  1. i had problems with my trailer lights too..the directionals and brakes would work as long as the headlites were off and the nite lights wouldn't work, after many days of frustration it turned out to be the box under my truck..i even bought a tester to plug into the truck plug and it indicated everything was working....
  2. oh crap!!!!!!!!!!!! i wonder if they will put any falcon rods on sale to go with my new reel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. i have 4 accurists and like them but i had problems with 2 of them although i bought another new one this spring...i'll see how it goes..if i continue to have any problems i may switch brands..the oldest one i have is maybe 3 yrs old...
  4. finally found the problem with my lites...rboat was right,it was what they call a tail light converter...i had a little black box under my truck where the wires went to my trailer plug on the truck...although i bought a tester to plug into my truck plug and all the lites lit up as they should, when my lites drew on the voltage it was dropping.......my thanks to all for your help..!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. i've replaced all splices..grounds are clean..all lites have resistence with ohm meter...i think i surrender...i moved the ground on my truck..the only weird thing i found today was that although i bought a tester to plug into my truck and it shows everything is working ok when i have the directional on i'm getting low voltage in all the terminals on the plug on my truck yet if i turn just the headlites on and have 12 volts coming out of truck plug i only have something like 2 volts going to the first set of side lites..and if i check continuity with an ohm meter from that first set of lites to the trailer plug i get continuity so since i have very little hair to begin with and have been pulling it out for 3 days..i give up....once again thanks for all your help.....
  6. i guess i could try that..do you have a lite bar on the bottom of the back of your trailer also?..maybe i'll talk to the dealer to see if i could ground everything to the tralier like yours..i don't want to make matters worse and i'm a bit frustrated so it's best if i don't work on it for awhile!!!!!!..i guess the frame would be tubular, the wires are completely enclosed with no access except small holes where they come out of the trailer.....
  7. yes it is..before i do anything else what difference does it make if i grounds new led tail lites using ground from old lites or grounding directly to the studs..do led's draw more power or affect other lighting..
  8. don't know if the picture is gonna come out but i think i'm gonna end up bringing it somewhere..i don't really want to run the wires exposed under the trailer and i'd probably screw it up anyway...i don't need the tail lites for another month or so cause it will be too cold in the morning anyway....if the picture did comeout that white blob is 3 white wires,i believe one goes to trailer for ground, one to taillites and one for brake/directionals..also has 2 browns..must be one for taillites and one for brake/directionals....thanks for trying to help.....
  9. i messed up typing..it is a 4 wire plug..i found the ground attached inside the tongue....but what i found was there are3 grounds going into the plug terminal and 2 browns going into that terminal on the plug..plus green and yellow so i assume there are 2 circuits for the taillight(brown) and 2 circuits for the ground..also noticed my lite bar was wired different then the picture..mine had a ground on it (white and brown)..all my wires go through the trailer..(nitro).......
  10. any new suggestions...i bought a new trailer bar lite,,did just about what everyone has suggested..seems i have no or low voltage on some running lites..directionals and brake lites work..no running lites and when i turn on running lites directionals go out..would the only thing left be a wire problem inside the trailer frame..........desparate for help..i really don't want to pay a dealer $60.00 per hr to fix this........i did install led taillights and rather than ground them directly to the studs as suggested by seasense i used the same ground wire for the old lites..don't thing that would make a difference but who knows....
  11. yes a four way..i checked it yesterday and i have 3 wires going into the single terminal on the trailer plug..i assume 1 ground for each(running lite,direction,brake)..then they must ground on the truck..i will look under the trailer tomorrow to see if i can find a ground attached anywhere...
  12. i also fish a like where you i catch 10-12 inch bass all day..very seldom do i reel in anything 2lbs or more..it is very frustrating especially when i know the bigger bass are somewhere..but i can't find them..although it is a challenge..talk around the boat ramp is always where are the big ones!!!! so i'm not the only one that can't find them.....
  13. i ordered them from BPS..they had some on sale for 49.95 plus shipping of course...walmart here didn't have any.just had some regular trailer lites..i don't have any wires attached to trailer tongue..3 whites come out of harness and into tralier plug..maybe its grounded somewhere else on the trailer...anyway i'll get the new lites on and see what happens..thanks for all your advice...
  14. burley, the only way i found a team daiwa hat was to go to their website and order a catalog...
  15. i got the directionals and brake lites working but i think the socket is so rusted i couldn't get the running lites to work..i took burley's advice and ordered a set of led's...thanks for the trailer ball tip ghost rider, never heard of that..i've never really had a problem with any of the other boats i've owned so i think it's the socket........ozarkie..what do you do cut the white wire's from the trailer plug and fasten them to the boat.....
  16. apparantly my waterproof lites aren't waterproof....one lens still had water in it from last year and of course the socket is pretty well corroded...i'll probably buy a new lite....thanks for your help....didn't get to check it today with new bulbs.started raining so maybe i'll try it tomorrow
  17. thanks,i found a tester...truck seems ok..i guess i'll check bulbs and wires on trailer...
  18. i didn't see any at walmart,i'll check auto stores tomorrow maybe...i've wiggled the wires around with no luck..changed the plug on the truck last year...no change..theres a rubber block under my truck(nissan frontier)where the wires come out of.i'm just wondering if that is where the problem is...
  19. how would i go about checking the wiring on the receptacle on my truck with an ohm/voltmeter...sometimes my trailer lites work and sometimes they don't. i had my boat at a dealer last year and he said the trailer wiring was ok...i see they have testers in bps but i can't find any around here....
  20. i have 4 cara's and love them..previously i had rods from bps and walmart so i can't compare them to the big names you hear but for the price i am very happy with mine and will continue to buy more....need more reels!!!!! and$$$$$$$$$$$
