  1. I agree it would set the core/ci4 off, but for those who opt for a diff color reel it might be an eyesore, i have a curado mounted on a gblank with red threading and it doesnt quite look right...
  2. In got two gblank/curados I want to try also....today was a bit windy, maybe tmr?
  3. Wading...you crazy! I'll remember to think of you while I'm sitting in the shade enjoying the Arizona winter
  4. Don't know how i feel about the random splash of red on the split grip but it looks like a great rod, a bit pricey but if it's anything like a steez than it should have no problem selling
  5. I was going to say it has to be defense mechnism like a foul secretion from the skin since they are pretty much helpless in the water, I've seen bass and perch swimming around ignoring tadpoles and when I used to raise cichlids I caught crayfish for them to eat and the ocasional tadpole would make it in and I'd drop them in my pike cichlid tanks and they would mouth them than spit them out immediately.
  6. yup black or red finned pacu are reffered to as tambaqui

I'm planning a trip to Florida for sometime in February and would love some company from my nova breathren or anyone who wants to meet up down there! I'm sure we could get some group discounts on guided trips whether salt or fresh. So who's in or who knows some hook ups down there post up!!
  11. I don't have cable....
  12. Thats a shame to hear, it's amazing what people do, the sad part is it was probably just a crime of oppurtunity and they just grabbed whatever they could as fast as possible and got out of there..chances are they had no uses or have no knowledge of 'pawning" fishing gear and might have ditched it in the woods or alley nearby. He might want to just scout the area near his house quickly. It would be great if he found it and best wishes to your friend
  13. Senko handsdown, how many imitators are there out there again? ;D My first bass ever was on a senko type worm I found on a shoreline while handfishing with a can 9 years ago, and it won't be my last thats for sure

  15. I have a blackhills archery custom 70# purple heart long bow with a draw capability of 32", beautiful bow and shoot beautifully if you interested send me a PM
  16. I'd go with the curado, its lighter and faster and has enough drag, dont the STX and Patriarchs have like twice the drag capabilities? But, then again you might be wasting a curado...Im sure you could put the curado to better use on a rod designed for more finesse fihsing than the frog rod..
  17. Well they're dangerous to the eco system that's for sure. If they and the asian carp make it to the great lakes that can seriously screw things up for us fisherman. no, that is not for sure. This has been discussed thoroughly in previous threads. They have NOT had any detrimental affect on the Potomac ecosystem in the years they have been here. Hmmm, that's interesting. I think I'll take the word over scientists rather than fisherman talking on forums. No offense. There's a reason why scientists and fisherman are worried about the asian carp species. Fish that eat everything and reproduce fast can have an effect on the eco system. For instance, say you have a pond with bass and bluegill. Then fill it with a ton of pike, the effects can be devastating because the pike will eat off a lot of the other species. Thus screwing up the balance. This is kind of a bad analogy since a Pike is a native speices, but I have seen this happen in ponds. Personally I don't want them in our lake and rivers, just to be on the safe side. You would rather take the word of a biologist over a fisherman forum right well not to beat a dead horse and bring this up all over again but please can you cite some non asian carp related source's that have any solid proof that the snakeheads are directily having a negative effect on the potomac river, and not just speculation?

  19. Coming from DC to Phoenix on the 10th-15th, wondering if there are any good holes around there so I know whether or not to go through the hassle of bringing a rod or two, or if anyone out there wants to help me break this cold weather dink-spell I'm having in DC... Thanks in advance Thai
