Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Absolutely. At Highland Lake, the water temp was 68 at the southern end. and 61 at the northern tip. I'm not sure what it is supposed to be, but 61 is incredibly cold for this time of year for as far south as it is.

Got out today on Highland Lake and froze our butts off! Felt way more like October than August today, and fished like it as well. Pretty slow until the afternoon, and then caught a 3lber and then this 5 lb 13 oz beauty. Love that place. Shane, I'm trying to free up a Saturday as soon as possible!!!!

I have not been out since I was there last time. I'm dying to get out again, but I just have not had the time. My 3 year old has different plans for me. I usually get out on Fridays, but my wife and I are taking our kid to the ocean this Friday. Maybe next Friday? I can get there pretty early.

My favorite spinning combo that I bought when I first got into bass fishing was a St. Croix Triumph rod and Shimano Sedona.. Nothing special, but expensive for me back then. I dropped it into the lake after the most amazing day of smallmouth spawn fishing on my way back to the launch..not even fishing. I marked the spot on my electronics, and came back in the spring. Dove down again and again, and after about 10 minutes came back with my rod. I felt like a complete hero. That lake has extremely clear water, so I felt good about going in. I also had a friend that lost a rod on the same lake due to a fish grabbing a lure that was hanging out of the jon boat, and pulled the rod into the water. I found the rod at the other end of the lake in about 7 FOW one day while out fishing. I snagged it with a jig and brought it home to him. He thought I was joking when I called him.

Cool. That would be great. I cannot believe it took me this long to get there. I have to pass Lake Nubanusuit to get there, and I always got distracted. I'm also interested in hitting up Island Pond, the one you pass just before Highland. I've heard good things.

Hey Guys, went out for the first ime in quite a while. Had a great day at Higland lake. The highlight was this 5lb 4 oz beauty, that I swear was bigger than that, but I gotta trust the scale! If anyone has any tips for Highland, please let me know. It was my firt time there today, and I think I'm in love. It's only 15 min from my house, and it's my new favorite spot.

I've fished It's got good smamouth and trout, but it tends to be busy. I know someone that got thier PB smallie there. If you're in that area, you could also go up to Pleasant Pond in Henniker if you're not loving Mt Williams. It's got a good largemouth population, and it's not usually very busy. It's one of my favorite ponds in the area, and perfect for the canoe. If you do go, the back end of the pond is fun frog fishing. Dudley Pond is right there also, on the same road as Pleasant. They are both in Clarks with good directions, but let me know if you need any info.

Quabbin Opener
I was wondering if I could bring the Nitro and just use the trolling motor. Does seems like a big waterbody to have to deal with that. Can you bring a trolling motor and attach it to thier boat? I have a trolling motor that I use on my canoe that I could easily attach to it if it was allowed. I was gonna head to Newfound soon...spawn has got to be getting going there now.

Quabbin Opener
I wish I was not working that dayo or I'd be there. I live in Peterborough, so the Quabbin is not too bad aof a drive. I've never fished it because they won't allow my 90hp Nitro on it, and I have not gotten the courage to rent one of thier boats. Maybe some Friday in the next few weeks if you plan on going again. I'd love to check it out. By the way,I just saw that one of your favorite lakes is Newfound. Mine as well.

Nice fish guys! I got out this morning in the canoe until the rain at 12:00pm. I caught a good amount of fish around beds, the biggest being a 3 lb 6 oz LMB, and a 2 lb 12 oz LMB. I've got a pic of the 3 pounder, but it;s terrible so I'm going to skip posting it.

Hey, we had some luck in Southern NH today! Here are the pics; 3 lb 10 oz smallie 4lb 6 oz smallie And my buddy caught another 4lb smallie that I do not have a picture of because we wanted to get her back in the water ASAP. These were just the biggest fish, but I also caught another 3+ LMB and a ton of smallies. What a great day.

Nice fish! I do a decent amount of fishing in far northern Vt....near Jay Peak. Good stuff up there, and little pressure.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Hey guys I went out in the canoe today and found smallies aggressively guarding beds all over the lake. They were hitting Senkos, black and blue bitsy bug jig with green pumpklin trailer, and lizards rigged on a spot remover. It was VERY windy to be out there in the canoe, but it was worh it, I have a picture of one of many 3lb smallies that I caught today, but it won't upload to my gallery. It says I don't have permission to upload "that type of file". What, awesome fish file? Heading out again tomorrow to another lake. Not sure where yet...

Have you tried fishing Otter Lake in Greenfield yet? It's not very big, but it has a ton of bass. It's also perfect for the canoe. It's part of the state park, but you can launch from the public launch . You can park there too without having to pay. It might be a drive for you, but it's as close to a sure thing that I know of.

Wow. I grew up in that area (Silver Lake and Chocorua), and thats the biggest smallie I've ever seen caught from there. Really nice fish.

NIce fish and video. When I hooked into the SMB in my profile pic I was going "HOLY *****, HOLY *****, HOLY *****""! Then I realized I was less than 20 feet from a bunch of chicks sunbathing. I apologized, and then started up again when I got her in the boat.

Franklin Pierce Lake, Nh
I have fished a ton there. I'll be curious as to the water level as it was really low last time I drove by on Monday. I'll be going by again on Monday and will let you know how it looked. I have good luck with green pumpkin or watermelon senkos, tubes and lizards, and black and blue jigs. It's mostly a largemouth lake, but it has a good amount of smallies and a few Pike as well. Also stocked with trout. Water is slightly tannin colored, and has a sandy, rocky botttom overall. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

The access must suck because I lived in Hillsboro for 8 years, and had a good friend who lived on Craney Hill, and I've never found Craney Pond! I have not really looked that hard, but I thought I knew all the good ponds in that area. You should try Upper Pond if you fish the area a lot. Try Middle Pond if you want a real bad access! Anyway, I went out yesterday in the Nitro from 12:00pm to 5:00pm and just killed it. Water temps ranged from 43-48 through the day. I must have caught 15 bass. Most were 1.5-2 lbs, with a few around 2.5lbs. All came on a 1/16th black and blue bitsy bug jig. Most fish were in 5-8 FOW around rocks or trees. Just an awesome day to be on the water. By the way Mike, I had an open seat but did not see your post until this AM. Send me a PM next time you are looking for a seat. I usually have an open one. Here is my first fish from yesterday:

I love the Pointer 95 and 100. The Slender Pointer is a real killer in the early spring. The Pointer 95 is silent for those days when you don't want the rattle. I'm also a fan of the Live Pointer.

Lucky Craft ANYTHING. Really, they just work. The only downside is the price.

I live just down the street and the water level is on the high side. The river is running high, so the main lake is high. I'm fairly sure you'll make it under the RR bridge fine. Although, high water for Powder Mil is 3.5 feet lol.

Well, it was nice to see snow this AM....not really. Anyway, the road to the ramp for Otter is in need of repair. It's had a major washout recently, and I don't think I'll risk my rig on it. My Jeep Cherokee made it over and back, but I'm not going to try with a truck and a trailer for now. It looks like a recipe for getting stuck, even with 4WD.
