It's Been A While- Hudd Bite In The Metro Atl Area

Featured Replies

After loosing two fish in the last week, one of which flipped off at my feet and was well within the DD category, I decided that today I was going to fish the 8" weedless hard, and when the bite came do everything that my instincts told me not to.

I fished most of the afternoon, and when the bite came, heres how it went down. I felt the thump, quit reeling and let my line go slack, I saw the line jump (I'm assuming she was repositioning it) and then move off to my left. I waited till the line had moved about a foot, reeled in the slack and swung harder than I have ever before. She was in about 3' of water and actually came out of the water alittle on the set.

Not a monster by any stretch, but a solid fish to break a rough streak

All said and done I was excited to get the first to stick on the weedless.

Yea, Im afraid shes probably gone to the great beyond by now. a 24" fish with that big of head shouldnt weigh 5.5 :surprised:

Its a home brew rat bait, but based off a real fish catcher that's unavaliable now. Im not sure how close to the original it is, but Its my favorite topwater swimbait i've got.

Funny thing is....

Big bait, small fish

Very interesting. I'll have to look into one for myself. Thanks for the info. I always like to see the pictures of bass that try to eat something that's just as big/bigger than them too, haha.

Love the home brew rat bait. I have wanted to toss the weedless hud up on Lake Okeechobee.

The plastic recipe he's used on the weedless is extremely soft, and also has alot of friction, I've brought it in with leaves stuck to the side, yea the side, of the bait many times. They are extremely snagless, but not so weedless, I bet that an application of pro cure or some other slippery attractant might change that up completely.

That's a catfish swimbait in the second photo of the first post, right?

Lovely bass mate!
