Swimming Senkos

Featured Replies

I love 5" GYCB Senkos. Does the swimming model have the same salt content meaning does it sink and tear the same?

I did like @Choporoz and bought the kit with several different colors from Cabelas several years ago. I have caught a few on them but I still have a lot of them. I fish them the way the info in the kit had and use a Texas rig with a screw in sinker. Like most GYCB baits they are not real durable so they don't last through very many fish.

I have had great luck at times with them of course on a slider head during a tough bite. I would let them sink, and when I started to retrieve the bait the fish was either there or hit right away. I did test them on the back of a swim jig and they put out the most thump of baits I tested. Like many baits I haven't thrown them in years even though I have done really well with them. The only thing I hated was the cost, so I bought them on sale and have a deep 3700 box half full still of like 5 different colors. Probably should throw them again because they are great baits.

I wonder how @Sam and @roadwarriorand @.ghoti. feel about them now, 13 years later?

Sometimes I guess it is good to resurect a thread from the grave...

I still use the Swim Senko as a swim jig and spinnerbait trailer. However, the Rage Swimmer

has replaced the bait as my "go-to".

Pair them with the Storm 360 GT Search bait rattling jig heads and see what happens.

The swim Senko was first favorite Vibrating Jig trailer;

especially early season.

Since the introduction of the Zako, I hardly use them any more.

I stopped fishing them and I don't know why! Probably got distracted with some other shiny thing. Mostly fished them weightless T-rig and did well with them... low and painfully slow. Occassionally would put on a weighted hook so they'd fall a little more horizontal. Biggest fish on one is mid-sevens in the fall, sitting on the bottom while I was fiddling with the TM battery. Had pulled a few fish out of that spot, but the big one was having none of it.

What I haven't done is any testing to see if I can pull a fish when a regular senko has been through there - ie does it really do anything different enough to matter on a weightless presentation.

Partly on my mind is has a keitech fat replaced this as a better bait for a swimming presentation.
