New Shimano Cumara You Say?

Featured Replies

This is not official by any means, but the new Cumara is said to be built on the EXACT HM-1 blank as the cumulus, with the only changes being color and the additions of lengths and actions. It would appear, too, that the price is going to remain relatively stable. I have not seen or heard for certain what pricing will be, that part is the rumour mill. What is certain is they're coming! The biggest drawback is that the blank is a hideous maroon color. I've never before cared about what color the rod blank I was fishing happened to be, this one though, I'm not sure. Sounds like specs are much the same, however, SIC guides, Uplock reel seat like the Crucial, wide variety of lengths and actions in the bottom contact series. Unsure yet as to when they'll make it to a store near you or when Shimano will make it official.

I've seen enough pictures to confirm the color and the specs, hopefully everything else rings true!

You are going to have get one and mount it on a scorpion! That would look sick!

I saw these probably the same place you did but I like the color. I'm curious about the lengths in M power but they have my attention enough that I am thinking about getting one.

Interesting hooligan, thank you for the heads up and the information on the upcoming cumara. Look forward to hearing some reviews when they come out.

Where have you guys seem these?

Lipstick Red... hmmmm

That maroon doesn't look bad at all

X2. From what I can see, I think I like that color. I could do without the brushed aluminum (or whatever it is) trim strip on the front of the foregrip though.

Hmmmm - Maybe have to get one of these new Cumaras and put an orange Daiwa Sol reel on it...

It'll look great with my Scorpion XT 1000 on it.

These are for sale on ebay already...

Id have to see them in person to judge but the color isnt my cup o tea

I love my cumara rods but that color is a big drawback for me...looks like a bionic blade

I also love my cumara but the new color will make me think twice ( or more....)

The color of a Cumara won't matter to me at all! That is one sweet rod, and I'd use 'em even if they were yellow (sorry, Skeet). Glad the new ones are coming out, though, probably how I just got Cumaras on sale from TW for $99! I grabbed 3 of 'em!

Bantam1 posted this photo on a few other forums: I'm sure he won't mind the repost here. He also posted the specs for the new line-up (it's being called "Cumara A") and at a glance they look similar to the old Cumara. He did say that these were not Cumulus blanks - FWIW.

A concern expressed in another forum was the truncation of the grip behind the reel seat - it's much shorter than the old Cumara, and shorter than the current model Crucials/Compres. I think I would have to handle one of these rods to see if my hand fits, and stays on, the grip portion of the rod during the casting stroke...

Id be buying one of these right now if it wasnt red, there on ebay now for $250 shipped...

I don't think Shimano or anyone else is going to recommend a Cumara/Caenan combo. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, an excellent match would be (at least color-wise)....a Scorpion XT.

Boing! Yes, please. That'd be a nasty combo!

I didnt really believe they did, just posting for color coordination but what other reels available locally match that horrid color.. At least the caenan has less of a eek factor in the coloring than the scorpion. That's just too much yuk, quality, but expensive yuk at that. My opinion tho

A Core would look good on that rod. The gray body of the reel wouldn't match the color of the rod, but the Core does have a red spool and some red accents. It would be a good color combination.

My curado E would look terrible on this rod. :cry3:
