  2. my motorguide is running out of power alot quicker than usual.any way to check which is the problem?no line behind prop...battery reads 3 volts while running motor on high, than goes back up to 12 volts a couple minutes after shutting motor off.checked battery with gravity tester and it registered good.both are almost 6 yrs old and i always chg battery when i get home .thanks for any help..
  3. i use wordens timber tiger, now yakima baits,or something like that, and rapalas dt4's and 6's...
  4. last week after losing my 3rd good size bass on a crankbait i broke my falcon cara on the side of the boat...plus the bill on my dt 4 broke off also, needless to say i'm having a frustrating year and that just topped it off!!!! i hope i don't break anything else this year!!!
  5. did my post get deleted???
  6. i fished an area of mostly dead weeds in a lake that is chemically treated.I was in 5-7 ft and catching pike, pickeral, perch, and crappie.Would it be safe to assume bass were also in there and just not active.I used mostly a dt4 and jig/craw trailer....
  7. hi glenn,i was wondering if you can find some fishermen with any experiance fishing natural lakes that get weed spraying.Where i live the surrounding lakes get sprayed every year.I would like to know how this changes the bass's location and feeding habits. The weeds get pretty much wiped out and the lake looks like a desert on sonar and no baitfish activity.Do the bass go deep,Do they lay on the bottom,Do they feed at night more?I think it would be an interesting article and probably help alot of us who unfortunate enough to have deal with no weeds....thanks
  8. just out of curiosity, can anyone explain how the bass aoy pt system works.....thanks
  9. i really hate the weed spraying too but gotta keep the pleasure boaters happy too i guess...anyway thanks for the advice...i looked for scattered weeds last year ..the fishing is going downhill the past 3 yrs since they started spraying.....
  10. what are some ideas about where and what to try on lakes that weeds are sprayed to kill all the weeds....do the bass just hang out near the bottom...lake is a natural lake with an avg. depth of maybe 12 ft with a small area as deep as 30 ft...
  11. i have a garmin 240 and once in a great while i get a hollow square on the screen..sometimes near the bottom or like today suspended in a weed clump or something.Anyone know what this may be indicating...doesn't happen very often,i'm just curious....
  12. i have been out 6 times,i usually spend around 4 hrs on the water....approx. 24 hrs,1 small bass...and no other bites at all.....not just me though,i have talkes to other fishermen and nothing seems to be biting....i'm on vacation next week so i hope they wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. last time i had trailer lite problems i changed all kinds of bulbs, traced wires and checked grounds. it turned out to be the relay box,not the fuse box,on my nissan.Trace your wires from the plug on your truck back underneath the truck and see if you have some kind of box that your wires come out of.....
  14. thanks glenn,guess i'll be ordering a new one...
  15. whats the water temp you guys are catching them in? I went out last two days, only caught 1 small bass.I started off with jerkbaits, lipless, and spinnerbait in anywhere from 2-10ft....today i threw everything without much luck.Water temp is ranging from 49-52 degrees..
  16. i have a older garmin 240 mounted on my trolling motor and i have been getting blank spots on my screen. It will be marking the bottom ok then sometimes it will go blank for an inch or two then the bottom will come back. It's done in 5 ft so it has nothing to do with the range. Anyone know if this sounds like it's time for a new transducer or new fish finder?
  17. i use both,if i'm fishing in alot of weeds i use my graphite so i can rip the lure out, other wise i use my van dam quantum glass rod
  18. i was wondering if anyone has used this and does it really work on gut hooked fish..i have unfortunatly gut hooked a few bass this year and can't seem to get the hook out through the gills.....
  19. i was there sat morning....7 bass, mostly around 2 1/2 lbs, largest was 3 1/2 lbs...and a couple pike....should have paddled to the northeastern end as i suggested.....i rarley catch anything around the marina,a couple around those docks but few and far between.....
  20. that would suck, knew i should have went fishing this past weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. i had the same issue, then i read a post here that someone said to have the arrow on the bulb pointing up when you pump it..i tried it and the bulb fills up and the motor starts better....
  22. there was an article in yesterdays newspaper that they are not going to close any lakes except laurel lake...some towns have closed off the boats ramps but mass wildlife has told them to open them backup......
  23. i usually fish the northeastern end on the opposite end of the lake from the boat ramp, there aren't many weeds because they killed them off with chemicals but i have caught some huge crappies and decent perch along with 2-3lb bass with a chart/blk dt6 or dt4 fished slow, also have luck with a perch x-rap....i also use pumkin or black 7' power worms with a dab of chart. dye on the tail...some 5-6 lb bass have also been caught in 12-14 ft(not by me)!!!...funny your coming to the berkshires,if they close the lakes i was considering going to st catherine......good luck
  24. i fish pontoosic quite often, catch mostly bass, pickeral and pike but anyone planning on fishing in the berkshires check the mass wildlife page first for lake closings. zebra mussels were found in laurel lake in lee, mass and they are blocking off the access to many lakes. right now pontoosic and onota are still open, but i won't be surprized if they close them...also there may be wildlife personnal at the boat ramp to question you about where your craft has been and if it is mussel free.....
  25. i just started experimenting with a drop shot rig with some success,i was just wondering what your favorite baits are for this
