It does get busy on a nice day. A lot of kayakers but jet skis are not allowed thankfully. It's a fun lake to be on in less-ideal weather because of how undeveloped it is. You feel more like you're in NH or Maine with not a soul in site.

Caught this 4.0 tonight on a plastic worm. 

Made up for last night, was all but shutout except for a scrawny pickerel

Last minute decided to go after work tonight. Lost one easy over 6lbs at the boat. It blasted my spinnerbait just a few feet from the canoe. Got a good look at it. Fought it for about maybe 30 seconds then came up out of the water and threw the lure. It was Big. Been having more chances with bigger fish lately, no rhyme or reason.

 

The pond I fished tonight is very small and no one fishes it anymore, probably because it gets so choked up with weeds and pads, it's kind of forgotten. Almost every time I go there I spook something big. Twenty years ago I caught a 7.1 and 6.3 in there on the same night, fifteen minutes apart.  

Tonight I did end up landing a couple around 3 and a few smaller ones so not a bad night considering.

Fished for stripers behind my house Wednesday and Thursday.  A 3-12 and 4-14 made it to the kayak Wednesday.  A 4-2, 4-8, and 7-8 came on Thursday.  All five fish slammed a bone Heddon Super Spook, making for a good time.  Water temps were in the mid-high 60's.  

 

I took a friend's son to Monoponsett today to try to get him at least one fish before he heads to SIngapore for his Masters Degree.  Evan caught one bass and two picks, all on a Jackall Chubble square bill.  I grabbed three small LMB, two on a green/red flake Structure Bug and one on another Chubble.  Water temps were in the low 80's.  We beat-feet around 5:00 PM when jet skiers took over.  Congrat's to Evan, since it was the only day this Summer he could fish.

 

I can't confirm, but a local coming off the water thinks the town treated Monoponsett to kill off the weeds.  What I saw supported him.  There was little vegetation and what I saw was a distinct brown color, which is the opposite of Ponkapoag, where the vegetation is lush and dark green.  Monoponsett's water is also the same coffee color I saw after Braintree killed off much of the vegetation at Sunset Lake a few years ago.

West Monponsett is always a mess. It has had an algae problem for years. It's amazing how different the water is at East.  ?

Got on a wild carp bite again, floating a hair rig. Switched to bass and caught two, not much for quality however. The big one was hooked in the tail, now I am not sure how that happens with a hair rig under a bobber. The other two were smaller, hooked in the mouth. One was a mirror, which is uncommon.

Bunch of fish tonight.

A 4.9 (pictured) and a 4.0 were the biggest. 14 in all.  Amazingly only lost

one. 

My hook sets are getting better which has been a challenge in this 12ft canoe. I had to lower the seat just to be able to fish out of it. Best thing about it is it only weighs 33 pounds. Not very comfortable though.

Caught them all on a plastic worm.

Been using Zoom trick worms lately in black, junebug or watermelon. 3/16 weight and 5/0 wide gap hook.

I tend to go either big or small in the summer. Big worms on a T-rig are my favorite in the summer. I like the 10" curly tail power worms, and also the 12" Manns Jelly worms. Lightest weight I can get away with, usually a 1/4oz unless it's windy or real deep I'll do a half ounce. 5/0 straight shank worm hook.

 

The other end of the spectrum I'll rig a 6" roboworm on a size 1 hook. Sometimes I'll rig it with some split shot above it on the line if I'm working it slow through heavier weeds, or I'll dropshot it on the same hook, just rigged weedless.

 

Can't go wrong with a weightless senko on an EWG hook either.

I just picked up a few bags of Zoom Ole Monsters this week and plan on throwing them this weekend.  I'm catching a lot of 2-4lb bass over the past several weeks.  Hoping a big worm will lead to some larger fish.

10" worms (black PowerBait) is one of the few baits that don't work for me, just worked with them for an hour or so earlier this week. I'm throwing along the weed lines and not even getting a nibble on a pond that has many big pickerel. No idea what I'm doing wrong but they just don't work for me here in the western part of the state. I fish weeded up ponds under 100 acres.

 

Can't get a hit on a chatter bait either.

I don't catch many pickerel using them unless I hop them faster. Some days I just can't get bit on the big worms though, it happens. 

Couple more 4's last night. Again another really solid night on one of my top spots. These fish, all of them, have been fighting with such power lately. I guess summer heat has them in prime form? Seriously baffled that first one wasn't over 6?

Working worms off pads and then weirdly slowed after sun went behind trees. Started throwing a spinnerbait and immediately connected with a run of four of them on my way out til I left in the dark. 

Going to Cape Cod in a few weeks, Eastham. Can anyone point me towards some good bass fishing? Or salt water fishing? I’ve never done any salt water fishing, I have no idea what to do, I’d just like to catch some fish

From shore, there's shore access @ Hinckleys, Seymour, Sheep, Goose, Cliff Pond, Flax, just to name a few.  Google maps will be your friend down there.  All the waters I've mentioned have LMB & SMB.  Check with each town's rules about needing a town sticker to park during the Summer.  Seymour requires a town sticker.  You can buy a daily parking pass for Sheep, but there's not much shore access there.  Cliff and Flax are in Nickerson State Park. 

 

As far as salt water goes, I can't really help down there, perhaps stop at a local bait/tackle shop OTW down or one of BR's members that lives down there will chime in.
