yeah this will be fun. like LBH said, if there are alot of guys on at the same time they someone who has everyones name (troutfisher) should start up an informal chat. but we could have a "scheduled" chat one evening of the week. fridays are nice. by the way, i want to change my AIM screen name to match my bass resource name but i want to keep my buddy list. anyone know how i can do this? i know that fly and i know exactly where it came from, hold on let me find the link. ah, here it is. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/intermediate/part38.html the tying steps are for the perch, not the "virtual sunfish" it it weedless. that monofiliment piece in front of the hook is the snag guard, they dont work too well so i dont bother to put them in, instead, i tie my flies upside down so t ha the hookpoint rides up and weight the bottom as a keel weight to ensure it stays riding up. i personally dont like that sunfish in the link as its very bulky and unnatural looking. it would also be difficult to cast. i make an excellent bluegill imitator that is much more realistic looking and its so much easier to cast. that fly in the link looks like it would require about an 8 or 9 weight rod to cast mine only requires a 5 weight. plus, a fly using that much deer hair would be a pain in the butt to tie!!!

dont know about soft baits but hard baits cant freeze. theres nothing there to freeze! theyre wood, metal and plastic. none of those "freeze". they will get very cold though. however, suprised nobody has brought this up, they are more brittle when theyre extremely cold. dont drop a crank thats been in freezing temperatures on a hard floor...expcet broken bills.

PETA is such a load of s**t.... they dont understand what fishing is all about and it barely even hurts the fish. i would do the same thing as the jake if i saw that thing!!!!!!

good idea! thanks. i was thinking of using it as a leader for my braid, but i wouldnt have thought to use it as backing.

i leave about 1/8 inch of open spool on spinning reels also. it is very important not to overfill spinning reels because if you do then the line will just pile off and tangle real bad (worse than a birdsnest on a baitcaster). on a baitcaster its not as important but i still try to get about 1/8 inch of open spool. like RobbyZ said, it just comes with experience. there is nothing too special about it.

yeah this is good advice right here. i tried JB weld and it kept the boat dry for like 10 minutes then the hull flexed enough for the brittle JB welt to just crack and pop right off. i got a tube of some kind of silicone that im gonna try. my boat is very old and has seen many owners, and there is just so much hardened crap caked on the bottom (many different sealants) and i think that might be the reason why none of my sealants have worked. how can i get this stuff off?

Give it to someone you don't like. The line is too thick, way too strong and far too stiff for bass fishing. The worst part, you cannot break it even when you want to (hang-ups). are you serious or are you kidding? :-?

what i do is i just spool on about 1/4 of the spool with backing and do the other 3/4 with my braid. if you really wanted to conserve braid (or whatever line your using that requires backing) you could spool up most of the spool with backing and then spool on 2 or 3 good casts worth of braid.

i think that ones a perch. paxamus, is there any kind of wildlife museum around that you could visit? they might have a display of a skeleton mounted or something.

i have some YUM Bill Dance pre-rigged crawbugs and they have the hollow scent chamber. i've only heard of YUM doing this.
