Just moved from the coast of N.C. to Concord. I am really loving the area so far. Equal distance ( about 35 min) to Lake Norman and Highrock Lake. I am about 3 min from the Charlotte Motor Speedway and zMax drag stip and about 5 from the BPS at Concord Mills. Will be looking to buy a boat in the next few months to start fishing the big lakes. If anyone needs a place to crash if you are in the area, just let me know.

I've been on recruiting duty for two years now. The time comes in short swings it seems. I may have all of the time in the world this week but the next I don't. I do actually love the job though. I am continuing to help the Corps for years to come. If anyone does fish Norman and wouldn't mind showing me around I would appreciate it. I should be settled in by mid June. Also if I posted this in the wrong section please move it, I wasn't sure if it should go here or in the regional sections.

My unit has decided to relocate me to a different recruiting office near lake norman. I am excited to be going somewhere new as I have been at or near Lejeune for 10 years. I am looking forward to the change in scene. I just got back from two weeks in PA, some things I learned. PA is beautiful but the roads suck. NOVA traffic sucks worse than anything I have ever seen. I am not saying all of the people from VA can't drive but the ones I encountered couldn't. I was glad to be back home after 10 hours on the road. Maybe I can meet some of you guys that are near Norman and possibly pay for gas for a few trips to try and learn the lake.

The company's location is 10 min from my mom and dad's house. Dad and I took a trip there a few weeks ago to look at them and to try them out. A little awkward at first when you try them out but after a while you get used to the foot controls without looking at your feet. The people there are super friendly and more than willing to help you out with whatever you need. I would highly recommend this boat to anyone. I was skeptical of some of the videos of how stable this boat was until I stood in it myself. There is absolutely no way to flip it by standing. You can set it up anyway you want. My dad is ordering one with a trailer and a outboard for around 4k . I would say that if you can afford it then pull that trigger with no regrets.

Sweet, I think he will fit well at Hendrick and if anyone is to take Mark's spot I think he is a good fit for it. I guess I will have a new favorite driver in Cup racing in 2012 if Mark doesn't have another full time ride which I doubt he will.

First I heard of this, is he taking Marks spot at Hendrick ? If so I think it will be a good mix, I am a big fan of Martin but at the same time I think Khane is a darn good driver.

For that we are all thankful !

I am having a bad spring so far, I have been fishing in two ponds and have caught a total of 5 fish in the past two weeks. One of the ponds I have killed them in the past on senkos. No luck. The other one is my cousins farm pond, I use zoom finesse worms on a spot remover jig. I have gotten good bites but just put tension instead of a good hook set. I blame this to fishing for spotted sea trout this past winter. It just seems that all my past knowledge isn't really panning out. I am in eastern NC and some of the fish should be starting to spawn and I can't buy a bite.

Last summer we were camping at Kerr lake, I set up one of my baitcasters with crawlers and was waiting for a cat to hit, well it got closer to bed time so my wife wanted to go to the bath house and shower. I left the line out and took off to the bath house. I came back and the rod holder had been pulled over and the rod was gone. The next day while we were all swimming my oldest was diving down to the bottom and coming up with old sticks and rocks, after about 30 mins he comes up with my rod in his hand. Check around in your local area ( craigslist and such ) there are people around here that fix xbox 360 problems such as rrd for around 30 bucks.

Thanks for the information guys, I didn't know the transom mount foot controll existed. That will save some money, I will need some for a decent FF still trying to decide what kind to put on.

Found a 13.5 jon boat on craigslist, made the trip to pick it up. Not sure of a brand or model the registration is pretty generic it just says " jon boat 1970" I got this boat for pond use and small lakes. The bottom width is 33 inches and its 46 across the top, I know decking this is out of the ? but do you think carpeted bottom inserts and carpeting the bench seats would add too much weight, I am also thinking of getting a bulldog foot controlled tm, Is there any equation for figuring out how much weight this boat can hold? I quit smoking last Friday the 15th, this past week has been the hardest week of my life as far as being ill, upset at my family goes, it hurts my feelings to have a serious attitude with my kids, but I would rather do that than have them see me smoke 1 more cigarette again.

Got out for the first time this year today. Temps have been in the 60's for the past three days, weather man said rain but it was pretty nice out. All I took were yum dingers and wooly bugs. Fished for about an hour on base and caught three. Nothing of any size but it was fun none the less. What really suprised me though was 2 younger guys and a young lady showed up about 30 min into it and one of the guys caught a 6 # off a zara spook. I would never have thought to throw a top water with the water temps still in the high 40's low 50's. I hope the weather stays like this for a few more days so I can catch a few more.

I think the Cardinals will upset the Saints. Ravens vs Colts I'm not sure the Colts are ready for the Ravens D. Cowboys over the Vikings My favortie team the Super Chargers over the Jets but I think it will be closer than most expect.

I agree with some of the earlier posts, I started my son out at 2 and he just wanted to cast out and reel it in. If you can teach your little brother to have some patience then the bobber and worms are the way to go. I would just throw out there to let him take a toy with him incase he gets bored and after the trip take him for an icee or something, that way the trips will be really memorable for him and if the fishing isn't hot atleast the memories will be fond and he will continue to look forward to the trips.

You would be refering to Cafe Risque' ( or something to that spelling) I grew up close tot there it is just outside of Dunn NC, never went there but some guys I knew did and from what they said it was pretty trashy.
