  1. Mac7373 Abuddy of mine makes his own pedal wells out of stainless steal and covers them with the same stuff they spray on truck beds (rhino liner) they are easy to install if you dont mined cutting a hole in your brand new boat.
  2. GamblerOh what make of merc are you having trouble with?
  3. I talked to a guy that had just bought a skeeter with a v-max and said it really sucked the oil compared to the mercury he had on his last boat. I cant say if this is true across the board or not.
  4. fatbass uses the same method I do. Cast onto shore any slowly crawl it into the water. My partner and I also do this with bedding bass.
  5. Ya Glenn that doesnt suprise me. I didnt want to say to much for fear of putting my foot in my mouth. Seems like nothing is 100% american anymore.
  6. I had a 40 hp merc on my first boat and it was a very reliable engine. I dont know if honda is now made in america but american products are very important to me
  7. How do I find the fishing log?
  8. Yes I use drift socks alot on lake erie. Whe drifting with tubes if the drift is to fast to maintain bottom contact Ill put one out to slow down usually tying it close to the center of the boat. Turn your motor all the way into the wind and it will keep your boat perpendicular to the wind during the drift and keep you from spinning
  9. Qoute 1) What might have been wrong with the original hulled mounted transducer and could it have been fixed? 2) I am thinking of repalcing this dash mounted depth finder with a digital depth finder and replacing my bow mounted flasher with an easier to read LPG unit. Where should I mount the transducers for these units and how? Smellycat, I dont know much but here goes. Mounted in the hull it was either coming out of the woter on plane or there was cavitation under the hull. Try a different location in the hull. Same with the transom mount. It is seeing cavitation. Up or down may not do anything because it may be mounted where there is a chine or a step in the hull directly in front of it, I had this problem and moving it away from a step in the hull cured it.
  10. mothballs will keep the cats out of your boat during storage
  11. Nick-Barr, What problem did you have with pennzoil?
  12. The more skills you obtain the more often you get lucky. Does that make any sense?
  13. [quote author=Cephkiller BTW, let's have an informal poll. Was Ike's self-DQ at the last BMC intentional or not? It sure got him a lot of exposure in an event in which he had virtually no chance of finishing well.
  14. Ive had two different marinas tell me that most blown engines they see are from using cheap oil, is Tcw3 different from different manufactures. There sure is big price differences.
  15. The falcon boxes are great for spinnerbaits, but for me something like the worm binders that were mentioned take up less room.
  16. Welcome ;D
  17. Ice just came off last week in Ohio
  18. On my graphs I can tell the difference between bottom and weeds, but if im in thick weeds I cant see the bottom through the weeds, with mt flasher I can. This is really helpful when trying to find depressions in the bottom (ditches, ect.)
  19. I posted about the advanages of fish finders on lake erie, you may think this is all deep water. WRONG. We hammer the smallies in less than 20 feet of water, most times much shallower, anyhow the graph will still find fish. Now talking about flashers!!!!! If you read these properly you can see the bottom through the weeds!!!! You cant do this with a graph (unless its a good color graph). All these tools are a great asset to your fishing, sometimes we prefish without casting a lure.
  20. I have to disagree, fish finders are a very valuable tool and when used properly will help you find and catch fish. I fish lake erie alot and without them you would be peeing into wind. Finding bait fish is the key to finding fish on this lake, without a fish finder you couldnt do it. The charter boats survive using them to find the schools of walleye and perch for paying customers. These guys will tell you they are for MUCH more than just seeing the bottom.
  21. 1986 ranger 373V lowrance gps/fishfinger, garmen 240, 150hp johnson, motor guide trolling motor. Its old but its been a good boat.
  22. Pond Pro Your friend could one day become your enemy. Does he eat chicken or wear leather?
  23. Fishrman They start at about 50 deg. and really take off at 60. There is a couple of power plants on this end of erie that have warm water discharges. Ill usually start there with jerk baits. If that doesnt work Ill head out to some humps in a little deeper water. Theyre usually not hard to find
  24. hey fishrman I can help you out. With a little common sense your boat would be fine. There is also good fishing in the freighter harbors when the lake is to rough
  25. The trailor tongue tight rope ;D I like that. I wish I had a dollar fro every time I busted my but doing that. Makes for great boat ramp comedy when its someone else.
