  1. Ditto on Nick's comment about the wrist not the arm or elbow. Also experiment with twisting your hand so the line is at different angles off the rod tip I am right handed and reel left sometimes catch line on reel handle twisting helps this problem. I still have a ways to go before I am A master with the batitcaster! Good Luck! Sinker48
  2. I agree with Roadwarrior the rubber nets are worth every cent no tangles no time loss, little stress on fish before you release it. Good Luck Sinker48
  3. Since the subject of nets was brought up. Why is it that it seems like in tournament tv shows no one uses nets aren't they taking chances of losing fish. Do they use nets when the cameras are not on them. Thanks Sinker48
  4. I agree on the fact that this is a great site Glenn you do a great job and should be very proud. I dont think it needs forums for different areas but needs general location that you are from mentioned. Also some times the abbreviations that are used are confusing to members out of the areas. Good Luck! Sinker48
  5. Thought you might find this interesting they use a similiar method in England call it Swimfeeders they have a device similiar to a can with holes punched in it. Put maggots and ground bait in. Hook device on line ahead of hook bait hook and position in trail from device. Read that in book titled The Complete Guide to Fishing Skills by Tony Whieldon. They have some very different fishing methods. Good Luck! Sinker48
  6. Marty sounds like you try to shop at Rochester Hollow Grinder. If you tavel west at all try Captains Cove Resort Bait & Tackle at Point Breeze. One trick I use is when I find something I want at the larger stores or in catologs ask the smaller shops to order them for you most have suppliers that can get for you quickly. Good Luck! Sinker48
  7. If you are fishing a large body of water one thing to remember is bass school with other fish of similar size so if you catch small fish move to another spot. The lunkers are territorial and will be alone. Good Luck! Sinker48
  8. Whats wrong with A winch and cable if it gets the job done. Besides I thought thats what bait casters are for! Good Luck! Sinker48
  9. I'm not sure of the law in New York state so check the rule book I think it states that it is illegal to target fish bass before season opens. That would mean catch and release is illegal. If you happen to be fishing for pan fish and catch a bass and release it thats ok. For the DEC to prove you are targeting bass is hard to prove so if you have guts go fot it . I personally don't agree with pulling bass of beds although my personal best was caught while fishing for brown trout in mid April of 2003. Had no camera with me and was fishing alone learned lesson about carrying camera. Good Luck! Sinker48
  10. Yankee_ Lake When they are talking about the 60lbs. test line it is the braided line that has diameter of the lighter line. Good Luck! Sinker48
  11. I don't believe fish feel pain. All fish have a brain the size of a pea capable of three things not sure these are right but I think they are reproduction, food intake, and escaping predators. One half of a fishes brain does not communicate with the other if a lure is taken on the right side and released same lure passes left side fish may bite again. In European countries when they catch and release fish they have ointment they put on injuries. Good Luck! Sinker48
  12. Dick's has the best selection in western New York State between the two. My personal choice is the local tackle shops even if you pay a little more. Good Luck! Sinker48
  13. Aoy: Is Santa Claus Close! Can't tell about bass in New York it's hard to tell through the ice. Good Luck! Sinker48
  14. I fish for anything that is byting prefer to catch small mouth. Where I fish from a dock we catch many variaties. I thihk smallies give the best fight and love to see them leap out of the water. Good Luck! Sinker48
