Got out to Little Pond in Plymouth @ 0500. Caught 2 OK LMB & 2 little ones straight away with a T-Rigged Zoom. Once the sun really came up had only panfish nipping the tails off my worms. Tried Senko & deep crank for a bit without success.

I think I'm going to burn a lot of gas this Summer.

Had appointments to keep so I bailed @ 0900...

Finally got my goal bass, I’ve been hunting this fish for years. Countless hours and heart breaks.  I started out waking up at 430 am, feeling like crap, mixture of expired cheese and a couple of be

New PB Alert!   Just got back from Wequaquet (air 80, water ~77). Overall, the fishing wasn't great with the water hot and bluebird skies overhead...and yet it all came down to one pitch and

@Saltysmalljaws and I did some pre-frontal damage yesterday before the rainstorm blanketed the upper-cape. Morale of the story: even in low 40dg water-temps, when the conditions line up right, these f

Got over to Whitman's Pond in Weymouth for the first time. Caught one little bass and spent most of the time exploring the place. Lots of weeds, with depths ranging from a couple of feet to 22/23 in the channel area. The boat ramp is nicely kept.

One old timer I talked to on the way back to the ramp had just caught what he called "a nickel" on a chartreuse spinner bait. Lucky for me, I'd brought only soft baits and a few Rapalas...

Got home from work and the family had gone to Cape Cod for the day.  Loaded the truck and went back to Whitman's pond again around supper time.  Stayed until dark and explored the southern section.  Came up empty even though my Lowrance told me they were there.  Senko's, cranks, and spinner baits produced nothing but casting practice.

One other guy was there and said he'd struck out tonight too.

It's only my second time there, so I'll keep at it as much as I can.

If I find myself awake early enough tomorrow morning, I'll hit Little Pond in Plymouth - I've had better luck there.

Went fishing for the second time this year and hit Houghton's Pond on my way home from work. Not much was working but I did get 3 on a lipless crank. Not big but they bent the rod which is always a plus.

Arched rods my friends!

High noon at Houghton's Pond was a good place to be today, unfotunately, after my fourth fish and a 1.5 hours stay, I got a call to go to Quincy...Oh well, win some you lose some.

Jiggy...Jiggy...Jiggy...Shut Off your cell phone when the bite is on.....Bite stops...cell phone on....get it?

You are correct, but that can only happen on weekends unless I hit the lottery, which means I have to start playing the lottery!

Always great to hear from you grampa!

Good to hear that you're out there Jiggy...Keep sneakin' casts and hang in there.....

I'm winding a project down in Boston, I may have the sniffles coming on and will have to shut my cell phone off in order to get the proper rest. :wink2:

Got down to LIttle Pond in Plymouth at first light yesterday.  Same story as last time.  Caught 4 decent/OK bass right off the bat then practiced casting until after lunch when I switched to 5" Senko (T-rigged) which was getting hit, but I wasn't getting a good hook set.  Had one more spit me when it came out of the water about 20' from the kayak.  Overall, a good day.

Good to hear Houghton's pond is producing, thanks for the report Jiggy.  Might have to try it out after work.  Blue Hills reservoir is just about fished out, methinks - too young a pond (2009) with too many folks taking their catches home for dinner.

You'll be getting on em soon enough, and I hear ya about needing a boat, but I'm pushing for a Kayak.

I got 4, but nothing of size. The slow presentation has not produced, all my bass have been on reaction/moving baits. Funny you should mention Blue Hills, I was gonna stop by there of Friday on my way back from Quincy, but couldn't find a place to park.

I think my next stop is Buckmaster's in Westwood, I usually can do well during the summer months there.

Hit the water again after work this afternoon around 1:30 pm and still can't get a bite on soft plastics for whatever reason, so back to the trusty crank. I wasn't getting much on a rippin or a stop and go retrieve, but I remembered this technique I read about call "sliding". Basically it's a variation of a stop and go, after the stop, lightly raise your rod tip from 8:00 to 10:00  o'clock without having the lure virbrate - the slide - reel back down to 8:00 o'clock maintaining contact with the lure and start vibrating the lure again. The bass today were hitting on the slide and I ended up with 4 for the 1.5 - 2 hours I fished.

Great technique that I totally forgot about until today, give it a try.

Got over to Whitman's Pond after work. Paddled out to a different section and caught a decent 2lber but gut hooked him and couldn't get it out. Ended up cutting line @ hook and releasing it. I accidentally killed another bass I gut hooked last year. :(

Will research and hopefully not do it again anytime soon. Also caught a good Crappie on a T-rigged 5" Zoom U-Tail.

Neither Senko or 8" Zoom produced as much as a hit.

Jiggy that is the same technique that you need to use for your plastics. It's been working all season. Zoom swimmin' super fluke jr. in a shad color....mmm..mm.

You know, you're right, I should rig up a fluke jr.!

When I was posting about soft plastics, I was referring to dragging bottom, but if I'm getting nailed on a horizontal/reaction presentation, why waste time and force a bite?

Got a quick hour at Blue Hills Reservoir between jobs.  Caught one bass about a pound or so on a swimming Senko.

With some luck and planning I should be able to get out Saturday afternoon/evening on the Kayak somewhere....

I'm hitting Blue Hills tomorrow, where would you think would be the most productive location if you were staning on the point? I'm guessing where the tanks are would be a good fish holding spot. AND DEEP!

The tanks are underground on the hill east of the water.  You'll see the flag poles.  I've had my best luck by the valve house on the east corner, on the road side of the bank.  I used a castable fish finder to map the place out best I could.  The pond is a big cereal bowl, with maximum depth is roughly 25 feet.  The North - North/East bank is best in the summer with a drop off roughly 20' off the bank.

The south west corner, inside the point is only a couple feet deep.

The point has another drop off 15 - 20' from the bank, though I've never had great luck there.

This pond is young, with the tanks being finished somewhere around 2008/09.  I've been told it was stocked, but fear that too many people are taking their catches home for dinner because my catch quantity & quality is way off from last year, and without catch & release, the population isn't going to recover quickly enough to grow big bass.
