I was fishing over in Billerica, Ma today.  Ended up throwing the black/blue football jig with a Orange Havoc craw trailer and came out big.  My PB LMB, had to be over 6+.  Still a little bit of ice on the pond but the bass don't care! Fish on the warmer side of the water and thats where you'll find them.

Congrats Bud! I don't know what it is, but you can get some real nice size bass just after ice out!

Finally got my goal bass, I’ve been hunting this fish for years. Countless hours and heart breaks.  I started out waking up at 430 am, feeling like crap, mixture of expired cheese and a couple of be

New PB Alert!   Just got back from Wequaquet (air 80, water ~77). Overall, the fishing wasn't great with the water hot and bluebird skies overhead...and yet it all came down to one pitch and

@Saltysmalljaws and I did some pre-frontal damage yesterday before the rainstorm blanketed the upper-cape. Morale of the story: even in low 40dg water-temps, when the conditions line up right, these f

Was that over at nuttings lake i know there are some big fish in their.

Thanks Jugfishin10.  It was at Winning Pond by the jail on Treble Cove rd.  I've always pulled dinks out of there 2lbs max.  I did not expect that size to come out of there.  Jigfishing is the best fishing!  You may not catch tons of fish, but you'll hook up with some beasts.  Started using the pig n jig technique last year and haven't stopped.

I've fished a few times at Nutting Lake and have yet to catch anything.  I usually hit up Russel MillPond in Chelmsford and I've had pretty good luck over there.  I will be heading over to Russel Millpond tomorrow.  You do need some type of jonboat or canoe to be able have a chance over there.  A lot of downed trees and along the banks perfect for the big boys to hang out.

Jig fishing really isn't a great way to fish, you really need to send all your jigs and trailers down to me and I will properly dispose of them for you... :laugh5:

Oh can I?!  :respect-059:

I had no luck today in a bigger body of water at Russell Millpond or at Greenough pond last night.  No bites or nothing.  Tried the jig and my gf tried a black spinner bait all day out in the canoe but no love.  Anybody head out this weekend?

Just an update, Lake Masscupic in Dracut/Tyngsboro is wide open.

I fished Greenough pond in Billerica today for a few hours.  I only had luck on a black/blue senko.  1 LMB at about 1.5 lbs.  A few more bites on the senko but nothing else.

Fished a south shore smaller pond an caught around 13 bass and a bunch of pickerel between yesterday and today. Just about all of them caught on a kvd 2.5 and a few on a chatterbait. Landed two largies over 3lb and some monster picks. The bites starting up

I like most of the SK colors for the KVD cant go wrong with the shad colors and bluegill/perch. Even the craw colors get em. I was throwing the sexy ghost minnow. Guess it really comes downs to water clarity.

Thanks i'll take em all!

Anyone do any salt fishing. I just moved to east boston and would like to start going for stripers and blues, but honestly I don't know a thing about salt fishing. Anyone got any tips, like what kind of rod to use, lures, what am I looking for?

I think you're looking for a little warmer water. Couple weeks and they'll be in the bays on the Cape. You might want to use 8'-10' rods and 3000 to 5000 spinning reels. #65 braid with #20 flouro tied to a 1oz white maribu jig with a  6" white grub bounced on the bottom, might work. Live bait is sand worms and clams. That should get you started. Then talk to the guy standing next to you for more info.

Awesome, thanks for the tips

Growing up in Newburyport I always fished for stripers.  I found clams and whole herring worked the best.  I always had the best of luck during outgoing tide in the rivers.  I mainly fished in the Merrimac on the flats or the mouth, parker river by the ipswich yacht club, or off of Cranes beach in Ipswich.  But like I said outgoing tide always produced more fish because the bass were coming in to eat the baitfish as they are swept out with the current and the temperature of the water would raise 10+ degrees from the warm rivers!

For blues I look for bait fish jumping, usually a good sign they are there.  Steel liters are a must because of their teeth.  And I've caught blues on Rapalas trolling near or through the baitfish jumping.

And once you've hooked one, hang on for a hell of a battle.

I fish the merrimack river for stripers usually end of May early june is when you start seeing them come up the river. Landed my personal best last year 10lbs 32" on the last day of may. Not a massive fish by any means but it was fun as hell reeling in and seeing it jump around. Caught it on a blood worm.

looking forward to doing some more serious striper fishing this year

Anyone ever fish deer island

Hit some small ponds in melrose yesterday, still skunk city for this guy

I tried the Concord River today and not even a bite. I tried slow rolling a spinner bait, KVD 2.5 sexy ghost minnow, senko, and pig n jig. Nothing so I headed to Winning Pond and killed it on a KVD 2.5 sexy ghost minnow. Thanks TC235

Caught about 10 LMB and had 3 more LMB's got off.  The biggest weighing in just under 3 lbs.  I had about 2 more around that size and the rest being about 1.5 lbs and a few at under a pound.

The biggest one of the day

2 lbs 8 oz

A little KVD action

Caught 5 rainbow trout yesterday all over 14 inches

that was a good time
