  1. I fish from shore and kayak. Being on shore isn't bad and most of my PB have come from shorefishing.
  2. Nice fish Simon?! What about my fish?! > HAHA just kidding. Thanks for the kind words toward Simon and the concern for my wrist. The funny thing is, the wrist isn't hurt from working at a computer. It's from fishing.. Maybe I'm working topwater wrong but I hold my rod tip high to keep the lure at the surface and do a steady retrieve. When a fish hits, or misses, my lure it jerks my wrist downward and I think this is where the injury is stemming from. It doens't hurt as bad when I use a spinning reel but when I palm a BCer it's enough to make me stop fishin till it gets better. Aside from helping out at a local fish tourny I don't think I'll be doing any fishing for a week or two, or at least until the wrist heals up.
  3. Very nice!!!! Beautiful fish, scenery, and story. Still plenty of time left in the year to break this PB!
  4. Nice fish Allyn! That's a helluva swimbait, what kind of rod are you using to haul that sucker out there?
  5. Tried to fish some more over the long weekend but my wrist wasn't hackin it. I fished Sunday at a private pond with my buddies Jeremy and Simon and didn't do too great. 1.5lbs. fish were killing my wrist! :'( The weather was too hot and the fish just didn't want to bite. Ended the day with 6 or so with just 2 keepers and nothing two pounds. Simon on the other hand nailed a nice one on a sammy early in the morning. We thought it was a sign of good things to come but I guess we were wrong. The fish was 5lbs some ounce. Went out again today, and this time wore a brace to help my wrist. It was a private lake on my friend property and the water was really murky. I caught a small white crappie, two blue gill, two keeper bass with 3-4 dinks, and a nice perch. Going to take a week off of fishing as my wrist seems to get worst with the more fishing I do. Tight lines!
  6. pretty much! It just gets harder to get a bite.
  7. We were pretty much right outside the launch area within ft. belvoir. I'm not familiar with the base so can't say where we were exactly. Almost all fish were caught in less than 4ft. of water! I was here with my friend Jason, who works on base, last weekend and got skunked on shore, but with all the structure I saw I knew I had to get my yak out there! My wrist hurts like heck from all the topwater action!
  8. Thanks Paul, I checked it out and will put in an order soon. I sent Simon to Greentop to see if they might have the color I wanted in stock but all they had was peacock. Where you goin sunday?
  9. Went out on Accotink Bay this morning with my friends Jeremy and Jason. Got there at 7:30ish and put the kayaks in. The water was clear in some areas but really murky in others. Beautiful day to be on the water. On my first cast I caught a keeper on a ghost minnow buzzbait and so that was promising! We spent the next hour or so with a few bites here and there until we figured out the pattern that would work for us the rest of the day. BLUE! Anything with blue or blue flake the fish went nuts for! We threw black/blue ribbontails, black/blue lizards, white/blue hue rage shad, white/grey/blue flake rage shad, and green pumpkin/blue space monkeys. The top water action was AMAZING, or should I say, "outRAGEous" ;D Jeremy ended the day with over 40 fish (three or so in the 3lbs. range, at least three in the 2lbs. range, and a bunch of keepers/dinks) with the biggest being almost 4lbs. Here are a few of them. Fish this size all day for him. I had a mere 14 (mostly because I spent a lot of time fixing backlashes > ) with my biggest only being 2lbs. even. Here are some pix. My buddy Jason caught about 7-8 with a nice kicker! and the kicker.... a snakehead at 3lbs. 14oz. on a rage tail shad on 6lb hybrid on a ML rod. It was fun for him! That sucker would not open its mouth for me to put the scale on him so I had to straddle him between my legs and pry his mouth open with pliers. :-[ We, of course, killed it after take some more pictures. A very good day of fishing! Jeremy and I are all out of rage products! 80% of the fish caught were on topwater. I fished the space monkeys top water and had huge blow ups. Several fish came completely out of the water . The fishing really turned on around noon then died down and came back on at 3-4! Hope you guys had this kind of success as well!

  12. Killin them ?! They've been killin me :'(....What's the lure to use right now? P.S. Greentop is having a sale next weekend... I'm tempted to go..
  13. Dan, so maybe that hook IS too small. I went shoppin for more shakey head stuff but put them away to buy the LC. I'll be up in Ashburn on the 18th helpin those kids out with Simon (possibly). Might be able to get something goin on the 19th though. I'll let you know if anything comes up.
  14. I've never seen them at the one near my house (Kingstowne). Never checked the Burke one or any others in the area though.
  15. I bought a LC live pointer on impulse because I couldn't find any magic swimmers or lake fork magic shads. I want magic.
  16. HAHA Paul! ;D So seriously, whats working right now? Should i break out the shakey heads?

  18. Mike, i'll check it out! That's my all time PB, 7lbs. 2oz.! You free Monday or tuesday night? the 14th is a full moon!
  19. The weather's cooled down, but so has the posting in the Southeast section by the NoVA anglers ! Has anyone been able to get out and fishin the cooler water lately? Went pond hopping with Dan a few days ago but we didn't see much action. I plan on fishing accotink bay/dogue creek tomorrow and was wondering what's been workin lately in our area. If anyone's fished this body of water before, any tips? If anyone wants to join me, I'll be on the water around 8 tomorrow morning. I'll post a detailed report of how I do to make up for the lack thereof from the last few days in the Southeast! ;D
  20. Nice Fish Mike!
  21. Nice fish! What's that bronze spot on it's back?
  22. What a coincidence! I was at my sister in law's graduation from the Criminal Justice Academy in Northern VA on the Thursday prior. Lots of new fairfax county cops goin out there.
  23. Is holding a fish by the gill plates really better? I always try to minimize contact with the gills.
  24. Last I read on tackletour the new stuff was supposed to be comin in October. I haven't seen any preorders or anything for these guys and was wondering if any one had any updates on them. I curious to see how the new legend extremes will compare to other rods in that price bracket. I know it's only Oct. 1st but the suspense is killin me.
  25. you must be tying something wrong because that's never happened to me before. The only time the knot breaks on my leader is when I get hung up and break it off intentionally. I use 30lb braid to 14lb fluoro with a uni to uni knot.
