of the handle issue, but a few did say that handle was uncomfortable.I figured it was just a personal thing and not a flaw of the reel itself so i didn't really point it out.Good idea on switching that handle.May have to mention that to the guys who didn't like the handle. The biggest argument from the posters i saw was the increased distant. They didn't say it was "false",they pretty much said it's not entirely true.Perhaps that's what they were pointing it out as. I realize this was a while back and the reel was new on the market. So I'm sure they had to have fixed some of these complaints. For it to have copy-cats it can't be too bad of a reel.Just curious what some of the copy cats might have added into the feature of the reel itself.
  3. Did that thing swallow a bowling ball? Dang that's a nice fish!
  4. Glen is it true you have to keep the reel pretty full of line or it'll catch on the spool? Every body i talked to had this complaint about them reels back in 07'.This is the major reason i didn't touch these reels,I break off and retie way to much too keep a full spool of line.
  5. hey

    Welcome aboard!
  6. I really want some wings now.....
  7. I had the same problem.I went back to trilene XT and haven't had a problem since. :-/ It takes some patience and practice working with the line.I apparently don't have the patience for it i guess.
  8. hello,welcome aboard!
  9. That post almost completely made me want to toss my baitcasters and say the heck with it. I feel entirely retarded now......It also made me realize how much i love my spinning reels... ;D
  10. I personally think you'll be very happy with it. I only have one burner reel and that's because the newer Curado doesn't come in a 6.3:1 ratio. I can always change it out if i want...the citica can be changed out as well.
  11. I notice when I break in a new reel, the spool starts spinning faster than usual. If you were't having problems before and now you are might be a good idea to put on 3 on and 3 off for the brakes. All my centrifugal brake system reels are set like that.I rarely touch them. Another thing that comes to mind is line. The limper that line is the better it'll cast.If that line gained some kind of memory from not using it much,it can make a big,big difference. This is why i can't cast fluorocarbon for nothing,it's stiffer and i backlash just about every time on it. You need a limp line to learn with before you start getting into any other hardcore lines.Using KVD line and lure conditioner or Reel magic may help you. I still can't cast anything under 1/4oz of weight pending on what I'm trying to cast as well. Weightless plastics? I can't cast them with BC either...All of that goes on my spinning rigs.
  12. My thoughts and prayer is with him & his family. His posts always cheered me up.
  13. Nice job! Only jigs i buy now.
  14. I'm just curious now,was there something wrong with the break caps or the things that hold the caps in place? That would suck casting and the break caps come popping off.I'd imagine the caps getting suck and you not being able to reel in.
  15. I use watermelon or Pumpkin color for tubes....Watermelon would be my choice for clearer water.I catch more on those two colors than any other color.
  16. I'm with rooster on this one. I learned on a bass pro shop extreme combo....Paid $99 plus tax.Right around Christmas time.
  17. I never even heard of these rods.Somehow even missed the article here about it too. Some of those rods look like they are sturdy enough to handle BIG swimbaits the way they are rated.
  18. Tube baits can be worked in any way.Pop or twitch them off the bottom, drag them, dead stick them, let the current drag them around.I t-rig them with some kind of wide gap hook usually with a 3/0-4/0 hook(Depends on the size of tube you are using).Use the lightest weight you can get away with. Many of my bites come on the fall or the way to the bottom. So be prepared to set the hook. You can also use an inside tube jig with an exposed hook if you don't have a lot of snags,I rarely miss a fish on this. I also think the lighter the line you use the better for these baits. Jigs are more of a slower bait for me.Crayfish move slowly with occasional burst of speed when frighten or threaten.I try to recreate that movement.Like tubes, the bite can come on the fall as well...if that jig isn't doing what it suppose to be doing set the hook.Jigs can be a little harder to detect the bite for some reason.
  19. Hello,retirement sounds nice!
  20. I don't see Jigs or tubes in that group. If they are spitting up crayfish,it's almost a must to have these two baits with you. I would start shallow and work deep. This time of the year where the baitfish is,is where the fish are going to be.Pay attention to what depth the fish are holding at.
  21. Been going through this for 10 months now.Best advice i can say and give is don't let it bother you. Things seem to be picking up around here,I finally think i got in a job.Took my drug test yesterday and now waiting for my phone call for orientation. I am 4-5 months away from moving out of Michigan "if" i can't find a job by then.
  22. I fish mostly parks and lakes with curfews. They are all closed from around 10pm-6am.
