Nope, and there's probably no need to. I use painted weights, but my uncle and few friends us plain lead color. Honestly, they catch just as many fish.

There´s no need to paint them, besides, they will chip and the paint will come off.

I have been painting bullet weight for decades and painted bullet weights are a common commercial item.

Lead, brass and tungsten painted basic black, purple and brown are most common. Bullet weights are also available powder coated similar to jig heads.

Spray painting with enamel is easy, if you want to paint your own. Use bare wire , run the wire through 10 to 12 weights and twist a loop on both end to keep the weights on the wire. Hang the wire with the weights and spray paint them, let dry and untwist one end to remove the weights.

I only buy painted weights when they are 1/8-1/4 oz due to the size, my 1/32 are plain lead. Does it make a difference? Maybe, but I feel better knowing the bigger ones are more inconspicuous.

I use a black ink marker (magic marker). It's clean & easy, dries instantly, doesn't chip like paint and it's color is flat, not glossy. You can touch them up in the boat also. JMHE

matter if it is really necessary, the weights look cool!

If I feel light painting my weights I just use a black sharpie.

I have a multi-pack of Sharpie colors. I use them on everything from weights,spinnerbaits, crankbaits etc. You can get pretty creative with the color effect. It matters to me, so that's my little confidence thing.

I don't buy or paint weights. I actually do better with unpained weights. Maybe its mental but plain lead or tungsten weights work best for me.

I usualy buy tungsten in the colors I use, but for unpainted stuff, I'll use nail polish and clear coat. Black, dark green, and brown are all I ever need. I use it on my keel-weighted hooks, too. Just match the color tone of the bait you are using.

i know that many people have a confidence factor in using painted weights. i am not too interested in having the bass hit my sinker. i rarely use a jig with paint on it either. if you have your skirt and your trailer, that is all the color you need. i have said this before, and i will restate it again. putting your bait the right depth at the right speed will put more fish in the boat for you than any specific color will. one of my fishing buddies uses a brown plastic crawdad all the time. his outlook is," if a bass can not find a brown crawdad, they are going to starve to death. it is more important to be putting your bait in the right place at the right speed." i will admit that painted weights and jig heads do look pretty.
