This is a R.B. Meiser 11'6" switch rod that I am just finishing up. Should be done by tomorrow.

Nicely done Crookedneck! I couldn't wait to see this one...SAWEEEEEET!

It's been a while since my fly tying days, but one of those feathers looks like Jungle C*ck Eye feathers??

I could be wrong...LOL

Jig,
You are correct, those are Jungle fowl feathers. 7 of them to be exact. Amherst pheasant feather (black & white), Zambisie feather (speckled), Greys pheasant, Grizzly hackle (on the back side) topped of with jungle fowl.

That is an artwork. If it fishes even half as well as it looks someone is going to be an extremely lucky angler.

Outstanding!

Beautiful job.

I would like to see a video of you putting those feathers on the rod.

I thought you couldnt buy jungle "c" anymore, it had to be imitation or it was EXTREMELY expensive.

Beautiful,well done.

beautiful, you are very very talented.

Thanks for the compliments guys. This was a fun build.

Jhoffman--the Jungle Fowl © feathers can still be bought...these are real feathers not imitation and yes they are not cheap. If you build or tie flies PM me I can send you some. I bought a full cape a couple years ago. I only use a few feathers a year, and my brother (this is his rod) ties flies and he uses them in Salmon and steel head flies. So I don't mind spreading the wealth in the name of fishing.

The feather inlays believe it or not are not to difficult. You just have to do it one feather at a time. And make sure they are sealed properly with CP, as they will trap air which will play havoc on your epoxy. I might look into doing a video. I was asked this last fall to do a presentation on feather inlays at the St. Croix factory. I had to decline as it conflicted with my work.

Man, now I'm wondering why I posted my build on here, you blew it away...LOL

Again, you did a great job Crooked!

We all started somewhere.  Keep at it.

What reel seat hardware is that?  I've been using Batson for the few fly rods that I do and I'm not really happy with how it doesn't fit some reels.

It is a Lemke reel seat.....Struble has stopped producing hardware.  Joel Lemke used to work for Struble he is now making his own line of hardware.  Top of the line hardware at a fraction of the cost compared to Struble.

Awesome job!

I don't fly fish, not some thing I grew up with, but that is one beautiful rod.

Impressive. Would love to get into fly-fishing, but have no clue where to start (as well as start rod building which is a whole nother endeavor I am jumping way over my head into, good thing I know how to swim).

That is a true work of art, inspiring!

Thanks for all the comments.  This was a fun build.  With a lot of challenges.
